The McCanns clearly haven't learned much when it comes to recruitment. The last man they hired that was involved in securing the safe return of an oil tycoon was Kevin Halligen, wanted by the FBI in relation to money laundering charges. Now (according to an innocuous little teaser in the Daily Mail) they have hired retired Met Officer, Nigel Brown, former owner of GSS Global who had been advising on security in Israel. In 2009 GSS Global was bought out by Canada's Garda Security, one of the largest of the Risk and Security Organisations in the world (so that's what the McCanns were doing on their trips to Canada). Garda took over from Kroll in guarding UK diplomats in Iraq and Afghanistan in 2006, just one of several major contracts won as a result of the war effort (one contract alone scored the company $100 million) Although Brown was named Investigator of the Year in 2007 his achievements haven't been without their fair share of controversy. Brown's previous company, ISC Global (where he was Joint Chief Executive Officer) was investigated by Scotland Yard. It was alleged that Nigel Brown's ISC Global paid DS Gary Flood, a police officer in the extradition unit for sensitive information and passed it onto to their wealthy Russian clients. The financial dossier, according to The Times, shows that ISC Global was paid more than 6 million from offshore companies linked to the most vocal opponents of President Putin of Russia. A former ISC insider passed the dossier to the intelligence arm of the anti-corruption squad in February 2006. One of the clients mentioned in the ISC Global dossier was Boris Berezovsky - friend of Alexander Litvinenko, whose slow, lingering death was conceptualised for the press by Public Relations company, Bell Pottinger who also represented the McCanns and the Ocean Club in May 2007. Lord Bell, former adviser to Margaret Thatcher and founder of Bell Pottinger respresented Berezovsky as he fought his former wife, Galina over the couple's 6.8 billion estate in a fierce divorce settlement. Another friend of Lord Bell, Howell James is responsible for personally requesting the secondment of Clarence Mitchell to the FCO to represent the McCanns. James was another of Thatcher's favourites. The McCann's previous PI Kevin Halligen worked with Major General John Taylor Holmes (former Director of Special Forces) at the Inkerman Group on the 'Minerva Programme' for QinetiQ. In fact, it was John Holmes who put Halligen's name forward for entry into the Special Forces Club. According to the Police files and media reports, Litvineko visited the offices of Holme's Erinys International and Titon International immediately prior to his death in November 2006. The properties were owned by Boris Berezovsky.

Litvinenko also visited the offices of Brown's ISC Global at 1 Cavendish Place at this time (it had been renamed and rebranded in 2005 as RISC Management by co-founder, Keith Hunter). Traces of Polonium

renamed and rebranded in 2005 as RISC Management by co-founder, Keith Hunter). Traces of Polonium 210 were found at each of the sites. Brown's company ISC Global ceased trading under that name in December 2005, shortly after the company's chairman, Stephen Curtis (a British lawyer) died in a helicopter crash. The British Press subsequently alleged that Curtis and ISC was at the centre of the campaign to smear Putin. Curtis is reported to have told friends, "If you find me dead, it won't be an accident". At the time of Stephen's death it is a believed that he had offered to strike a deal with British Investigators to reveal all he knew about the business activities of Russina Billionaire, Mikhail Khodorkovsky. In October 2003, Khodorkovsky had been arrested by police at a Siberian airport. He was charged with fraud and embezzlement. Curtis and Brown had been working for Khodorkovsky during his residence in the UK: Curtis co-managing his business and financial concerns and Brown's ISC Global providing security. The story was covered by Mark Hollingsworth, writing for The Daily Mail.

