apology one: an apology goes out to snakebyte. sheepbyte did not know of your
handle at the
time of its creation.

please welcome our new member smyle [wide.smyle@gmail.com]

and our new member lexdysic [yaj.yake@gmail.com]

we are starting a new project called blindnet. it is a program that will use
distributed
computing
and p2p to accomplish great things such as anonymous p2p, web surfing, chat, irc,
web
indexing, and
many other neat things. we are still in the planning stages. email sheepbyte and
we will hook
you up
with an invite to the discussion list. once this project closes its doors (about 2
months)
nobody
will be able to join without a referral from a member and approval by the manager
but you
can leave at any time. this is risk free. if you have any skills such as coding,
graphics,
network design, or anything else please join. there is lots of work that needs to
be done
and anything you can do to help would be great.

check it out! the nasa directory got listed as a news article at hackwire.com:

///this issue is much longer than the other issues and has lots more content. we
are in the
process of starting a lot of
projects right now so hold on for them to all get launched and going. sheepbyte
has just
started a fed evader project
to help you destroy evidence in case of an invasion of... men in black suits and
sunglasses.

there will be an upcoming graphics contest so please submit any ideas you have for
prizes.

i recieved this reply from dixie-narco today:
"please contact your local coca cola bottling company for a key if needed.
note: if you look on the face of the lock it will have an embossed key code
that they may need to get you the correct key.
thanks,
bryan k. xxxxxxx
dixie-narco
sr. manager xxxxxxxxxx

williston, sc 29853

i replied:
"where can i get an email address or phone number for my local bottling company?
i lost my key to the machine so i don't know the number that is supposed to be
there. how would i go about getting a copy of that number? i really
don't want my boss to find out that i lost that key. i'm very worried."

i got this response:

"you can find the local bottler in the yellow pages or give me your city
state and i'll find it for you.
the number is also on the face of the lock cylinder where you insert the
key."

so basically you can call your bottler and ask for the key as long as you have the
number
which is right on the machine. omg hax! this is insecure. those coke machines can
stock
thousands
of dollars!

winhttrack 5/5 [httrack.com]
for site mirroring this software is amazing. it doesn't have many bells and
whistles but it
gets the job done. it has file filters and a few other neat things. it is very
good software
and the best thing for downloading huge archives (like phrack) or sites.

capturewiz 4/5 [pixelmetrics shareware]

this has lots of neat features. it can do a full-on screenshot like the ones
achieved through
the print screen command. it can also take video of the screen and has many ways
of taking
snapshots. the best feature to be is the "scroll" feature. say you have a window
in fire fox
it will take a picture of the entire page. sometimes it screws up and gets jerky
or
white spaces but it is very good software.

web data extractor 4.3 [4/5] [webextractor.com]

this is really good for ripping emails from a site. you can just have it run on a
site and it
will get all the emails from the site. this gets the job done and it very good
software.

bravehost [3/5] [bravehost.com]

a free webhosting service that is run by bravenet. it is a nice service and
require ads but it
has an absolutely pathetic level of bandwidth. it comes with lots of neat tools
for starting
webmasters.

text formatter plus [4/5] [formatbluesoftware.com]

this software can automatically format text for you and make everything like it
was on word
wrap. this is the software we use to make sure that this text file is viewable
from 800x600
and
above. we deducted 1 point because it requires registration and it doesn't take a
genius to
make. it.

