----------Pak terror link to High Court blast mail By Dalip Singh Sep 10 2011 THE security agencies probing Wednesdays blast at the Delhi High Court have found evidence which point to the involvement of elements from across the border in t he dastardly attack that killed 13 persons. A college student, Shoaib Ahmad Sheikh, who had sent the first email claiming re sponsibility for the attack, has reportedly confessed to the investigators that he got the orders to send the mail from across the border. Sheikh had sent the mai l from a cyber caf in Kishtwar, Jammu on Wednesday, to a media house, hours after the attack from email address: harkatuljihadi2011@ gmail. com. He was identified on the basis of the physical description given by the owner of the Global Cyber Caf, from where the mail had been sent. A team of NIA, forensic experts from Hyderabad and Jammu police is interrogating the first year college student from Kishtwar. Sources said Sheikh has told the interrogators that he w as ordered to send the mail after the high intensity blast. Though the blast too k place at 10.14 am, the terror mail claiming responsibility landed up on televi sion channel offices at 1.14 pm. Sources confirmed that the teenager has confessed before the interrogating team that he was told by people from across the border that he should wait for a newsb reak or an intimation of the blast and then send the mail to television channels . This suggests that the author of the mail did not know about the intended targ et and timing of the blast which is part of terrorists modus operandi where cells operate on the need to know basis. Sources also said Sheikh had received two international calls on his mobile phon e on the day of the blast, one from Pakistan and another from Saudi Arabia. Howe ver, the investigators are trying to find out why did he take so much time in se nding the email? The mail merely named Harkatul Jehadi, but the investigation an d intelligence agencies are interpreting it as the brainchild of Harkat- ul- Jeh adi Islami ( HuJI) the first Pakistan- based terror outfit raised by Fazalur Reh man Khalil. It, however, disintegrated into various other groups, including the one that operated out of Bangladesh. Pakistan- based HuJIs operational commander Ilyas Kashmiri is said to have been killed in a US drone attack on June 4, 2010. At the press conference on Friday, Union home minister P. Chidambaram too did no

t rule out cross- border links to the blast. He, however, said every organisation will only be a suspect until the investigat ion agencies get evidence to nail the perpetrator of terror strike, the second a t Delhi High Court since May. While claiming promising leads into the blast probe, Chidambaram also said that h elp of foreign security agencies were also being taken to get to the bottom of t he terror strike. Post Wednesday attack, the television channels and police are being flooded with emails claiming responsibility of the blasts. So far, four terror mails have co me up. Out of them, one has used the identity of Harkatul Jehadi, while the rema ining are attributed to home- grown terror outfit Indian Mujahideen ( IM). Sources interpret the remaining three mails as an attempt either to mislead inve stigators and create an impression that it has not been orchestrated from across the border or they could be just pranks. The latest mail has been again sent by a person named Chottoo who claims to be a member of the IM. "More than two dozen armed men attacked Hindu s properties in Pannu Aqil town on Thursday as a revenge for the alleged sexual assault of a Kalhoro girl by a pri vate school s gatekeeper, who is said to be a Hindu," Pannu Aqil SHO Javed Alam said. A heavy contingent of police reached the town to push back the attackers, killin g two of them in an exchange of fire. A policeman and a Hindu trader were among the several others who were injured in the incident. Hindus live in large numbers in the interior areas of southern Sindh province si nce Partition of the subcontinent in 1947. Fearing a backlash from the tribesmen amid the allegations of sexual assault of the seven-year-old Kalhoro girl, the Hindus in Pannu Aqil town had kept their bu sinesses shut. 9 September 2011 A Jihadist group has claimed responsibility for recent violence in Chinas far-wes tern Xinjiang region, saying in a video message that the attacks, which left up to 40 people dead in two cities, were revenge against the Chinese government. The Turkestan Islamic Party (TIP), an Islamist group that has carried out severa l attacks in Xinjiang and other parts of China and has called for the Muslim-maj ority Western regions independence, said in a video message it had been behind kn ife-attacks and blasts in Hotan and Kashgar that left up to 40 people, including at least 20 attackers, dead. The 10-minute 44-second video message, which showed TIP leader Abdul Shakoor Dam la, was the first claim of