Stephen Curtis - Brown's former boss who was killed in a helicopter crash in 2004. The Times alleged that two companies linked to Mr Berezovsky Bowyer Consultants Ltd, of Gibraltar, and Tower Management Ltd, in London made payments totalling almost 600,000 to ISC. Curtis, 45, died in March 2004 alongside Max Radford, the pilot, when their helicopter crashed near Bournemouth airport on the way to Dublin. The Russian Prosecutor's Office accused Leonid Nevzlin, co-founder of Brown's ISC Global of being complicit in the death of Litvinenko. Like Mikhail Cherney (another Bell Pottinger client) Nevzlin is currently living in Israel. In 2006 Brown's subsequent company GardaWorld bought ATI Systems, America's second largest cash handling company for $395 billion. In the same year it bought Kroll Security International. Nigel Brown is also on the books of TAL Global - heading up their London office. The company's CEO and President is Johnathan Tal and like several of Kevin Halligen's friends, is a regular contributor to Fox News. The Mossad agents in Dubai who were responsible for the murder of Hamas commander, Mahmoud alMabhouh in January 2010 (although more famous for having used illegal British Passports) used mastercards issued by a company called Payoneer, based in New York. Payoneer is a business created Yuval Tal, a former Special Ops soldier and Mossad agent and nephew of Jonhathan Tal, Brown's boss at TAL Global. Robert Fisk has already of the possible collusion between Israel and Britain in the assassination. Like several of Michael Wright's companies (Kate's cousin), Payoneer provides alternative software solutions for prepaid payment transactions. Yuval Tal was endorsed by British Attorney and fellow panel member, Robert Courtneidge of Bristol's Osborne Clarke. Silcon Valley's 'Greylock Partners' are major investors in the company. As an investigator in Silicon Valley during the technology boom of the late 80s, Johnathan Tal was a pioneer in computer and cyber investigations. His investigative career began as a military field intelligence officer for the Israeli Armed Forces during the early 1970s before transferring his skills across to the Valley. Tal is also President of the Homeland Security Research Corporation - major US Homeland Security contractors. TAL Global is internationally recognized for its work with multi-national Fortune 500 companies and international governmental agencies (Candice Tal heads up Infortal) Nigel Brown served 13 years with the Metropolitan Police at New Scotland Yard before retiring in 1992. What brought about Brown's early retirement from the Met is unclear (Brown is still only in his midfifties). In June 2009 a Garda Press Release announced that the death of Curtis in March, 2004 disrupted links between ISC Global and their Russian clients and that ISC Global was split into GSS Global (under Brown) and Risc Management (under Hunter and Tony Brightwell) at the beginning of 2006.

and Risc Management (under Hunter and Tony Brightwell) at the beginning of 2006. I was wondering if all this was an early indication that the trail will take us back toward Morocco, but the announcement of the new team was so underplayed in the Daily Mail report (buried at the bottom of a perfectly invalid non-story about the sale of Apartment 5A) that one really has to wary of the news having any credibility at all. It's an unusual detail though all the same. Nigel Brown - Regional Director, Tal Global EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) Based in TAL Globals London office, Mr. Brown is responsible for supporting clients with a complete set of security, technology, and investigative services. He has more than 28 years of experience in corporate security, protection, investigations, and law enforcement - most recently as co-founder and CEO of GSS Global, a leading European risk consulting firm. There he dealt in internal controls and compliance, banking safeguards, security systems engineering, VIP protection and threat monitoring, white collar crime, due diligence, employee screening, and IT investigations. Mr. Brown began his private sector security career by leading the Security and Investigation team at aviation and security integration firm ICTS London. Shortly thereafter, he established, International Security Consultancy Ltd --ISC, specializing in consulting and investigations. Under his direction, the firm became a leading consultancy for multi-national companies covering all aspects of risk assessments through investigations for several renowned clients. Throughout his career, Mr. Brown has supported clients in more than 30 countries, having lived or worked in Israel, London, Cape Town, Namibia, Paris, Kenya, and Ecuador. Mr. Brown served 13 years with the Metropolitan Police-New Scotland Yard. During this time he worked in a wide cross section of disciplines, including the Anti-Terrorist Squad, Crime Squad, Drugs Squad, Advanced Driver, Firearms Officer (Marksman). He retired with an Exemplary Conduct Certification and four Bravery awards. He is a graduate of the University in London with a degree in Medical Laboratory Science. I wonder what the exact figure for donations to the No Stone Left Unturned Fund is over the years. The 1 million quoted seemed extraordinarily low for such a juggernaut global campaign. more info: A multibillion dollar industry built on the most dangerous jobs in the world - May 2007 (talks about Nigel Brown and Garda World, Blackwater, Control Risks and Aegis International) GardaWorld Security Corporation Detective accused of taking bribes from Russian exiles (about Brown's company ISC Global - later RISC Management Team) British lawyer hatched Putin smears (about Brown's company ISC Global) Life and death of the Oligarchs' lawyer Post Post/Comments (4) Archive Print
