PREFACE
This book is a plain translation of the book of Joshua
in the Septuagint or Greek Old Testament (LXX). As in the
other translations specifically THE WILL New Testament
(Greek to English) and GENESIS, EXODUS, LEVITICUS
(Greek-English) which are already published, Greek words
are translated into their equivalent English words taking into
consideration both the Greek and English grammar.
Joshua was the attendant of Mouses, the servant of
God. When Mouses died, God appointed Joshua to lead the
Israelites into the promised land. They crossed the Jordan
River on dry land as when Mouses led the Israelites and
crossed the Red Sea on dry land.
It is Joshua who wrote Deuteronomy (Joshua 8:32).
In this book, we can see how the Israelites fought against
the inhabitants of the promised land. We can also see the
inheritance of the twelve tribes of Israel by lots with their
specific boundaries. It is a short book but it is full of infor-
mation about history and God especially on how to serve
Him.
May the praise, glory, and might be always to our
Father in heaven through our Lord Iesous Christ.

CHAPTER ONE
1And it happened after the death of Mouses the
Lord said to Iesous the son of Naue the attendant of

Mouses saying:
2”Mouses the servant of Me has
died; now therefore having stood up go
through the Jordan, thou and all this
people, into the land, which I Myself
give to them, 3every place, on whichever
you go on with the footstep of the feet
of you, I will give it to you, which man-
ner I have said to Mouses, 4the wilder-
ness and Antilibanon until the great
river, the Euphrates River, and until the
last of the sea from the setting of the sun
shall be the borders of you. 5A man
shall not stand against before you all the
days of the life of thee, and just as I was
with Mouses, thus I will also be with
thee and I will not forsake thee nor shall
I overlook thee. 6Be strong and manly;
for thou thyself shall apportion the land
to this people, which I swore to the fa-
thers of you to give to them. 7Therefore
be strong and manly to guard and to do
as Mouses the servant of Me com-
manded to thee, and thou shall not turn
away from them into the right nor into
the left, in order that thou shall under-
stand in all, whichever thou shall do.

part out of the mouth of thee, and thou

shall care in it day and night, in order
that thou shall understand to do all the
things having been written; then pros-
pering thou shall prosper the ways of
thee and then thou shall understand.
9Behold I have commanded to thee: Be
strong and manly, thou shall not be cow-

ard nor shall thou fear, because the Lord
the God of thee is with thee into all,
wherever thou go.”

And Iesous commanded to the scribes of the people
saying:
11”Enter throughout the middle of
the camp of the people and command to
the people saying:
‘Prepare provision, because
still three days and you your-
selves shall go through this Jor-
dan River entering to possess the
land, which the Lord the God of
the fathers of you shall give to
you.’”

And Iesous said to Rhouben and to Gad and to the half
of the tribe of Manasses:
13”Rememberthe word of the Lord,
which Mouses the servant of the Lord
commanded to you saying:

‘The Lord the God of you

rested you and gave to you this
land. 14Let the women of you
and the children of you and the
cattle of you dwell in the land,
which He gave to you; and you
yourselves the well-armed shall
go through before the brothers
of you, all the strong, and you
shall fight with them, 15until the
Lord the God of you shall rest
the brothers of you just as also
you and these shall also inherit
the land, which the Lord the
God of us shall give to them;
and you shall go away each into
the inheritance of him, which
Mouses has given to you into
the other side of the Jordan River
from the rising of the sun.’”

And having answered they said to Iesous:
“All, whatsoever thou command to
us, we shall do also into every place,
wherever thou send us, we shall go;
17according to all, whatsoever we heard
in Mouses, we shall follow thee, how-

ever let the Lord the God of us stand
with thee, which manner He was with
Mouses. 18And the man, whoever shall
disobey thee and who shall not hear the
words of thee as thou command to him,
let him die but be strong and manly.”
CHAPTER TWO
1And Iesous the son of Naue sent out of Sattin
two young men to spy saying:

“Go up and see the land and Jeri-
cho.”
And having gone the two young men entered into Jericho
and they entered into the house of a woman a prostitute,
to whom a name Rhahab, and they loosened there. 2And
it was reported to the king of Jericho saying:
“Men of the sons of Israel have
gone into here to spy the land.”

And the king of Jericho sent and said to Rhahab saying:
“Lead out the men who have gone
into the house of thee during the night;
for they have come to spy the land.”
4
And having taken the men the woman hid them and she
said to them saying:
“The men have entered to me; 5but
as the gate was being closed in the dark-
ness, the men also went out; I under-
stand not where they have gone; pursue
down behind them, if you overtake
them.”
6
And she herself made them go up on the housetop and
she hid them in the linen-reed being arranged on the
housetop. 7And the men pursued down behind them a
way on the Jordan on the passages, and the gate was
closed. And it happened as the men who pursue down

behind them went out 8and also they rather before them
to sleep, she herself also went up to them on the housetop
9
and she said to them:
“I understand that the Lord has
given to you the land, for the fear of you
has fallen on us; 10for we heard that the
Lord God dried down the Red Sea from
the face of you, when you went out of
the land of Egypt, and whatsoever He
did to the two kings of the Amorrites,
who were on the other side of Jordan,
Seon and Og, whom you destroyed
them; 11and hearing we ourselves stood
out in the heart of us, and a spirit stood
not still in no one of us from the face of
you, because the Lord the God of you is
the God in heaven above and on the
earth below. 12And now swear to me
the Lord God, because I shall do to you
mercy and you yourselves shall also do
mercy in the house of the father of me
13and you shall make alive the house of
the father of me and the mother of me

and the brothers of me and the whole
house of me and all, whatsoever is in
them, and you shall spare the psyche of
me out of death.”
14
And the men said to her:
“The psyche of us instead of you
into death.”
And she herself said:

“As the Lord shall deliver to you the
city, you shall do mercy and truth into
me.”
15
And she let them down through the window 16and she
said to them:
“Go away into the hill country, the
men who pursue down shall not meet
you, and you shall hide there three days,
until the men who pursue down behind
you shall return, and after these you
shall go away into the way of you.”
17
And the men said to her:
“We are innocent to this oath of
thee; 18behold we ourselves shall go into
a part of the city, and thou shall place
the sign, thou shall bind this scarlet cord
into the window, through which thou let
us down through it, and thou shall as-
semble to thyself the father of thee and
the mother of thee and the brothers of
thee and the whole house of the father
of thee into the house of thee. 19And it
shall be any, whoever shall come out of
the door of the house of thee outside,
shall be guilty to himself, and we our-
selves are innocent to this oath of thee;
and whosoever shall come with thee in
the house of thee, we ourselves shall be
guilty. 20And if someone shall do us
wrong or also reveal these words of us,

we shall be innocent to this oath of
thee.”
21
And she said to them:
“Let it be thus according to the
word of you.”
And she sent them out. 22And they went and they came
into the hill country and they remained there three days
and the men who pursue down sought out all the ways
and they found not. 23And the two young men returned
and went down out of the mountain and they went to
Iesous the son of Naue and they narrated to him all the
things which have happened to them. 24And they said to
Iesous that:
“The Lord delivered all the land in
the hand of us, and every man dwelling
that land melted from us.”
CHAPTER THREE
1And Iesous rose up early in the morning, and
they took up out of Sattin and they came until the Jor-
dan River and they loosened there before the time to go
through. 2And it happened after three days the scribes
went through the camp 3and they commanded to the
people saying:
“When you see the ark of the cov-
enant of the Lord the God of us and the
priests of us and the Levites taking it,
you shall take up from the place of you
and you shall go behind it; 4but let it

stand far between you and that as many
as two thousand cubits; you shall not
draw near it, in order that you shall
understand the way, which you shall go
on it; for you have not gone the way
from yesterday and third day.”

