Im 4 Annie Im Mr. Coyner English 17 February 2011 No Homework on Friday Introduction What do you do during the weekend? Homework? Sports? Extra curricular activities? For the majority of teens, the response would be homework. The fact that you have homework over the weekend most likely means that you are assigned homework on Friday. reaIn the States, people consider Friday as part of the weekend, so there should not be any homework assigned on Friday. The Dictionary states that weekend is regarded as a time for leisure. Students at this age should be able to get enough rest, quality time with family, and even more time for extra activities, especially during weekends. Research on How Most Teens Spend Their Weekend According to Kids Health, most teens need to sleep about eight and a half hours to nine hours or more of sleep every night. Getting enough sleep is crucial if you want to stay active at school. But in reality, majority of the teens do not get enough sleep, and stay up late trying to finish their homework. Students get enough homework for the whole week, and now we have homework to finish over the weekend? How are we supposed to get enough rest? Teachers should leave the weekends to us and let us have time to refresh our minds and bodies. Tendency of Teenagers When Transitioning into a Teenager As a child develops to a teenager, they start to not interact with their family as much as they did before. Instead, they care about their friends more and spend more time with friends

Im 5 rather than family. Because of these problems, a lot of people leave their weekends free, to spend quality time with family. Family is very important to a growing teenager like us. They are probably our strongest supporters during the adolescence stage, even though they might not seem as important as other problems were going through. We cant let homework on weekends take away our time with family and possibly destroy the family unit. Disadvantages Copious amounts of homework can stop us from becoming a well-rounded person. During the weekdays, obviously, most people cant do anything else, other than homework, so we barely have any time to build our talents in different activities, such as sports, arts, and music. These special activities are important to growth of a student and maybe you can find your new talent through these. Who knows! Annie M. Manzi also states that there are more to life and learning than just schoolwork. Although you can see your friends at school and just talk with them, homework on weekends takes away the time of building stronger relationships among friends. Key way of becoming closer to someone is by spending quality time with him or her. If my friends and I find something real cool to do outside of school and plan what to do, but our plans always get ruined by, Oh, I have to study for my test on Monday, so I cant hang. Social life is important, especially to teenagers, since they find nothing else more important than friends. We should also be able to develop our skills in socializing with people, for our future. Conclusion Homework is, of course, is necessary because it helps us review and rethink about the things we learned at school. But homework during weekends, I strongly disagree with, because it takes away so much of our time. We can use the weekend for better things, such as building

Im 6 relationships with friends, families, and being involved in special activities, etc. We all have to question, can students do better things other than homework, or is homework worth our time during weekend? I strongly think we should not be assigned homework on Fridays.
