The Infinity Enhanced Bio-Filtration Sewage Treatment System BIOSOLV combines two very recent developments in waste water and sewage treatment technology, whereas, the combination has a synergistic effect on the overall speed of the waste water treatment cycle; from influent raw waste water to effluent treated water. In addition, the BioSolv system requires a much smaller foot print than conventional waste water treatment facilities; installed for a variety of treatment requirements and purposes. BioSolv uses two separate aerated treatment reactor tanks which utilise enhanced micro-nutrient technology, a plastic media, and a patented aeration application. The aeration action provides air bubbles that are only 3mm in diameter compared to the normal 20mm which results in more rapid addition of oxygen to the waste water being treated and giving much greater processing/treatment control of the dissolved oxygen levels ranging above 3.0 mg/L. This is unique to BioSolv and is a major development in efficient aeration. The control of dissolved oxygen is critical in any aerated waste water plant and can be a problem if levels are not sufficient enough to maintain the living bacterial components that thrive on the moving plastic media carriers. The tiny air bubbles are generated on specifically designed grids fitted above the base of the reactor tanks to ensure that a constant aeration action keeps the plastic media carriers continuously moving / flowing in a circular rotating manner to ensure efficient oxygen transfer throughout the entire reactor tank. The core of the process is the suspended media, or bio-film carrier elements, which are made of polyethylene with a density slightly below that of water. The elements are designed to provide a large protected surface area for bio-film growth. This process allows for operation at a higher biomass inventory per m3 of reactor volume than would be achievable with a conventional activated sludge process (ASP), without additional solids loading on the secondary clarifiers. This results in a reduction in the footprint size of the facility relative to a conventional ASP system. The method of bacterial development is also unique and utilises the growth of biofilms which are far more resilient to process disturbances compared to other types of biological treatment processes such as extended aeration. The biofilms

are encouraged to grow inside carefully designed plastic carriers that have a high internal surface area. The internal biofilm growth is protected from surface frictional scouring and attritional loss as the carriers touch each other during the continual aeration movement maintained by the small 3mm air bubbles. With this technology, it is possible to handle extremely high loading conditions without any problems of clogging.

The biomass in the BioSolv system is resilient against factors such as temporary limitation of nutrients, toxicity spikes, pH changes, and temperature changes. These factors may reduce the biological capacity of the biofilm system temporarily, but will not significantly affect the biomass in the reactor. The process will adjust itself to normal performance in a very short time after the shock.

Since the biomass is attached to the moving plastic media, which is maintained in the reactor tanks, the suspended/attached growth process is less susceptible to solids washout during peak wet weather flows than conventional ASPs.

This photograph shows a cross section of the internal walls of a plastic carrier at high magnification. Notice the strong well developed biofilms that digests the sewage.

This shows diagrammatically how the biological layer on the carrier operates. It is worth noting that the internal surface of the carrier protects the biological layer from attrition as the carrier is moved around in the waste liquor by the air bubbles. Thus digestion and break down of the sewage occurs far more rapidly, and it also develops less sludge.

The Infinity Enhanced Bio-Filtration Sewage Treatment System BIOSOLV uses two separate aeration tanks for: 1. Enhanced micro-nutrient generation to quickly digest the solid sewage waste 2. Enhanced microbe generation in which different bacterial colonies develop to digest the waste associated with urine which is essentially ammonia.

With all sewage treatment plants, a certain amount of sludge is produced. The final clarifier of our BioSolv system utilises tilted tube technology to effectively remove suspended solids from the final effluent. Also if low a phosphate level is a requirement of the discharge standards, we can easily treat the liquor in the settlement tank to remove phosphates. Also by recirculating the final effluent, denitrification can be achieved for nitrate removal. With the fully installed BioSolv systems, any phosphate removed will become part of the sludge and add to the fertiliser qualities of the dried sludge. If the final effluent is to be used or treated with a hydroponics application, the nitrate and phosphate treatment process will not be installed and their removal will not take place in the BioSolv system itself.

INFINITY BIOSOLV: Innovative Waste Water Treatment

Infinity Enhanced Bio-Filtration Sewage Treatment System BIOSOLV is easy to operate with no recycled activated sludge.

Infinity BIOSOLV Summary This unique approach of Tomher Environmental Sdn Bhd for sewage and waste water treatment results in a system that: Has a smaller footprint and can be easily expanded by utilising modular design The technology can be easily applied to modify and upgrade existing waste water systems Has a lower power consumption Is far easier to control and maintain Plugging of aeration devices is eliminated Requires no sludge recycle loop and the associated control of the mixed liquor suspended solids (MLSS) as is required with activated sludge plants. Less sludge is produced compared to an extended aeration sewage treatment plant Will tolerate changes in flow rate without significant effect on the discharge quality The process is far more stable with reliable results Will easily achieve the desired effluent standards to Malaysian Standards A or B as required The sludge developed is far more robust and suffers far less from the risk of bulking due to filamentous organisms which are generally not developed in this type of process The sludge can be easily dried on specially designed Tomher drying beds to produce a dry fertiliser that can be used in gardening or farming. Desired discharge levels of Nitrate and Phosphate can easily be achieved as desired The final effluent is more than suitable as a feed for hydroponic systems which we can also provide to produce lush green leafy shrubs, flowers, etc, etc and typical results of hydroponic growth is shown in the attached photographs. 828805-D