And Iesous said to the people:
“Purify into the morrow, because to-
morrow the Lord shall do wonders in
you.”
6
And Iesous said to the priests:
“Take the ark of the covenant of the
Lord and you shall go before the
people.”
And the priests took the ark of the covenant of the Lord
and they went in front of the people. 7And the Lord said
to Iesous:
“In this day I will begin to exalt
thee before all of the sons of Israel, in
order that they shall know, as I was with
Mouses, thus I will be also with thee.
8And now command to the priests tak-
ing the ark of the covenant saying:

‘As you enter on a part of
the water of the Jordan River,
you shall also stand in the Jor-
dan.’”
9
And Iesous said to the sons of Israel:
“Lead forth here and hear the word
of the Lord the God of us. 10In this you
shall know that God lives in you and
destroying He will destroy from the face
of us the Cananean and the Chettite and
the Pherezite and the Hevite and the
Amorrite and the Gergesite and the
Jebusite; 11behold the ark of the covenant
of the Lord of all of the earth goes
through the Jordan River. 12You shall
appoint for you twelve men from the
sons of Israel, one from each tribe.
13And it shall be as the feet of the priests
who take the ark of the covenant of the

Lord of all of the earth shall rest in the
water of the Jordan River, the water of
the Jordan River shall fail, and the wa-
ter going down shall stand.”
14
And the people took up out of the tents of them to go
through the Jordan River, and the priests took the ark of
the covenant of the Lord before the people. 15And as the
priests taking the ark of the covenant were entering on
the Jordan River and the feet of the priests taking the ark
of the covenant of the Lord were dipped into a part of the
water of the Jordan River -- and the Jordan River was filled
throughout the whole banks of it as days of wheat harvest-
-, 16and the waters going down from above stood, one heap
stood standing away very exceedingly far until part of
Kariathiarim, and the water going down went down into
the sea of Araba, Salt Sea, it failed until into the end; and
the people was standing before Jericho. 17And the priests
taking the ark of the covenant of the Lord stood on the dry
in the middle of the Jordan River; and all the sons of Israel
went through the dry, until all the people completed going
through the Jordan River.
CHAPTER FOUR
1 And since all the people completed going
through the Jordan River, also the Lord said to Iesous
saying:
2”Having taken along men from the
people, one from each tribe, 3order to
them saying:
‘Take up out of the middle
of the Jordan River twelve ready
stones and having carried these
together with you yourselves
you place them in the encamp-
ment of you, wherever you shall
camp there during the night.’”
4
And Iesous called up twelve glorious men from the sons
of Israel, one from each tribe, 5and he said to them:
“Lead forth in front of me before
the face of the Lord into the middle of the
Jordan River, and having taken up from
there let each man take a stone on the
shoulders of him according to the num-
ber of the twelve tribes of Israel, 6in or-
der that these shall exist to you into a
sign lying through all time, in order that
when the son of thee shall ask thee to-
morrow saying:
‘What are these stones to

you?’
7”And thou thyself shall make clear
to the son of thee saying:
‘Because the Jordan River
failed from the face of the ark of
the covenant of the Lord of all of
the earth, as it went through it;
and these stones shall be to you
a memorial for the sons of Israel
until the age.’”
8And the sons of Israel did thus, as the Lord
commanded to Iesous, and having taken twelve stones

out of the middle of the Jordan River, just as the Lord
ordered to Iesous in the completion of the crossing of
the sons of Israel, and they carried them together with
themselves into the camp and they placed there. 9And
Iesous also set twelve other stones in it in the Jordan
River in the place which was under the feet of the priests
taking the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and they are
there until the day today. 10And the priests taking the
ark of the covenant stood in the Jordan River, until which
Iesous completed all things, which the Lord commanded
to announce to the people, and the people hastened and
they went through. 11And it happened as all the people
completed to go through, also the ark of the covenant
of the Lord went through, and the stones in front of
them.
12And the sons of Rhouben and the sons of Gad
and the men half of the tribe of Manasses went through
armed in front of the sons of Israel, just as Mouses com-
manded to them. 13Forty thousand myriads well-armed

into fight went through before the Lord into war against
Jericho city. 14In that day the Lord made Iesous to grow
before all the generations of Israel and they were fear-
ing him just as Mouses, as long as the season he lived.
15And the Lord said to Iesous saying:
16”Command to the priests taking

the ark of the covenant of the witness of
the Lord to go out of the Jordan River.”
17
And Iesous commanded to the priests saying:
“Go out of the Jordan River.”
18And it happened as the priests taking the ark
of the covenant of the Lord went out of the Jordan River
and they placed the feet on the land, the water of the
Jordan River rushed throughout the area and it was go-
ing as yesterday and third day through the whole bank.
19And the people went up out of the Jordan River on the
tenth of the first month; and the sons of Israel encamped

in Galgal throughout a part towards the rising of the sun
from Jericho. 20And these twelve stones, which he took
out of the Jordan River, Iesous set in Galgal 21saying:
“When the sons of you shall ask
you saying:
‘What are these stones?’
22 ”Announce to the sons of you
that:
‘Israel went through the
Jordan River on dry land 23of the
Lord the God of us drying out

the water of the Jordan River out
of the place in front of them un-
til which time they went
through, just as the Lord the
God of us did to the Red Sea,
which the Lord the God of us
dried up in front of us until we
passed by,’
24inorder that all the nations of the
earth shall know that the power of the
Lord is strong, and in order that you
yourselves shall worship the Lord the
God of you in all season.”
CHAPTER FIVE
1And it happened as the kings of the Amorrites
heard, who were on the other side of the Jordan River,
and the kings of Phoinicia along the sea that the Lord
God dried up the Jordan River out of the front of the
sons of Israel in the time for them to go through, and the
minds of them melted and were plagued, and prudence
was not in them not even one from the face of the sons
of Israel. 2And by this time the Lord said to Iesous:
“Make for thyself sword made of
stone out of sharp rock and having sat
circumcise the sons of Israel.”
3And Iesous made a sharp sword made of stone
and he circumcised the sons of Israel on the place being
called “Hill of the Uncircumcision.” 4And which man-
ner Iesous cleansed the sons of Israel, whosoever then
was born in the way and whosoever then were uncir-

cumcised of the ones going out of Egypt, 5Iesous circum-
cised all these; 6for forty and two years Israel walked in
the wilderness of Madbar, wherefore the majority of
them of the ones going out of the land of Egypt were
uncircumcised the men who disobey the commandments
of God, to whom He also determined for them not to see
the land, which the Lord swore to the fathers of them to
give to us, land flowing with milk and honey. 7And
instead of these He raised up the sons of them, whom
Iesous circumcised on account of them to have been
throughout the way uncircumcised. 8And having been
circumcised they had quietness continuously sitting in
the camp, until they were sound. 9And the Lord said to
Iesous the son of Naue:
“In the day today I remove the re-
proach of Egypt from you.”
And he called the name of that place “Galgal”. 10And the
sons of Israel did the Passover on the fourteenth day of
the month from evening on the west of Jericho in the other
side of the Jordan River in the field 11and they ate from the
wheat of the land unleavened and new. In this day 12the
manna failed after the time for them to have eaten out of
the wheat of the land, and manna existed no longer to the
sons of Israel; and they took the fruits of the area of the
Phoenicians in that year.
13And it happened as Iesous was in Jericho, and
having lifted up the eyes he saw a man standing before

him, and the sword being drawn in the hand of him.
And Iesous approaching said to him:
“Art thou our man or of the adver-

saries?”
14
And the man said to him:
“I am the chief officer of the power
of the Lord now arriving.”
And Iesous fell on face on the ground and said to him:
“Master, what shall thou order to
thy helper?”
15
And the chief officer of the Lord says to Iesous:
“Loose the sandals out of the feet
of thee; for the place, on which thou
thyself stood, is holy.”
CHAPTER SIX
1And
Jericho was having been closed and be-
sieged, and no one was going out of it nor going into.
2And the Lord said to Iesous:
“Behold I Myself deliver Jericho

underhand of thee and the king of it in
it being able in strength; 3and thou thy-
self deploy the fighters around it, 4(omit-
ted) 5And it shall be as you shall trum-
pet the trumpet, let all the people cry
out together, and of them crying out the
walls of the city shall fall automatically,
and all the people shall enter having
rushed each according to face into the
city.”