# how to set up #
# your own mailbombing server #
# by: sheepbyte #
###############################
what is mailbombing
-------------------
mailbombing can either refer to rigging somebodies mailbox with a bomb or filling
up their
inbox.
this article is about the latter.

how it is done
--------------
mailbombing is done through exploiting a vulnerability in smtp that allows you to
send
anonymous mail. the way it is done is the server doesn't ask for any
authentication so
spammers
usually use these. these unsecured servers are called open relays. finding open
relays can be
difficult and it is usually done through massive server scanning or watching to
see which
servers
your spam comes from. unless you are a spammer finding these servers can be very
time-consuming
and worthless.

what you will need

------------------
for this project you will need:
stc 3.0 by snakebyte: http://packetstormsecurity.org/win/stc3.zip
ability mail server (eval is ok): http://www.code-crafters.com/abilitymailserver/

actually doing it
-----------------
install ability mail server and select launch ability mail server. it will launch
the config
menu
so click next. for primary domain insert 127.0.0.1. for admin email insert
admin@127.0.0.1.
click next. make sure enable smtp and enable outgoing mail is checked. all the
other options
should be unchecked. click next. set it to auto-detect dns host under independent
mode. click
next. click skip on the domain screen. turn off any firewall software you may have
running!
you should now be on the system diagnostics screen. click next. the only failure
you should
get
is "please enable either smtp authentication or the restricted to ips option". if
you get any
other error messages you have probably set it up wrong. click close and then
finish. the mail
server should now open. you have now set up the mail server *happy dance*. now
download and
unzip stc 3.0. run the exe file and close the nag screen. select simple mail and
click
"start it!!!" . change the mailserver to 127.0.0.1. you can select the use
mixmaster function
if you want to keep yourself anonymous but you'll probably have to update the
emails provided.
to keep the victim from filtering out emails you can randomize the sender,
subject, and body.
make sure you enter an email for the receiver. you should send 1 test email to
yourself before
bombing to make sure everything works. once you have confirmed it has worked you
can start
mailbombing! i have provided some emails for you. these emails belong to known
ebay scammers:

# dip #
#########################
=========
|| hungry? || by cypress (aka billy hoyle)
=========

____________________________________________________________________________
teh idea for this dip came one day as i was hungry and had chips but no dip. i
thought of what
taco bell puts in its burritos, and so here is the recipe for one killer dip.

this is a quick and easy way to make a very tasty dip. it is a fix for when you
are hungry and
trying to break into a bank or whatever. you can do it with anything that is in
your
refrigerator. the only thing that you really need to have is chips, unless you
don't mind
eating your dip with a spoon.

----what you need----

1. can of beans
2. can of tomatoes sauce
3. can of corn
4. ham (or anything else that you like)
5. cheese (anything that you like or have available)

----what to do----
1. find a plate big enough to fit everything you plan to put in the dip.
2. open up all the cans, and empty the content into the plate.
3. get the ham (or other meat) and cut it in tiny square pieces (or whatever
floats your
boat).
4. grab a spoon or a fork and steer the contents of the plate so that they mix
nicely.
5. get out the cheese and a grater and grate your cheese. or you could cut it into
skinny
slices.
6. put the plate into the oven, and heat it to 500 degrees f. keep the dip in
there for about
3-5 minutes or until the cheese melts.

that's it! you now have created the ultimate hax0r snack in less then 10 minutes
(if you are
as 1337 as i). you should wait a bit after you take the dip out of the oven,
because it might
be too hot to consume and i don't want people telling me how they burned
themselves.

for consumption, i would recommend tostito scoops because they make it very easy
for you to
dip and get your tasty dip in your hungry self. you can also do it with utz
restaurant style
chips, but i personally do not like it, because it is very big, and you can make a
mess trying
to stuff it in your face, especially if you are not focused on it.

\\\\ a hacktivist's manifesto ////

by: sheepbyte

a lot of people ask me why i do what i do and why it is my responsibility.

to them i make this response:

a 96 year old man sits on his death bed and asks

what have i accomplished?

a 70 year old woman with ailing hearing turns up the tv and asks:
why?

a 49 year old man turns 50 and asks:

what have i accomplished?

a 30 year old man has a mid-life crisis and asks

what is my purpose?

