----------Pak terror link to High Court blast mail By Dalip Singh Sep 10 2011 THE security agencies probing Wednesdays blast at the Delhi High Court have found evidence which point to the involvement of elements from across the border in t he dastardly attack that killed 13 persons. A college student, Shoaib Ahmad Sheikh, who had sent the first email claiming re sponsibility for the attack, has reportedly confessed to the investigators that he got the orders to send the mail from across the border. Sheikh had sent the mai l from a cyber caf in Kishtwar, Jammu on Wednesday, to a media house, hours after the attack from email address: harkatuljihadi2011@ gmail. com. He was identified on the basis of the physical description given by the owner of the Global Cyber Caf, from where the mail had been sent. A team of NIA, forensic experts from Hyderabad and Jammu police is interrogating the first year college student from Kishtwar. Sources said Sheikh has told the interrogators that he w as ordered to send the mail after the high intensity blast. Though the blast too k place at 10.14 am, the terror mail claiming responsibility landed up on televi sion channel offices at 1.14 pm. Sources confirmed that the teenager has confessed before the interrogating team that he was told by people from across the border that he should wait for a newsb reak or an intimation of the blast and then send the mail to television channels . This suggests that the author of the mail did not know about the intended targ et and timing of the blast which is part of terrorists modus operandi where cells operate on the need to know basis. Sources also said Sheikh had received two international calls on his mobile phon e on the day of the blast, one from Pakistan and another from Saudi Arabia. Howe ver, the investigators are trying to find out why did he take so much time in se nding the email? The mail merely named Harkatul Jehadi, but the investigation an d intelligence agencies are interpreting it as the brainchild of Harkat- ul- Jeh adi Islami ( HuJI) the first Pakistan- based terror outfit raised by Fazalur Reh man Khalil. It, however, disintegrated into various other groups, including the one that operated out of Bangladesh. Pakistan- based HuJIs operational commander Ilyas Kashmiri is said to have been killed in a US drone attack on June 4, 2010. At the press conference on Friday, Union home minister P. Chidambaram too did no

t rule out cross- border links to the blast. He, however, said every organisation will only be a suspect until the investigat ion agencies get evidence to nail the perpetrator of terror strike, the second a t Delhi High Court since May. While claiming promising leads into the blast probe, Chidambaram also said that h elp of foreign security agencies were also being taken to get to the bottom of t he terror strike. Post Wednesday attack, the television channels and police are being flooded with emails claiming responsibility of the blasts. So far, four terror mails have co me up. Out of them, one has used the identity of Harkatul Jehadi, while the rema ining are attributed to home- grown terror outfit Indian Mujahideen ( IM). Sources interpret the remaining three mails as an attempt either to mislead inve stigators and create an impression that it has not been orchestrated from across the border or they could be just pranks. The latest mail has been again sent by a person named Chottoo who claims to be a member of the IM. The previous mail written under the assumed name of Ali Saed E l Hoorie of the IM was sent to the official email address of the Delhi Police: de lpol@ nic. in on Thursday. Times of India ---------War on terror: China slams US, allies for double standards Sep 10 2011 Beijing: Chinas state media on Friday accused Western countries of double standa rds in their fight against terrorism, ahead of the 10th anniversary of 9/11 attac ks.