And Iesous the son of Naue entered to the priests 7and he
said to them saying:
“Command to the people to go
around and to surround the city, and let
the fighters go along armed before the
Lord; 8and let seven priests having seven
trumpets of priests go along similarly
before the Lord and let them signify vig-
orously, and let the ark of the covenant
of the Lord follow; 9and let the fighters
go along in front and the priests the men
gathering behind the ark of the covenant
of the Lord going and trumpeting.”
10
And Iesous commanded the people saying:
“Shout not, nor let any one hear the
voice of you, until which day he himself
shall declare to shout, and then you
shall shout.”
11And
having gone around the city the ark of the
covenant of God immediately went away into the camp
and slept there. 12And on the second day Iesous stood
up early, and the priests took the ark of the covenant of
the Lord, 13and the seven priests bearing the seven trum-
pets were going before the Lord, and after these the fight-
ers were going into and the rest of the crowd behind the
ark of the covenant of the Lord; and the priests trum-
peted the trumpets, and the rest of the whole crowd went
around the city from near 14and went again into the
camp. They were doing thus on six days. 15And on the
seventh day they stood up early and went around the
city six times; 16and on the seventh way around the

priests trumpeted, and Iesous said to the sons of Israel:
“Cry out; for the Lord delivered to
you the city. 17And the city shall be an
anathema, it and all, whatsoever is in it,
you shall acquire for the Lord of Sabaoth
except Rhahab the prostitute, her and
whatsoever is in the house of her. 18But
you yourselves guard exceedingly from
the anathema, lest perchance thinking
you yourselves shall take from the
anathema and you shall make the camp
of the sons of Israel anathema and roil
us; 19and any silver or gold or copper or
iron shall be holy to the Lord, it shall be
brought into the treasure of the Lord.”
20And the priests trumpeted the trumpets; and
as the people heard the sound of the trumpets, all the
people together roared a great and strong roar. And the
whole wall around fell, and all the people went up into
the city. 21And Iesous devoted it to destruction and
whatsoever was in the city from man and until woman,
from young and until presbyter and until calf and don-
key, in the mouth of sword. 22And Iesous said to the two
young spies:
“Enter into the house of the woman
and lead her out from there and what-
soever is to her.”
23And the two young men who spied the city
entered into the house of the woman and they led out
Rhahab the prostitute and the father of her and the
mother of her and the brothers of her and all, whatso-

ever was to her, and all the relatives of her and they set
her outside the camp of Israel. 24And the city was
burned with fire with all the things in it, however they
gave the silver and gold and copper and iron to be
brought into the treasure of the Lord. 25And Iesous made
Rhahab the prostitute to live and all the house of the
father of her, and he made her to dwell in Israel until
the day today, because she hid the spies, whom Iesous
sent to spy Jericho. 26And Iesous adjured in that day
before the Lord saying:
“Cursed is the man, who shall build
that city; he shall found it in the first-
born of him and he shall set up the gates
of it in the least of him.”
And Ozan the man out of Baithel did thus; he founded it
in Abiron the firstborn and he set up the gates of it in the
least having been kept safe.
27And the Lord was with Iesous, and the name
of him was throughout the whole land.
CHAPTER SEVEN
1And the sons of Israel were guilty of a great
guilt and they purloined from the anathema; and Achar
son of Charmi son of Zambri son of Zara out of the tribe
of Ioudas took from the anathema; and the Lord was
angry with wrath to the sons of Israel. 2And Iesous sent
men into Gai, which is throughout Baithel, saying:
“Spy Gai.”

And the men went up and they spied Gai. And they
returned to Iesous and said to him:
“Let not all the people go up, but
let about two thousand or three thou-
sand men go up and let them siege the
city; thou shall not lead up there all the
people, for they are few.”
4
And about three thousand men went up and Gai fled from
the face of the men. 5And they killed from them men of
Gai into thirty and six men and they pursued them down
from the gate and they struck them on the descent; and
the heart of the people were terrified and became as water.
6And Iesous ripped the garments of him and
Iesous fell on the ground on face before the Lord until

evening, he and the presbyters of Israel, and they cast
dust on the heads of them, 7and Iesous said:
“I petition, Lord, why is it that the
servant of thee made this people go
through the Jordan River to deliver him
to the Amorrite to destroy us? And if
we remained and dwelt along the Jordan
River. 8And what shall I say, since Israel
turned back before the enemies of him?
9And having heard the Cananean and all
the men dwelling the land shall sur-

round us and strike us from the earth;
and what shall the great name of thee
do?”

And the Lord said to Iesous:
“Stand up; why is this that thou

thyself have fallen on the face of thee?
11The people sinned and transgressed
the covenant, which I covenanted to

them, and stealing from the anathema
they cast into the vessels of them. 12The
sons of Israel shall not at all be able to
stand throughout the face of the enemies
of them; they shall turn back before the
enemies of them, because they became
anathema; I will not set forth still to be
with you, if you shall not take out the
anathema out of you yourselves. 13Hav-
ing stood up make the people holy and
say to be holy into the morrow; the Lord
the God of Israel says these things:
‘The anathema is in you,
you shall not be able to stand
against the enemies of you, un-
til you take out the anathema
out of you. 14And all shall be
assembled early according to
tribes, and it shall be the tribe,
whichever the Lord shall show,
lead forth according to publics;
and the public, whichever the
Lord shall show, you shall lead
forth according to house; and
the house, whichever the Lord
shall show, you shall lead forth
according to man; 15and who-
ever was shown, he shall be
burned in fire and all, whatso-

ever is to him, because he trans-
gressed the covenant of the Lord
and did lawlessness in Israel.’”
16And
Iesous rose early and he led forth the
people according to tribes, and the tribe of Ioudas was
shown; 17and it was led forth according to publics, and
the public of Zarai was shown; and it was led forth ac-
cording to man, 18and Achar son of Zambri son of Zara
was shown. 19And Iesous said to Achar:
“Give glory today to the Lord God
of Israel and give the confession and an-
nounce to me what thou did, and thou
shall not hide from me.”
20
And Achar answered to Iesous and said:
“Truly I sinned before the Lord God
of Israel; I did thus and thus; 21I saw in
the spoil a good multi-colored mantle
and two hundred didrachma of silver
and one golden wedge of fifty
didrachma and having desired I took
them, and behold them having been hid-
den in the ground in the tent of me, and
the silver having been hidden under
them.”
22
And Iesous sent angels, and they ran into the tent into
the camp; and these were having been hidden into the
tent, and the silver under them. 23And they brought them
out of the tent and they brought to Iesous and the
presbyters of Israel, and they placed them before the Lord.
24
And Iesous took Achar son of Zara and led him up into
the valley of Achor and the sons of him and the daughters
of him and the calves of him and the donkeys of him and
all the sheep of him and the tent of him and all the things
being of him, and all the people with him; and he led them
up into Emekachor. 25And Iesous said to Achar:
“Why did thou destroy us? The
Lord shall destroy thee as also today.”
And all Israel stoned him with stones. 26And they fell to
him a great heap of stones. And the Lord rested the fury
of the wrath. On account of this he named it “Emekachor”
until this day.
CHAPTER EIGHT
“Thou shall fear not nor shall thou
be coward; take with thee all the men
the warriors and having gone up go up
into Gai; behold I have given into the
hands of thee the king of Gai and the
land of him. 2And thou shall do Gai
which manner thou did Jericho and the
king of it, and thou shall take the spoil
of the cattle to thyself. And set to thy-
self an ambush for the city into the
things behind.”

