common areas. Trees are on a regular trimming schedule. The mature trees have been groomed into a manageable state, preventing wind damage and losses during storms. Budgeting for pre-emergent has kept the weeds under control. One of our greatest accomplishments this past year was being named the recipients of the City of Chandler Matching Grant Program for 2010 for $5000. To date, we are the only community to make it through the rigorous process. We thank our Landscape Committee chairperson, Val Lanza, who has serve above and beyond for us. Special thanks also to those of you who came to meetings to show support for our cause and to those of you who attended workshops for the needed credit towards our grant. A landscape plan was developed for both common areas and split into two phases. Superstition Boulevard, the larger of the two phases, was started first. Drainage and erosion issues were corrected with stabilizer, and many new plants and rock were added. Safety was improved at dropoff points from the sidewalks. Block Watch was recently re-activated with a large turn-out. Safety of the community is a priority with a recent increase in property crimes. GAIN (Getting Arizona Involved in Neighborhoods) will be the focus of our Annual Meeting/Block Party this year. Staying current on issues concerning our residents has been our boards goal. We hosted a Drowning Prevention Day presented by Southwest Ambulance to teach Continuous Chest Compressions, the new CPR. The SRC board recognizes that solar power is becoming a common energy solution. We developed guidelines for solar panel placement in the community and brought a reputable company to our block party so you could learn more. We have also reached out to businesses in our community to get their support for our

residents and our efforts to make our community a fun place we all like to live in. The response was great! Not every community gets a helicopter visit after their annual meeting! Thank you for making visitors feel welcome with your outpouring of food and hospitality at our events. We are slowly changing our neighborhood look from cookie cutter homes to a more custom appearance. You have been adhering to the DunnEdwards paint palette and sprucing up our community look. Did you know we took our palette digital with the help of Dunn-Edwards so anyone in our community can access the paint colors 24 hrs a day? (http://dunnedwards.com) A new board member packet has just been developed to ease the transition for new board members as they assume their responsibilities. In addition, we also developed a calendar for board business, ensuring efficiency and a continuity of service from your future board . The social network we have built amongst us has also been rewarding. If it had not been for some of our social events, we may never have met you. We have had fun eating, chatting, and riding hay rides at our block parties and holiday celebration. May the fun and friendship continue for years!

GOT QUESTIONS?

It is truly amazing how quickly three years can pass when you are immersed in a community! It has been an exciting adventure, and one with many rewarding achievements. Kim Fox and my terms are ending as board members, but we would like to say thank you for the opportunity to serve our Superstition Ranch Community. This is a great place to live and we hope we leave things a little better for the group who follows. The friendships you can make while trying to take care of a neighborhood are inspiring. We met many of you personally through many of our community events. Thank you to those of you who came out to ask what you could do to help. Embracing the ways of the future, our new blog helps us communicate with you. Wanting to respect your right to privacy while sharing on your terms, the blog remains safe and private to community members. We hope it continues to flourish with new energy and communication. In addition, a more comprehensive newsletter with semi-annual updates hopefully has kept you in the loop of activity. We made a commitment to give you information sooner, knowing how busy your lives must be, so you could mark your calendars for events. Our board has encouraged the formation of two committees, Landscaping and Special Events, and did we reap the benefit of resident volunteers! If you look around, you may notice more attention to our