The comment piece by the official Xinhua news agency blamed Washington in partic ular for turning a blind eye to the damage caused by extremists in Russias Chech nya and in Chinas own far-western region of Xinjiang. Nearly 10 years after 9/11,Xinhua said the fight against terror was far from ove r,with terrorists changing tactics and increasing collaboration with separatists and religious extremists. A bigger challenge to the worlds anti-terror effort, though,is a lack of a common standard, the comment said. In particular, the US and its Western allies have repeatedly used double standard s on anti-terror issues, which have obstructed the progress of the global effort. Xinhua pointed to the US refusal in 2009 to extradite back to China members of i ts mainly Muslim Uighur minority held at US military prison camp Guantanamo Bay who were cleared of wrongdoing as an example of double standards. Coming in the wake of the Delhi High Court blast that killed 13 persons and subs equent terror mails threatening more attacks, the intelligence input had a scram bling effect on the State security agencies particularly with the coming festive season. We received an input from our counterparts in the Centre that five militants of t he Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen terror outfit have sneaked into West Bengal a few days b ack through the porous border in Malda district. The militants have subsequently split up in three groups and headed in different directions to carry out terror attacks, possibly in crowded marketplaces or court premises or at important ins tallations like airports or railway stations, a senior State Intelligence Branch official said here on Friday. http://www.thehindu.com/news/national/article2439846.ece ---------Delhi HC blast: HuJI email sender detained Sep 9, 2011 NEW DELHI: The person who sent the first HuJI email claiming responsibility fo r the Delhi high court blast has been taken into custody. The Islamic Jihad militant group blamed an Israeli air strike for the death of R emah al-Hasani, a member of its military wing, the al-Quds Brigades. But Israel s army denied any role in Wednesday s late-night incident. On Tuesday evening, an Israeli air raid on Gaza killed a militant from the Popul ar Resistance Committees (PRC) and wounded a father and his two sons. The latest violence comes despite a ceasefire that came into force after a spasm of violence that followed a militant attack in Eilat on 18 August, which left e ight Israelis dead. Mosque attack Meanwhile, settler violence in the West Bank has also increased in recent days. Vandals sprayed graffiti on a mosque near Nablus, torched two Palestinian cars a nd uprooted olive trees in overnight attacks on Thursday that locals blamed on J ewish settlers. The mosque in Yatma village, some 10km (six miles) south of Nablus, was spray-pa inted with the Hebrew words for "price tag" and "Migron" - a settlement outpost where Israeli troops demolished three homes on Monday. 9 September 2011 A Jihadist group has claimed responsibility for recent violence in Chinas far-wes tern Xinjiang region, saying in a video message that the attacks, which left up to 40 people dead in two cities, were revenge against the Chinese government. The Turkestan Islamic Party (TIP), an Islamist group that has carried out severa l attacks in Xinjiang and other parts of China and has called for the Muslim-maj ority Western regions independence, said in a video message it had been behind kn ife-attacks and blasts in Hotan and Kashgar that left up to 40 people, including at least 20 attackers, dead. The 10-minute 44-second video message, which showed TIP leader Abdul Shakoor Dam la, was the first claim of responsibility for the attacks, which Chinese authori ties had blamed on terrorists trained in camps in Pakistan. The United States-ba sed SITE Intelligence Group said the video was made by the TIP, the Associated P ress reported. Asked about the video and the TIP s claims, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Liu We imin said: I havent seen the video you mentioned. Our principled position is that at present, a small handful of terrorist forces with the name of East Turkestan, out of motives of splitting China, are conducting rampant violent terrorist act ivities within Chinas border [and] seriously undermine Chinas national unity, and regional peace and stability. If the claims are proved accurate, the video will reaffirm Chinese fears of the TIPs growing presence in neighbouring Pakistan, and also question claims by overs eas exiled Uighur groups who had blamed the suppression of protests by police fo r triggering violence in Hotan. Her refusal to accompany Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to Dhaka came as a huge b low and didnt go down well within the Congress. While her action has been dismiss ed as egocentric, there seems to be more than what meets the eye. Mamata, it seems, had her own political consideration behind her decision to dri ve a spanner in the Teesta project. Sources said one of the major factors was th at Mamata wanted to win over the traditional vote bank of the Congress, spread o ver the north Bengal region. Malda, Jalpaiguri and North Dinajpur are the three Congress stronghold districts in north Bengal. The party ( Congress) also had a sizable support base in parts of Darjeeling dis

trict, which has now switched allegiance to Trinamool Congress. Political observers feel that despite the absolute majority in the state assembl y, Trinamool Congress is basically seen as a south Bengal- based political party. So, this was a golden opportunity for Mamata to capitalise on the sentiment of a large number of people living in north Bengal over the Teesta water- sharing d eal. It was a political ploy to displace the Congress from large parts of north Benga l over the sensitive Teesta water- sharing issue and also to secure the Oppositi on votes ( mainly CPMs) into the Trinamool fold, a source said.