And Iesous stood up and all the people the warrior so as
to go up into Gai. And Iesous chose thirty thousand men
able in strength and he sent them at night. 4And he
commanded to them saying:
“You yourselves ambush behind the

city; you shall not be far from the city
and all shall be ready. 5And I and all
the men with me shall lead forth to the
city, and it shall be as the men who
dwell Gai shall come out into a meeting
to us just as also before, we shall also
flee from the face of them. 6And as they
shall come out behind us, we shall draw
them from the city; and they shall say:
‘These flee from the face of
us which manner also in front.’
7”And you yourselves shall stand
up out of the ambush and you shall go
into the city. 8You shall do according to
this word; behold I command to you.”
9And Iesous sent them, and they went into the
ambush and they sat between Baithel and between Gai

from the sea of Gai. 10And having rose early Iesous
spied the people; and they went up he and the presby-
ters throughout the face of the people on Gai. 11And all
the people the warrior with him went up and going they
came out of opposite the city from east, 12and the am-
bush of the city was from the sea. 13(omitted)
14And it happened as the king of Gai saw, he
hurried and came out into a meeting to them on straight
into the war, he and all the people with him, and he
himself has known not that there is an ambush to him
behind the city. 15And Iesous and Israel saw and with-
drew from the face of them. 16And they pursued down
behind the sons of Israel and they themselves stood
away from the city; 17not no one in Gai was left behind,
who pursued down not behind Israel; and they left the
city being opened and they pursued down behind Israel.
“Stretch out the hand of thee in the

spear in the hand of thee on the city -
for I have delivered it into the hands of
thee -, and the ambush shall stand up
out in haste out of the place of them.”
And Iesous stretched out the hand of him, the
spear, on the city, 19and the ambush stood up out in
haste out of the place of them and they came out, when
he stretched out the hand, and they came on the city and
seized it and having hurried they burned the city in fire.
20And the dwellers of Gai looked around into the things
behind them and they were seeing smoke going up out

of the city into the heaven; and they had no longer
where they shall flee here or here. 21And Iesous and all
Israel saw that the ambush took the city and that the
smoke of the city went up into the heaven, and turning
they struck the men of Gai. 22And these came out of the
city into a meeting and they were between the camp,
these from there and these from there; and they struck
until not one of them to be left having been saved and
having fled.
23And they took the king of Gai living and they
led him to Iesous. 24And as the sons of Israel stopped

killing all the men in Gai in the fields and in the moun-
tain on the descent, where they pursued them down
from it into the end, Iesous also returned into Gai and
he struck it in mouth of sword. 25And the men falling
in that day from man until woman were twelve thou-

sand, all the men dwelling Gai, 26(omitted) 27except the
cattle and the spoils in the city, all things which the sons
of Israel took as spoils according to the ordinance of the
Lord, which manner the Lord ordered to Iesous.
28And Iesous burned the city in fire; he set it a
mound uninhabited into the age until this day. 29And
he hanged the king of Gai on gallows wood, and he was
on the wood until evening; and of the setting of the sun
Iesous ordered and they lowered the body of him from
the wood and they threw him into the pit and they set
to him a heap of stones until this day. 30Then Iesous
built an altar to the Lord the God of Israel in the moun-
tain of Gaibal, 31as Mouses the servant of the Lord com-
manded to the sons of Israel, as having been written in
the Law of Mouses, an altar of whole stones, on which
iron was not cast on, and he brought up there burnt of-
ferings to the Lord and sacrifice of salvation.
32 And Iesous wrote on the stones the
deuteronomy, law of Mouses, which he wrote before the
sons of Israel. 33And all Israel and the presbyters of
them and the judges and the scribes of them were go-
ing from within and within before the ark, and the
priests and the Levites took the ark of the covenant of
the Lord, and the proselyte and the native, who were
half near Mount Garizin, and who were half near Mount
Gaibal, as Mouses the servant of the Lord commanded
to eulogize the people in firsts. 34And after these Iesous
thus read all the words of this law, the eulogies and the
curses, according to all the things having been written
in the law of Mouses; 35there was not a word from all,
which Mouses commanded to Iesous, which Iesous read
not into the ears of the whole ekklesia of the sons of

Israel, to the men and to the women and to the servants
and to the proselytes going to Israel.
CHAPTER NINE
1And as the kings the Amorrites in the other side
of the Jordan River heard, the men in the hill country and
the men in the field and the men in all the seaside of
the great sea and the men towards the Antilibanos, and
the Chettites and the Cananeans and the Pherezites and
the Hevites and the Amorrites and the Gergesites and
the Jebusites, 2all came together on it to fight out Iesous
and Israel. Then Iesous built an altar to the Lord the God
of Israel, as having been written in the law of Mouses,
an altar of whole stones, on which iron was not cast, and
he brought up there burnt offerings to the Lord and sac-
rifice of salvation.
3And the men who dwell Gabaon heard all,
whatsoever the Lord did to Jericho and to Gai. 4And
they themselves also did indeed with craftiness and
having come they took provisions and prepared and
having taken old sackcloths on the donkeys of them and
old wineskin of wine and having been bound up hav-
ing ripped, 5and the clouts of the sandals of them and
the sandals of them old and having been worn out in
the feet of them, and the garments of them having be-
come old upon them, and the bread of them of the dry
provision and mouldy and having rotten. 6And they
came to Iesous into the camp of Israel into Galgal and
they said to Iesous and Israel:
“We have come out of a land from

afar, and now you shall covenant to us
a covenant.”

And the sons of Israel said to the Chorrite:
“See thou dwell not in me, and
how shall I covenant to thee a cov-
enant?”
8
And they said to Iesous:
“We are helpers of thee.”
And Iesous said to them:
“From where are you and you ar-
rived from where?”
9
And they said:
“The servants of thee have come
out of a land from afar exceedingly in
the name of the Lord the God of thee; for
we have heard the name of Him and
whatsoever He did in Egypt. 10And
whatsoever He did to the kings of the
Amorrites, who were on the other side of
the Jordan River, to Seon king of Esebon
and to Og king of Basan, who dwells in
Astaroth and in Edrain. 11And having
heard the presbyters of us and all the
men dwelling the land of us said to us
saying:
‘Take for yourselves provi-

sion into the way and you shall
go into a meeting of them and
you shall say to them: “We are
helpers of thee, and now you
shall covenant to us a cov-
enant.”’
12 ”These are the bread, we took
them hot in the day, which we came out
to arrive to you, and now they are dried
and having become rotten; 13and these
are the wineskins of the wine, which we
shall fill new, and these are ripped; and
the garments of us and the sandals of us
having been made old from the exceed-
ingly long way.”
14
And the rulers took the provision of them and they asked
not the Lord. 15And Iesous did to them peace and he was
covenanting to them a covenant to keep them safe, and
the rulers of the synagogue swore to them.
16And it happened after three days after the
thing to covenant to them a covenant they heard that

they are from near them, and that they dwell in them.
17And the sons of Israel took up and came into the cit-
ies of them; and the cities of them are Gabaon and