i sit in front of my computer and ask all these questions. what have i done? what
will i be
remembered for? the truth is before hacktivism, it was nothing. i was nothing just
like many
of
you un-popular kids in high school whose only refuge is the internet. i realize
that if i want
to be remembered for something i want to be remembered for something great. if i
go to jail i
want to make change, and plant the seeds of revolution in the minds of thousands
of people.
not a political revolution. a societal revolution. you can chop down a forest
with a sword,
but you can move masses with words. when i die, commit suicide, or rot away in
prison
i want to be remembered as somebody who did something great and revolutionary.
the argument that i am stupid for what i do could be applied to martin luther.
what made him such a hero? what made him spark a societal and religious
revolution?
it wasn't an army of 1000 men it was words. only a few pages of words changed
society forever.
what revolution have i caused? i have caused none. i want people to see me as
"that guy".
"that guy" who caused us to open our minds.
"that guy" who showed us the light.
"that guy"... who changed the world.

wal-mart price scanners.

by: lexdysic (yaj dot yake at(@) gmail dot com)

note: i am not, nor do i claim to be good at anything if you find a mistake in

this document
simply just tell me and we can both learn something. this is just me playing with
a fun piece
of technology i found at my "favorite" store.

overview

while walking in wal-mart you might notice little devices meant to scan bar codes
and report
the price to you (the consumer) attached to poles through out the store. these
things
surprisingly are fun to play with and can do more then you would think at first
glance.

first, lets go over the basics of the device:

* take item with a upc bar code and scan it on the underside.
* wait a second and watch as the price of the item appears on the screen.

seems simple enough, eh?

now lets go over some features that you probably

didn't notice at first:

* touch screen
* 802.11b/g equipped
* setup mode
* msr(magnetic strip reader)
* (maybe more to be discovered?)

staying safe

now remember, these price scanners on the walls are for you to play with. so if
you get
caught by a "wal-mart associate" or a "caring shopper" simply reset the box
(explained below)
and shout something like "damnit i died at level '42' again!" then simply walk
off and find
another box or come back in like 2 mins.

''note: wal-mart associates do not care what you do. however "caring shoppers"
will rest at
nothing to make your day hard. remember, wal-mart associates can be fired if they
try to kill
you, but shoppers won't get fired. so be careful. a lot of whack-jobs shop at
wal-mart. i
have had some close calls with nascar fans who got mad at me for helping them pick
up some
stuff they dropped. another time, me and a friend got chased around by some lady
with three
kids who saw us use the "courtesy phones." anyways, long story short if someone
freaks out
because you are doing something they don't (can't) understand, just walk away.''

that ends my rant on avoiding crazy people...

setup mode

setup mode contains a wealth of information and options. but first, we must enter
setup mode.
this can be simply accomplished by approaching the device and looking on the pole
for an 110v
power outlet. the scanner should be plugged
into this outlet. from there simply unplug the ac adapter then plug it back in to
force the
scanner to reboot. while it is rebooting it will prompt you to tap the screen to
enter
"setup."
do as it says (because it's a good idea to do what wal-mart says to do.) from
there it should
ask you to tap the screen on the cross hairs to calibrate the touch screen.

now pat yourself on the back! you have successfully completed the first half of
the entering
setup mode.

ok, back to work... you should be sitting at a password prompt with a touch screen
keyboard
bellow. now when i first saw this, i tried to top 4 passwords from the movie
"hackers."
sadly, this flopped (just like the screenplay should have). then after a quick
manual brute
force, the password turned out to be:

password

this shows once again, if you leave your box on default settings you will get
pwned again and
again and again.

congratulations. you have just entered setup mode! now let's see what we can do
here:

password
lets you change the password.

calibrate
lets you calibrate the touch screen for your finger/pen.

brightness
allows you to change the brightness of the lcd screen.

host
lets you select what port to use when connecting to host. ports available are 64-
69. default
is 68.

reset
resets the box... duh!

system info
displays all sorts of info including hardware and software versions.

system info also reviles that this system is running dos. although it does not
say it, it
uses
files with extensions such as: .bat, .exe, .bin, etc...