LANDSCAPE COMMITTEE REPORT

Phase I of our common area restoration and beautification was th completed on April 19 , 2011! Our committee gave a presentation to the Neighborhood Advisory Committee (NAC) on th August 9 as one of the final elements in meeting our grant requirements. The Landscape Committee would like to thank and recognize residents who attended a class or meeting in support of our project and helping us reach our education requirement. They are: Linda and Donald North, Susan and Mike Isaac, Brian Pinney, Virginia Lanza, Susan Coolidge and Roy Ryals. We were invited by the City to participate in The Mayors Listening Tour held on January 11 as well as Neighborhoods AZ 2011 where Romina Ryals was asked to present a session entitled Social Networking Low or No Cost Ways to Spread the Word. There were classes offered by the City attended by Valerie Lanza, Rx for Your Association as well as a Roundtable Discussion attended by Romina Ryals as our HOA President. Great information was obtained at both these classes for our community! All of these counted towards our grant education requirement. We will be holding a plant drive at the block party in hopes of adding plants to the Superstition Boulevard area. Due to financial constraints, we were unable to purchase all the plants called for in the design plan. Your help with a donation to this worthwhile cause would be appreciated. We are looking forward to Phase II of our common area project along Ray Road once the community has sufficient funds for the project. As always, the landscape committee will keep an eye on our common areas and address issues with our landscape maintenance company as they arise. Lastly, the Landscape Committee is open to all members of the community. Please contact Valerie Lanza, Chair, at bjuled@cox.net if you are interested in joining this committee.

Our final requirement will be met with our annual block party being held in conjunction with the GAIN (Getting Arizona Involved in nd Neighborhoods) on October 22 , 2011. Also a condition of the grant, the Block Watch program has been successfully reactivated as of December 2010. During the upcoming block party held nd October 22 , you will have another opportunity to sign up for block watch. Please join fellow residents in watching out for each other and our community.

OUR ANNUAL BUDGET

Your Board of Directors works diligently to guide the Homeowners Association and manage the finances in a prudent manner. We operate impressively on a rather low budget. Did you know that our projected income each year is $31,248? We have 62 residences within the Association, and each pays $126 quarterly or $504 annually. Of each residences $504 annual payments: $178 (35%) helps to cover common area landscape maintenance and repairs, tree trimming and weed control, $63 (13%) covers our electricity and water bills, $182 (36%) covers legal, accounting and collection costs, property and liability insurance, Kinney Management fees and other miscellaneous administrative costs, $80 (16%) is placed in a reserve account for undesignated and/or unanticipated future expenses. If you have questions about our finances, feel free to attend any board meeting, or contact Nakeia Lyons, our property manager. Contact info located on page 1. -Lisa Knox, Treasurer

BLOCK PARTY: SATURDAY, OCT. 22, 2011 IN THE CUL-DE-SAC/RAY COMMON AREA
2:30 PM ANNUAL MEETING/ELECTION OF OFFICERS 3:00 PM BLOCK PARTY/GAIN EVENT
This years event is being held in conjunction with the City-wide GAIN event in order to meet our last requirement relating to the grant money awarded by the City for our Superstition Boulevard common area project. The theme of the party is Vintage. There will be vintage police cars and fire truck on display for your viewing pleasure. GAIN stands for Getting Arizona Involved in Neighborhoods and is Arizonas version of National Night Out. National Night Out is a night where communities participate in anti-crime and drug prevention programs. Police officers make scheduled visits to the different GAIN events as well as possible appearances by resources such as K9 police officers and their K9s, The Mobile Command Center or other department vehicles. Our Block Watch co-captains will attend a meeting on September 24 to request a special appearance yet to be determined. Southwest Ambulance will provide a tent, chairs and grill as well as donating hamburgers and hot dogs (including veggie) to our event.

We will be holding a charity drive for Law Enforcement Toys for Tots and ask residents to donate an unwrapped toy to this special organization.

Door hangers will again be distributed throughout the neighborhood outlining items needed such as buns, condiments, sides and desserts. Volunteers are needed to help with setup and cleanup as well as childrens games. Any help is appreciated. You can contact our property manager, Nakeia Lyons, if youd like to help or know more!

Given the increase in identity theft, Shred-It was approached and has generously donated two hours to our community providing document shredding services on-site for residents. Two bankers boxes per household will be shredded for free. Additional documents will be shredded for a fee of $10.

Of course, before the fun can start, there is the business of the annual meeting. Please plan to attend this important meeting. The board is always looking for new members to participate in making our community a better place to live.

We look forward to seeing our neighbors for a day of food, music and fun!