Kephira and Beroth and the city of Iarin. 18And the sons
of Israel fought them not, because all the rulers swore
to them the Lord the God of Israel; and the whole syna-
gogue murmured against the rulers. 19And the rulers
said to the whole synagogue:
“We ourselves swore to them the

Lord the God of Israel and now we are
not able to touch them; 20we shall do
this, to make them live, and we shall
possess them, and wrath shall not be
throughout us on account of the oath,
which we swore to them; 21they shall
live and they shall be woodworkers and
water carriers for the whole synagogue,
just as the rulers said to them.”
22
And Iesous called them together and said to them:
“On account of what you deceived
me, saying: ‘We are exceedingly far
from thee?’ And you yourselves are
countrymen of the men dwelling in us;
23and now you are cursed, it shall not at
all fail out of you a slave nor wood-

worker to me and to the God of me.”
24
And they answered to Iesous saying:
“Announce to us whatsoever the
Lord the God of thee ordered to Mouses
the servant of Him, to give to you this
land and to destroy us and all the men
dwelling on it from the face of you, and
we feared exceedingly concerning the
psyche of us from the face of you and
we did this matter. 25And now behold
we ourselves are underhand to you; as
it pleases you and as it seems to you, do
to us.”
26
And they did to them thus; and Iesous commanded them
in that day out of the hands of the sons of Israel, and they
killed them not. 27And Iesous appointed them in that day
woodworkers and water carriers for the whole synagogue
and for the altar of God; on account of this the men
dwelling Gabaon became woodworkers and water carriers
of the altar of God until the day today and into the place,
whichever the Lord chooses.
CHAPTER TEN
1And as Adonibezek king of Jerusalem heard
that Iesous took Gai and destroyed it - which manner
they did to Jericho and to the king of it, thus they did to
Gai and to the king of it - and that the men dwelling
Gabaon joined to Iesous and to Israel, 2and they feared
in them exceedingly; for he knows that Gabaon is a great
city as it is one of the metropolis and all the men of it
are strong. 3And Adonibezek king of Jerusalem sent to
Ailam king of Chebron and to Phidon king of Ierimouth
and to Iephtha king of Lachis and to Dabir king of
Odollam saying:
4”Come here come up to me and
help me, and we shall fight out Gabaon;
for they joined to Iesous and to the sons
of Israel.”

And the five kings of the Jebusites went up, the king of
Jerusalem and the king of Chebron and the king of
Ierimouth and the king of Lachis and the king of Odollam,
these and all the people of them, and they surrounded
Gabaon and they were fighting it out. 6And the men
dwelling Gabaon sent to Iesous into the camp of Israel
into Galgal saying:
“Thou shall not exhaust the hands

of thee from the servants of thee; come
up to us quickly and succor us and help
us; because all the kings of the
Amorrites dwelling the hill country are
gathered together against us.”

And Iesous went up out of Galgal, he and all the people
the warrior with him, all able in strength. 8And the Lord
said to Iesous:
“Fear them not; for I have delivered
them into the hands of thee, not one
shall be left behind out of them before
you.”
9And Iesous arrived on them suddenly, he went
into out of Galgal the whole night. 10And the Lord stood
out to them from the face of the sons of Israel, and the
Lord struck them with a great strike in Gabaon, and they
pursued them down the way of the ascent of Oronin and
smashed them until Azeka and until Makeda. 11And in
the time for them to flee from the face of the sons of Is-
rael on the descent of Oronin also the Lord threw to them
stones of hail out of heaven until Azeka, and the men
who died on account of the stones of the hail were more
than whom the sons of Israel killed with sword in the
war. 12Then Iesous spoke to the Lord, on which day God
delivered the Amorrite underhand of Israel, when He
struck them in Gabaon and they were destroyed from
the face of the sons of Israel, and Iesous said:
“Let the sun stand throughout
Gabaon and the moon throughout the
valley of Ailon.”
13And
the sun stood and the moon in standstill,
until God avenged the enemies of them. And the sun
stood throughout the middle of the heaven, it was not
going into the west into the end of one day. 14And such
a day happened not nor the former nor the last so as for
God to hear man, because the Lord fought with Israel.
15(omitted) 16And these five kings fled and they hid into
the cave in Makeda. 17And it was reported to Iesous

saying:
“The five kings were found having
hidden in the cave in Makeda.”
18
And Iesous said:
“Roll stones on the mouth of the
cave and appoint men to guard on them,
19and you yourselves stand not pursuing
down behind the enemies of you and

take the rear of them and you shall not
let to enter into the cities of them; for the
Lord the God of us delivered them into
the hands of us.”
20And
it happened as Iesous rested and every
son of Israel smashing them exceedingly with a great
smash until into the end and the men being kept safe
were kept safe into the strong cities, 21and all the people
returned to Iesous into Makeda sound, and not one of
the sons of Israel murmured with the tongue of him.
22And Iesous said:
“Open the cave and lead out these

five kings out of the cave.”
23
And they led out the five kings out of the cave, the king
of Jerusalem and the king of Chebron and the king of
Ierimouth and the king of Lachis and the king of Odollam.
24
And since they led them out to Iesous, also Iesous called
together all Israel and the rulers of the war going with
him saying to them:
“Go before and set the feet of you
on the necks of them.”
And having approached they set the feet of them on the
necks of them. 25And Iesous said to them:
“Fear them not nor shall you be
coward; be manly and strong, because
the Lord will do thus to all the enemies
of you, whom you yourselves fight
against them.”
26And Iesous killed them and he hanged them
on five woods, and they were hanging on the woods
until evening. 27And it happened towards the setting of
the sun Iesous commanded and they lowered them from
the woods and they threw them into the cave, into which
they fled down there, and they rolled stones on the cave
until the day today. 28And they took Makeda in that day
and murdered it in the mouth of sword and they de-
stroyed every breathing thing in it, and it remained not
in it no one having been saved and having fled; and they
did to the king of Makeda which manner they did to the
king of Jericho. 29And Iesous went away and all Israel
with him out of Makeda into Lebna and fought Lebna.
30And the Lord delivered it into the hands of Israel, and
they took it and the king of it and they murdered it in

the mouth of sword and every breathing thing in it, and
not not even one was left having been saved and hav-
ing fled; and they did to the king of it which manner
they did to the king of Jericho. 31And Iesous went away
and all Israel with him out of Lebna into Lachis and
sieged it and fought it. 32And the Lord delivered Lachis
into the hands of Israel, and took it in the second day
and they murdered it in the mouth of sword and they
destroyed it, which manner they did to Lebna.
33Then Ailam the king of Gazer went up help-
ing Lachis, and Iesous struck him in the mouth of sword
and the people of him until them not to be left having
been saved and having fled. 34And Iesous went away
and all Israel with him out of Lachis into Odollam and
they sieged it and fought it. 35And the Lord delivered
it in the hand of Israel, and took it in that day and mur-
dered it in the mouth of sword, and they murdered ev-
ery thing breathing in it, which manner they did to
Lachis. 36And Iesous went away and all Israel with him
into Chebron and they sieged it. 37And he struck it in
the mouth of sword and everything breathing, whatso-
ever was in it, there was not having been saved; which
manner they did to Odollam, they destroyed it and what-
soever was in it.
38And Iesous returned and all Israel into Dabir
and they sieged it. 39They took it and the king of it and
all the villages of it and they struck it in the mouth of
sword and they destroyed it and everything breathing
in it and they left it not not even one having been saved;
which manner they did to Chebron and to the king of
it, thus they did to Dabir and to the king of it.
40And Iesous struck all the land of the hill coun-