test
this option is really cool in my opinion. it allows you to play with all the
little extras on
the price scanner! here is what you can do:

audio
performs a sweep. its kinda fun to tap this then watch as people look
around to see
where the annoying noise is coming from.

touch pad
simply tests the touch pad.

com
lets you test the com1 port. i could not figure out what was attached to it
so i am
guessing it was empty.

smart card
tests the smart card... if you have one.

network
displays your mac address, local ip address, and gateway.

msr(magnetic strip reader)

this is one is really cool. it lets you test the msr and find out a little
info on
walmart

anyways, the msr will read 3 tracks of data. i left my wallet at home so i
tested it on
walmart phone cards. the msr also tries to pick out these field: issue, account
no., name,
expires, service, name, city, state, address, first name, middle name, and last
but not
least... last name. (can anyone guess what kind of car it is looking for?)

i could not access this option because it was grayed out. it would appear that it
would let
you download updates to the client software it was running.

time and date

i shouldn't have to tell you...

network
this is another fun tab. here are some of the options... i really think that they
should
explain themselves:

* ssid
* broadcast add.
* gateway
* primary dsn
* secondary dsn
* wep key(yes, it lets you view this in plain text with no authentication)
* device name
* device cid
* static ip
* subnet mask

there you have it, you can easily map your local wal-marts network.

exploration

there are more things you can do here. i figured that if you are reading this you
should be
smart enough to figure out what else you can do. remember, retail hacking is all
about
exploring and figuring stuff out for yourself.

here are some more ideas for things you can try:

* getting a command prompt.

* setting up an ad-hoc network with the price checker.
* changing the greeting.
* and whatever your twisted mind can think up.

there is a lot you can do with these devices explore, have fun, and if you send me
some
feedback i will be more than grateful. at this time i want to learn as much as i
can about
these things because so far it has been a blast playing around with them. and its
funny how
something so simple has so much power.

thanks for reading this, i hope someone finds
use or amusement for this...

# web data extractor 4.3 #
#############################
----> by sheepbyte
this tutorial will teach you how to use web data extractor 4.3.
first you have to download and install it from webextractor.com
once you have it installed you can crack it, or use the evaluation version, or buy
it. i will
be teaching you how to rip emails from any site you choose. i use this to get the
emails of
419 scammers but you can use it for whatever purpose you want. launch web
extractor and click
on new. i will first walk you through the general tab. select website/dirs/groups
and for the
starting address select your desired target. make the retrieval depth zero to stay
on that
domain. if you are doing a sub-domain or a /whatever you should enable stay within
full url so
you don't leave the site. check the extract email checkbox. now go to the domain
tab. you
should have the all links must contain a valid root domain checked. if you are
extracting
emails from forums uncheck the "big/black hole sites" option. you can set a proxy
if you want.
i don't really see why you would unless you are stupidly paranoid like me. there
isn't really
much to this tutorial because there isn't really much to tell you. when it is done
scanning it
will make a text file for you and open the containing folder. the text file will
include some
emails and an evaluation message. if you don't have the full version then you
can't get all
the
emails after a certain number of them. there are cracks available for this
software which
of course i have never and will never use. <paranoid glance>

dc++, great p2p

by

cypress, aka b.hoyle
\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/

this is sort of a follow up to sheepbyte's article on p2p from tiz issue 2. he did
a great job
going over a lot of the newer networks, terms, and clients, but i decided to kick
it old skool
and share with you all a review of a great p2p client (at least in my opinion).

dc++ (1) is "dc++ is an open-source, ad and spyware-free client, written in c++

for the direct
connect protocol originally developed by neo-modus.com, that allows you to share
files over
the internet with other users. the client is often updated at least once a month
for bugs and
new features. " -- from the official dc++ faq.