responsibility for the attacks, which Chinese authori ties had blamed on terrorists trained in camps in Pakistan. The United States-ba sed SITE Intelligence Group said the video was made by the TIP, the Associated P ress reported. Hotel receptionist Baha Mousa, 26, was hooded, assaulted and held in stress posi tions along with nine other Iraqi detainees following their detention by 1st Bat talion the Queens Lancashire Regiment (1QLR), it said. The inquiry chaired by a r etired judge found numerous soldiers were involved in the abuse in September 200 3 and accused others of a lack of moral courage in failing to report what was happ ening. It also said the Ministry of Defence was guilty of a corporate failure to prevent such abuse, saying it had no proper doctrine on interrogation methods at the tim e of the British and US invasion of Iraq in March 2003. Defence Secretary Liam F ox described the events detailed as deplorable, shocking and shameful, saying ther e were no excuses. I dont have any more details now. The governor of South Darfur, Abdel Hamid Kasha, told Reuters that police had be en trying to free three soldiers taken hostage by unknown armed groups when clas hes erupted, adding that details were unclear. Kasha denied a report by Sudanese daily Al-Ahdath that one of the hostages was 3 4-year old Italian aid worker Francesco Azzara who was abducted in South Darfur by an armed group last month. The Italian is another case, Kasha said. A counter-insurgency campaign against non-Arab rebels in Darfur in 2003 sparked a humanitarian crisis in the western Sudan region in which more than two million people have fled their homes, according to the United Nations. NATO said two of its service members were killed in the south and officials said a Turkish engineer and five Afghan soldiers were killed in separate incidents i n the countrys west and east. The three were confirmed dead while two persons were reported missing after trag edy struck the ship, ITB Jacksonville, near Apapa port in Nigerian city of Lagos on Sunday. Ten persons, all of them Indians, were rescued after the incident and taken to a hospital for emergency medical attention. "All the rescued persons were Indians. They were taken to a search and rescue ho spital in Apapa port in Lagos," a spokesperson for the Nigerian Maritime Adminis tration (NIMASA), Lami Tumaka, said. Three bodies were later recovered but two are still missing. NIMASA is the body responsible for rescue operations on Nigeria s territorial wa ters. On the origin of the ship, Tumaka said the vessel was flying Liberian flag thoug h the documents found on it said Panama, which made the origin difficult to asce rtain. Eyewitnesses said the ship s engine exploded and the vessel went ablaze as it ap proached Nigeria s commercial capital of Lagos. US soldier killed BBC reporter in Afghanistan 9 September 2011 KABUL: The Nato-led foreign military force in Afghanistan admitted Thursday that a US soldier shot dead an Afghan journalist working for the BBC in July after m istaking him for a suicide bomber. Ahmed Omed Khpulwak, 25, was killed in a case of mistaken identity shortly after 2 0 people died in a suicide bombing at the office where he was working in trouble d southern Afghanistan. The US soldier responsible for his death is not facing any disciplinary action i n connection with the incident, International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) s pokesman Lieutenant Colonel Jimmie Cummings said. Cummings could not confirm whether the soldier was still on active duty in Afgha nistan. After a thorough investigation, it was determined the reporter was killed in a ca se of mistaken identity, ISAF said in a statement. Mr Khpulwak was shot by an ISAF member who believed he was an insurgent that pose d a threat and was about to detonate a suicide vest improvised explosive device. It said the soldier involved had complied with the laws of armed conflict and rul es of engagement and acted reasonably under the circumstances. Khpulwaks death on July 28 came after two suicide bombers struck the offices of state broadcaster R TA (Radio Television Afghanistan) in Uruzgan province in Afghanistans south, an a rea seen as the Talibans heartland. The man, who is married to a woman from Kulhuduffushi, was described as older bu t is not known to have a criminal record, according to Police Sub-Inspector Ahme d Shiyam. The abuse was discovered by a younger sister in the family, Shiyam said. After notifying the islands Family and Children Services Centre, the family took the baby to a nearby hospital for inspection. "They [Sudan and South Sudan] have agreed that between 11 September and 30 Septe mber there is going to be a redeployment or withdrawal of the troops," Mr Mulet told reporters on Thursday. He added that Khartoum had originally said it would only pull out its troops whe n an administration was in place in Abyei, but had now dropped that condition.