try and Nageb and the plain and Asedoth and the kings
of it, they left not any of them having been saved; and
he destroyed every thing breathing of life, which man-
ner the Lord the God of Israel commanded. 41From
Kades Barne until Gaza, all Gosom until Gabaon, 42and
Iesous struck into once all the kings of them and the land
of them, because the Lord the God of Israel fights with
Israel. 43(omitted)
CHAPTER ELEVEN
1And as Iabin the king of Asor heard, he sent to
Iobab the king of Marron and to the King of Sumoon and
to the king of Aziph 2and to the kings throughout Sidon
the great, into the hill country and into Rhaba opposite
Keneroth and into the field and into Napheddor 3and
into the seashores of the Cananeans from east and into
the seashores of the Amorrites and Hevites and Jebusites
and Pherezites in the mountain and the Chettites under
Aermon into the land of Massepha. 4And they them-
selves came and the kings of them with them just as the
sand of the sea with the multitude and horses and ex-
ceedingly many chariots. 5And all these kings came
together and arrived on the same and they encamped on
the water of Marron to fight Israel. 6And the Lord said
to Iesous:
“Fear not from the face of them,
because this hour tomorrow I Myself
am delivering them slain before Israel;
thou shall hamstring the horses of them
and thou shall burn the chariots of them
in fire.”
7And Iesous went and all the people the warrior

against them on the water of Marron suddenly and they
fell on them in the hill country. 8And the Lord deliv-
ered them underhand of Israel, and smashing them they
pursued down until Sidon the great and until Maseron
and until the fields of Massoch throughout the east and
they smashed them until not any of them to be left hav-
ing been saved. 9And Iesous did to them which man-
ner the Lord commanded to him; he hamstrung the
horses of them and he burned the chariots of them in
fire.
10And Iesous returned in that time and he took
Asor and the king of it; and Asor was the former ruler
of all of these kings. 11And they killed every breathing
thing in it in sword and they destroyed all, and not any
was left in it breathing; and they burned Asor in fire.
12And Iesous took all the cities of the kings and the kings
of them and he killed them in the mouth of sword, and

they destroyed them, which manner Mouses the servant
of the Lord ordered.
13But Israel burned not all the cities having been
established, however Iesous burned Asor alone. 14And
the sons of Israel plundered for themselves all the spoils
of it, and they destroyed them all in mouth of sword,
until he destroyed them, not any was left out of them
nor one breathing. 15Which manner the Lord ordered to
Mouses the servant of him, and Mouses similarly com-
manded to Iesous, and Iesous did thus, nothing not one
was transgressed from all, which Mouses ordered to him.
16And Iesous took all the land the hill country and all
Nageb and all the land of Gosom and the plain and the
land towards the west and the mountain of Israel and the
low lands, 17the things towards the mountain from the

mountain of Achel and which goes up into Seir and until
Baalgad and the fields of Libanos under the mountain
Aermon and he took all the kings of them and he de-
stroyed them and killed.
18And Iesous did war against these kings more
days, 19and there was not a city, which Israel took not,
they took all in war. 20Because it happened to strengthen
the heart of them through the Lord to meet into war
against Israel, in order that they shall be destroyed, in
order that mercy was not given to them, but in order that
they shall be destroyed, which manner the Lord said to
Mouses. 21And Iesous came in that time and he de-
stroyed the Enakims out of the hill country, out of
Chebron and out of Dabir and out of Anaboth and out
of all the generations of Israel and out of all mountains
of Ioudas with the wars of them, and Iesous destroyed
them. 22And not one of the Enakims was left from the
sons of Israel, but except in Gaza and in Geth and in
Asedoth there was left. 23And Iesous took all the land,
as the Lord commanded to Mouses, and Iesous gave to
them in inheritance of Israel in partition according to the
tribes of them. And the land stopped fighting.
CHAPTER TWELVE
1And these are the kings of the land, whom the
sons of Israel killed and they inherited the land of them
on the other side of the Jordan River from the rising of
the sun from the valley of Arnon until the mountain of
Aermon and all the land of Araba from east: 2Seon the
king of the Amorrites, who dwells in Esebon lording
from Aroer, which is in the valley, throughout the part
of the valley and the half of Galaad until Jabok, borders

of the sons of Ammon, 3and Araba until the sea of
Chenereth throughout east and until the sea of Araba,
sea of the salts from east, way throughout Asimoth, from
Thaimon under Asedoth Phasga; 4and Og the king of
Basan was left out of the giants dwelling in Astaroth and
in Edrain 5ruling from the mountain of Aermon and from
Selcha and the whole Basan until the borders of Gesouri
and Machati and the half of Galaad, borders of Seon the
king of Esebon.
6Mouses the servant of the Lord and the sons of
Israel struck them, and Mouses gave it in inheritance to
Rhouben and Gad and to the half of the tribe of
Manasses.
7And these are the kings of the Amorrites, whom
Iesous and the sons of Israel killed in the other side of
the Jordan River along the sea of Baalgad in the field of
Libanos and until the mountain of Chelcha going up into
Seir, and Iesous gave it to the tribes of Israel to inherit
according to the inheritance of them, 8in the mountain
and in the field and in Araba and in Asedoth and in the
wilderness and in Nageb, the Chetite and the Amorrite
and the Cananean and the Pherezite and the Hevite and
the Jebusite; 9the king of Jericho and the king of Gai,
which is near Baithel, 10 king of Jerusalem, king of
Chebron, 11king of Ierimouth, king of Lachis, 12king of
Ailam, king of Gazer, 13king of Dabir, king of Gader,
14king of Ermath, king of Arath, 15king of Lebna, king
of Odollam, 16king of Makeda, 17king of Taphoug, king

of Opher, 18king of Aphek of Saron, 19king of Asor, 20king
of Sumoun, king of Marron, king of Aziph, 21king of
Kades, king of Tanach, 22 king of Magedon, king of
Iekonam of Chermel, 23king of Dor of Napheddor, king

of Goim of Galilee, 24king of Tharsa; all these kings are
twenty-nine.
CHAPTER THIRTEEEN
1AndIesous was a presbyter having advanced in
the days. And the Lord said to Iesous:
“Thou thyself have advanced in the
days, and the land left into inheritance
is much. 2And this is the land having
been left: borders of the Philistines, the
Gesirite and the Cananean; 3from the
wilderness throughout the face of Egypt
until the borders of Akkaron out of the
left of the Cananeans reckoned to the
five principalities of the Philistines, to
the inhabitant of Gaza and to the inhab-
itant of Azotia and to the Askalonite and
to the inhabitant of Geth and to the
Akkaronite; and to the Hevite 4out of
Thaiman and all the land Canaan before
Gaza, and the Sidonians until Aphek
until the borders of the Amorrites, 5and
the whole land Gabli of the Philistines
and the whole Libanos from the rising of
the sun from Galgal under the mountain
of Aermon until the entrance of Emath.
6”Everyman dwelling the hill coun-
try from Libanos until
Maserephothmain, all the Sidonians, I
Myself will destroy them from the face
of Israel; but distribute it in inheritance

to Israel, which manner I commanded to
thee. 7And now divide this land in in-
heritance to the nine tribes and to the
half of the tribe of Manasses: thou shall
give it from the Jordan River until the
great sea throughout the setting of the
sun, the great sea shall be the bound-
ary.”
8And to the two tribes and to the half of the tribe
of Manasses, to Rhouben and to Gad, Mouses gave in
the other side of the Jordan River throughout the rising
of the sun; Mouses the servant of the Lord has given it
9from Aroer, which is on the lip of the brook of Arnon,
and the city in the middle of the valley and the whole
Misor from Maidaba until Daiban, 10all the cities of Seon
the king of the Amorrites, who reigned in Esebon, until
the borders of the sons of Am 11and Galaad and the bor-
ders of Gesiri and Machati, the whole mountain of
Aermon and the whole Basan until Selcha, 12the whole
kingdom of Og in Basan, who reigned in Astaroth and
in Edrain; this was left from the giants, and Mouses
struck him and destroyed. 13And the sons of Israel de-
stroyed not the Gesirite and the Machatite and the
Cananean, and the king the Gesirite and the Machatite
dwells in the sons of Israel until the day today.
14However the tribe of Leui was not given inher-
itance; the Lord the God of Israel, this is the inheritance
of them, as the Lord said to them. And this is the dis-
tribution, which Mouses distributed to the sons of Israel
in Araboth Moab in the other side of the Jordan River
throughout Jericho.
15And Mouses gave to the tribe of Rhouben ac-

