RESUMO

Fractais A Geometria da Natureza: O conhecimento geomtrico ensinado na maioria das escolas est restrito Geometria Euclidiana. Porm, de acordo com as Diretrizes Curriculares da Rede Pblica de Educao Bsica, desde o final de 2006, as Noes de Geometria No-Euclidiana esto inseridas nos Ensinos Fundamental e Mdio. Nesse contexto, a Geometria Fractal vem causando inquietaes em professores de matemtica por ser contedo considerado novo para a grande maioria.
Este trabalho pretende inserir a Geometria Fractal nos ensinos Fundamental e Mdio como motivao para o estudo de diversos contedos matemticos. Dentre as abordagens matemticas possveis para os fractais, pretende-se ressaltar o processo iterativo, o clculo de reas, de permetros, conceitos de potenciao, etc., alm apresentar os mais importantes e conhecidos fractais, conceitos tericos sobre as aplicaes matemticas, dando-se nfase importncia de seu estudo. O conceito de Geometria Fractal, bem como suas caractersticas, dimenso fractal, o processo de construo passo a passo de alguns fractais, alm de suas aplicaes no processo ensino-aprendizagem, constituem os principais objetivos deste trabalho. Acredita-se na necessidade pensar a importncia do tema Fractais no

processo de formao do professor de matemtica, pois ele facilita a aprendizagem, o desenvolvimento pessoal e social, a construo e a assimilao do conhecimento, a comunicao, a expresso e a criatividade.

ABSTRACT Fractals - Geometry of Nature: The geometric knowledge taught in most schools is restricted to Euclidean geometry. However, according to the Curriculum Guidelines of the Public Basic Education, since the end of 2006, Non-Euclidean Geometry Understanding are included in the Elementary and High Schools. In this context, fractal geometry has been causing concern among mathematics teachers, who have considered this a new contente. . This work intends to introduce fractal geometry in the elementary and high schools as motivation for the study of many mathematical contents. Among possible mathematical terms for fractals, this paper intends to emphasize the iterative process, calculating areas, perimeters, concepts of power, etc.., and present the most important and well known fractals, theoretical concepts about mathematical applications giving emphasis to the importance of his study. The concept of fractal geometry and its features, fractal dimension, the step by step construction process of some fractals, and their applications in the teaching-learning process, are the main goals of this work. The need of thinking the importance of Fractals in the process of training for mathematic teachers has to be

considered, because it facilitates learning, personal and social development, construction and assimilation of knowledge, communication, expression and creativity. Keywords: Fractal geometry, fractal dimension, motivation, iterative process.