----pros:----

- its free (and open source)

- has no adware/spyware/crapware
- no feds are on it (as of now, july 2005)
- has a chat feature
- allows you to log the actives that you want
- automatically search for alternative download sources
- tells you where a user is from (you could boycott countries)
- supports magnet links
- allows you to configure the amount of people that can download from you
- very customizable
- might be available in your language (if different from english)
- most of all, has alot of files and users and hubs

----cons:----

- you must have a shared folder (at least 10gigs in order to get into good hubs)
- sometimes the downloads are slow, because you have to download from someone
with a slow
connection
- when someone downloads from you, it slows down your connection
- lack of any multimedia player within the program (although that keeps it fast
and small)
- only with a windows installer but you could compile it for linux/mac

----personal experience:----
i have used this program for over 3 years. i have been very happy with it. the one
thing that
i did not like was the fact that you need to have a share. i know that the feds go
look
through shared folders and that is how people got sued. however, i have developed
a work
around, instead of sharing copyrighted materials, i share linux distros. they are
open source,
and the developers encourage you to spread them out. i think that this is a great
way to get
rid of the sharing stuff, and a plus for sharing a linux distro is that people
generally do
not download them from p2p, so it keeps your slots open and it doesn't affect your
speed. if
someone tries to download from me, i either let them do it, or i just give them
the official
distro website, where they would get way faster downloads then from my crappy
30kibs up
connection.

dc++ is extremely easy to use. my father, who is a total n00b mastered it in less
than 3
days, and was downloading jazz and country like a mad man, without too much help
from me. that
means that you guys can master it in less then 3 hours. so have fun, and download
only legal
materials!!!

if u r not helping me just eamil me anyway so that i know and i dont need to

reply:
"how can i be sure that these are your accounts? first off, i won't crack them
because it is
illegal and wrong. people who crack accounts give hackers a bad reputation. even
though it is
your account it is hosted on another server which could prosecute me. my advice to
you is
you need to learn how to spell and don't go to illegal measures for a game. if the
cops want
to they can track you down. illegal cracking is just throwing your life away.
people will
respect you more if you spell correctly and you don't spell using l337-sp33k.
thank you for
your understanding.

"dear sheepbyte

thank you for your release of the nasa directory.

nasas employees are public servants, therefore why should their names and phone
numbers be
treated as classified information? it would be different if they were working on
something top
secret, but they are not arent they, huh, huh!!!"

reply:
"dear clint,
as my understanding goes those are not the run-of-the-mill employees who sort
mail. these seem
like scientists who may be working with confidential data and these are foreign
contacts all
which nasa usually guards pretty well. regardless of whether this data has the
confidential
classification or not it is still a big embarrassment for nasa. a site
administrator of one of
the sub-domains of nasa.gov stupidly left specific directories open which should
not have been
such as temporary file directories. i don't know where you heard this data was
"classified"
but i would like to know where you did. i'm sorry our release has upset you so
much. for more
information on how the data was leaked you can check out tiz issue one from
tiz.brokenfloppy.com. we found lots of other government information that should
have not been
in the public view but we deemed this the most important of all the data we found.
congratulations on your new dvr! sounds like you got a pretty sweet deal.
it's nice to
see that you are doing work to secure the vending machines. as you will see in tiz
issue 3
acquiring a key for a coke machine is very easy. all you need to do is copy the
number off the
machine next to the key hole and ask your local coca-cola bottler for a key. they
will ask for
the number and viola! you have a key to thousands of dollars from coke machines.
i'm sure you
will probably end up e-mailing kevin [private] about that. isn't it amazing what i
can find
out about you with google? this is the same level of ease it took to find the nasa
directory
and nobody should be using that as a standard for securing any government data.
please reply,
sheepbyte of the intrahack zine"

reply:
"sheepbyte:

after i wrote the first e-mail, i then looked at the list, and i found
out that the list is only as you described.

how can i get access to the real internal nasa phonebook for all
employees?"

reply:
""how can i get access to the real internal nasa pohonebook for all employees?"
i'm still
working on that one. your best luck would be to do a public records search in the
social
security database and use every name in america or hack into nasa but those guys
always end up
in jail.