cording to the publics of them. 16And the borders of
them were from Aroer, which is throughout the face of
the valley of Arnon, and the city in the valley of Arnon
and the whole Misor 17until Esebon and all the cities
being in Misor and Daibon and Bamothbaal and the
house of Beelmon 18 and Iassa and Kedemoth and
Mephaat 19and Kariathaim and Sebama and Serada and
Sior in the mountain of Emak 20and Baithphogor and
Asedoth Phasga and Baithasimoth 21and all the cities of
Misor and the whole kingdom of Seon the king of the
Amorrites, whom Mouses struck him and the governors
of Madiam and Eui and Rhokom and Sour and Our and
Rhobe rulers along Seon and the men dwelling the land.
22And they killed Balaam the son of Beor the soothsayer
in the battle.
23And the borders of Rhouben were: Jordan
River was the boundary. This is the inheritance of the sons
of Rhouben according to the publics of them, the cities
of them and the dwellings of them.
24And Mouses gave to the sons of Gad accord-
ing to the publics of them. 25And the borders of them
were Iazer, all the cities of Galaad and the half of the
land of the sons of Ammon until Aroer, which is
throughout the face of Rhabba, 26and from Esebon until
Rhamoth throughout Massepha and Botanin and
Maanain until the borders of Dabir 27 and in Emek
Baitharam and Baithanabra and Sokchotha and Saphan
and the rest of the kingdom of Seon the king of Esebon,
and the Jordan River is the border until part of the sea
of Chenereth on the other side of the Jordan River from
east. 28This is the inheritance of the sons of Gad accord-
ing to the publics of them, the cities of them and the

dwellings of them.
29And Mouses gave to the half of the tribe of
Manasses according to the publics of them. 30And the
borders of them were from Maanaim and the whole king-
dom of Basan and the whole kingdom of Og the king of
Basan and all the villages of Iair, which are in Basan,
sixty cities, 31and the half of Galaad and in Astaroth and
in Edrain, cities of the kingdom of Og in Basan, and they
were given to the sons of Machir son of Manasses and
to the half of the sons of Machir son of Manasses accord-
ing to the publics of them.
32These were whom Mouses gave inheritance on
the other side of the Jordan River in Araboth Moab in the
other side of the Jordan River throughout Jericho from
east. 33(omitted).
CHAPTER FOURTEEN
1And these are the men of the sons of Israel in-
heriting in the land Canaan, to whom Eleazar the priest
and Iesous the son of Naue and the rulers of the fami-
lies of the tribes of the sons of Israel gave to them to
inherit. 2They inherited according to the lots, which
manner the Lord commanded in the hand of Iesous to
the nine tribes and to the half of the tribe, 3from the other
side of the Jordan River, and to the Levites he gave not
a lot in them; 4because the sons of Ioseph were two
tribes, Manasses and Ephraim, and a part was not given
in the land to the Levites, but rather cities to dwell and
the suburbs of them for the livestock and the cattle of
them. 5Which manner the Lord commanded to Mouses,
thus the sons of Israel did and they divided the land.
6And the sons of Ioudas approached to Iesous

in Galgal, and Chaleb the son of Iephonni the Kenezite
said to him:
“Thou thyself understand the word,
which the Lord spoke to Mouses the man
of God concerning me and thee in Kades
Barne; 7for I was forty years, when
Mouses the servant of God sent me out
of Kades Barne to spy the land, and I
answered to him a word according to
the mind of him, 8and the brothers of me
going up with me discouraged the heart
of the people, and I myself was set to
follow the Lord the God of me, 9and
Mouses swore in that day saying:
‘The land, on which thou
went, shall be to thee in inherit-
ance and to the children of thee
into the age, because thou art set
to follow behind the Lord the
God of us.’
“10And now the Lord nourished me,
which manner He said, this forty and
fifth year from which the Lord spoke this
word to Mouses and Israel went in the
wilderness and now behold I am eighty
and five years today; 11I am still strong
as when Mouses sent me, similarly
strong now to go out and to enter into
the war. 12And now I request thee this
mountain, as the Lord said on that day;
because thou thyself heard the word on

that day. And now the Enakims are
there, strong and great cities; if therefore
the Lord be with me, I will destroy them,
which manner the Lord said to me.”
13 And Iesous eulogized him and he gave
Chebron to Chaleb son of Iephonne son of Kenez in in-
heritance. 14On account of this Chebron became to
Chaleb the son of Iephonne the Kenezite in inheritance
until this day on account of him to follow the ordinance
of the Lord the God of Israel. 15And the name of Chebron
was formerly the city of Arbok; this is a metropolis of
the Enakims. And the land stopped the war.
CHAPTER FIFTEEN
1And the borders of the tribe of Ioudas accord-
ing to the publics of them were from the borders of
Idoumia from the wilderness of Sin until Kades towards
south. 2And the borders of them were from south until
part of the salt sea from the bay extending on south 3and
goes through before the ascent of Akrabin and goes
around out of Senna and goes up from south on Kades
Barne and goes out of Asoron and goes forth up into
Addara and goes around throughout west of Kades 4and
goes on Asemon and goes through until the valley of
Egypt, and the exit of the borders of it shall be on the
sea; this is the borders of them from south.
5And the borders from east: the whole salt sea
until the Jordan River. And the borders of them from
north and from the bay of the sea and from the part of
the Jordan River: 6the borders goes on Baithagla and
goes along from north on Baitharaba, and the borders

goes forth on the stone of Baion son of Rhouben, 7and
the borders goes forth on the fourth of the valley of
Achor and goes down on Galgal, which is before the
approach of Addamin, which is throughout south on the
valley, and casts through on the water of the spring of
the sun, and the exit of it shall be the spring of Rhogel,
8and the borders goes up into the valley of Onom on
back of Iebous from south (this is Jerusalem), and the

borders cast through on the top of the mountain, which
is throughout the face of the valley of Onom towards the
sea, which is out of the part of the land of Rhaphain on
north, 9and the border casts through from the top of the
mountain on the spring of the water Naphtho and casts
through into the mountain of Ephron, and the border
leads out into Baal (this is a city of Iarim), 10and a bor-
der shall go around from Baal on the sea and it shall go
along into the mountain Assares on back, city of Iarim
from north (this is Chaslon) and it shall go down on the
City of Sun and it shall go along on south, 11and the
border shall cast throughout the back of Akkaron on
north, and the borders goes through into Sakcharon and
it shall go along the mountain of Bala and casts through
on Iabnel, and the exit of the borders shall be on the sea.
12And the borders of them from the sea: the
great sea shall be the border. These are the borders of
the sons of Ioudas around according to the publics of
them.
13And he gave to Chaleb son of Iephonne a part
in the middle of the sons of Ioudas on account of the
ordinance of God, and Iesous gave to him the city of
Arbok a metropolis of Enak (this is Chebron). 14And
from there Chaleb son of Iephonne destroyed the three

sons of Enak, Sousi and Thalmi and Achim. 15And
Chaleb went up from there on the men dwelling Dabir;
and the name of Dabir was formerly City of Letters.
16And Chaleb said:
“Whoever takes and destroys the

City of Letters and lords it, I will give
to him Achsan the daughter of me into
a woman.”

