FEELGOODS 2012 LEADERSHIP & HUNGER SUMMIT

BUDGET REQUEST
FeelGoods 8th Annual Leadership & Hunger Summit will be an intense weekend of hunger education and leadership development for FeelGoods finest student leaders. Over 60 FeelGood students from across the country will gather in New York City from October 12-14 to strengthen the FeelGood community, build their leadership capacity, set goals, share best practices and innovate for the sustainable end of hunger. The students will be joining activists from around the world on Saturday for a special presentation on The Hunger Projects empowerment strategies in Africa, South Asia, South America and Mexico and will walk away with a deep understanding of proven long-term, empowermentbased, gender-focused development strategies. Additionally, the students will take this unique opportunity to network with distinguished professionals from a myriad of fields.

GOALS: The goals of our 8th Annual Leadership & Hunger Summit are:
Deepen students commitment to the end of hunger Strengthen students understanding of the root causes of chronic hunger and key solutions to ending it Equip students to be effective, strategic leaders on their university campuses and in their professional lives Create community and collaboration across all of our chapters Empower each student to take an active role in achieving their chapters strategic goals for the school year Improve their communication of FeelGoods purpose: to end hunger and create a generation of changemakers.

PROGRAM COMPONENTS
LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT: Friday evening, Saturday morning and all day Sunday, FeelGood students will hear from

investors in the end of hunger and leaders in the non-profit field. They will also participate in several workshops concentrated on personal growth, leadership, goal setting, education and overcoming the unique obstacles each student & chapter faces. The Leadership Development portion of the weekend is intended to equip the students with tools and resources to be leaders for change on their respective campuses.
THE HUNGER PROJECT PROGRAM: Saturday afternoon FeelGood student leaders will join a cadre of fellow investors for

The Hunger Projects symposium titled The New Landscape for Ending Hunger and Poverty. In this session, we will collectively explore the evolution of hunger and poverty, and learn how the FeelGood movement can effectively join forces with our village partners to discover new strategies to end hunger in our lifetime. Representing our global village partners will be: Sharmi Bai, elected head of her village council in Nichlagarh village in Rajasthan, India Sister Esther Nawatti, a registered nurse from Wakiso Epicenter in Uganda Mary Ellen McNish, President and CEO of The Hunger Project
ANNUAL GALA: As a special acknowledgement of the students hard work and leadership throughout the school year,

FeelGood will be inviting all Hunger Summit attendees to The Hunger Projects annual gala. The gala celebrates, acknowledges and honors the accomplishments and extraordinary leadership of individuals and communities around the world working to end their own hunger. In addition, the annual gala promotes heightened awareness within the world community of the many local leaders who are making the difficult decisions and taking the necessary actions to resolve the pressing agricultural, economic, political, and social issues facing their communities and the world.