And Gothoniel son of Kenez brother of Chaleb the
younger took her, and he gave to him Achsan the daughter
of him to him as a woman. 18And it happened in the time
for her to go and she counselled to him saying:
“I will request the father of me a
field.”
And she shouted out of the donkey. And Chaleb said to
her:
“What is it to thee?”

And she said to him:
“Give to me a eulogy, because thou
have given me into the land Nageb; give
to me Golathmain.”
And Chaleb gave to her Golathmain above and
Golathmain below.
20This
is the inheritance of the tribe of the sons
of Ioudas. 21And the cities of them were: First city of
the tribe of the sons of Ioudas on borders of Edom on
the wilderness of Kaibaiseleel and Ara and Asor 22and
Ikam and Rhegma and Arouel 23 and Kades and

Asorionain 24and Mainam and Balmainan and the vil-
lages of them 25and the cities of Aseron (this is Asor)
26 and Sen and Salmaa and Molada 27 and Seri and
Baiphalad 28and Cholaseola and Bersabee and the vil-

lages of them and the dwellings of them, 29Bala and
Bakok and Asom 30and Elboudad and Baithel and Erma
31and Sekelak and Macharim and Sethennak 32and Labos
and Sale and Eromoth, twenty-nine cities and the vil-

lages of them.
33In the field: Astaol and Rhaa and Assa 34and
Rhamen and Tano and Glouthoth and Maiani 35and
Iermouth and Odollam and Membra and Saocho and
Azeka 36and Sakarim and Gadera and the dwellings of
it, fourteen cities and the villages of them; 37Senna and
Adasan and Magadagad 38and Dalal and Maspha and
Iakareel 39and Laches and Basedoth and Ideadalea 40and
Chabra and Maches and Maachos 41and Geddor and
Bagadiel and Noman and Makedan, sixteen cities and
the villages of them; 42Lemna and Ithak 43and Anoch and
Iana and Nasib 44and Keilam and Akiezi and Kezib and
Bathesar and Ailon, ten cities and the villages of them;
45Akkaron and the villages of it and the dwellings of
them; 46from Akkaron Gemna and all, whatsoever are

near Asedoth, and the villages of them; 47Asiedoth and
the villages of it and the dwellings of it; Gaza and the
villages of it and the dwellings of it until the brook of
Egypt; and the great sea is the border.
48Andin the hill country: Samir and Iether and
Socha 49and Rhenna and City of Letters (this is Dabir)
50and Anon and Eskaiman and Aisam 51and Gosom and
Chalou and Channa, eleven cities and the villages of
them; 52Airem and Rhemna and Soma 53and Iemain and

Baithachou and Phakoua 54and Euma and city of Arbok
(this is Chebron) and Sorth, nine cities and the dwell-
ings of them; 55Maor and Chermel and Ozib and Itan
56and Iariel and Iarikam and Zakanaim 57and Gabaa and
Thamnatha, nine cities and the villages of them; 58Aloua

and Baithsour and Geddon 59 and Magaroth and
Baithanam and Thekoum, six cities and the villages of
them; Theko and Ephratha (this is Baithleem) and
Phagor and Aitan and Koulon and Tatam and Eobes and
Karem and Galem and Thether and Manocho, eleven
cities and the villages of them; 60Kariathbaal (this is the
city of Iarim) and Sotheba, two cities and the dwellings
of them; 61and Baddargis and Tharabaam and Ainon and
Aichioza 62and Naphlazon and the cities of Sadom and
Ankades, seven cities and the villages of them.
63And the Jebusite dwells in Jerusalem, and the
sons of Ioudas were not able to destroy them; and the
Jebusites dwelt in Jerusalem until that day.
CHAPTER SIXTEEN
1And the borders of the sons of Ioseph were from
the Jordan River throughout Jericho from east and shall
go up from Jericho into the hill country the wilderness
into Baithel Louza 2and shall go out into Baithel and
shall go along on the borders of Chataroth 3and shall go
through on the sea on the borders of Aptalim until the
borders of Baithoron below, and the exit of them shall
be on the sea.
4And the sons of Ioseph, Ephraim and Manasses
inherited; 5and the borders of the sons of Ephraim were
according to the publics of them; and the borders of the

inheritance of them was from east Ataroth and Erok until
Baithoron above and Gazara, 6and the borders shall go
through on the sea into Ikasmon from north Therma,
shall go around on east into Thenasa and Sellesa and
shall go along from east into Ianoka 7and into Macho
and Ataroth and the villages of them and shall go on
Jericho and shall cast through on the Jordan River, 8and
from Tapho the borders shall go on the sea on Chelkana,
and the exit of them shall be on the sea; this is the in-
heritance of the tribe of Ephraim according to the pub-
lics of them.
9And the cities which are separate for the sons
of Ephraim were between the inheritance of the sons of
Manasses, all the cities and the villages of them. 10And
Ephraim destroyed not the Cananean dwelling in Gazer,
and the Cananean dwells in Ephraim until this day, until
Pharaoh the king of Egypt went up and took it and
burned it in fire, and they destroyed the Cananeans and
the Pherezites and the men dwelling in Gazer, and Pha-
raoh gave it in dowry to the daughter of him.
CHAPTER SEVENTEEN
1And the borders of the tribe of the sons of
Manasses were, because this is the firstborn to Ioseph;
Machir firstborn to Manasses father of Galaad (for he
was a man a warrior) in Galaad and in Basan. 2And it
became to the sons of Manasses to the rest according to
the publics of them, to the sons of Iezer and to the sons
of Kelez and to the sons of Ieziel and to the sons of
Suchem and to the sons of Sumarmi and to the sons of
Opher; these are the males according to the publics of
them.
3And to Salpaad son of Opher, there were not

to him sons but rather daughters, and these are the
names of the daughters of Salpaad: Maala and Noua
and Egla and Melcha and Thersa 4and they stood before
Eleazar the priest and before Iesous and before the rul-
ers saying:
“God commanded through the
hand of Mouses to give to us inheritance
in the middle of the brothers of us.”
And an inheritance in the brothers of the father of them
was given to them through the ordinance of the Lord. 5And
the lot of them fell from Anassa and the field of Labek out
of Galaad, which is on the other side of the Jordan River;

because daughters of the sons of Manasses inherited an
inheritance in the middle of the brothers of them; and the
land Galaad was for the remaining sons of Manasses.
7And Delanath became the borders of the sons of
Manasses, which is throughout the face of the sons of

Anath, and goes on the borders on Iamin and Iassib on
the spring Thaphthoth; 8it shall be to Manasses, and
Thapheth on the borders of Manasses to the sons of
Ephraim. 9And the borders shall go down on the valley
of Karana on south throughout the valley of Iariel, a
turpentine (oak) tree to Ephraim between the city of
Manasses; and the borders of Manasses on the north into
the brook, and the exit of it shall be the sea. 10From
south to Ephraim, and on north to Manasses, and the sea
shall be the borders to them; and on Aser they shall join
on north and to Issachar from east. 11And it shall be to
Manasses in Issachar and in Aser Baithsan and the vil-
lages of them and the men dwelling Dor and the villages
of it and the men dwelling Mageddo and the villages of

it and the third of Napheta and the villages of it.
12Andthe sons of Manasses were not able to
destroy these cities, and the Cananean was coming to
dwell in this land; 13and it happened also since the sons
of Israel were strong, and they did the Cananeans sub-
jects, and to destroy they destroyed them not. 14And the
sons of Ioseph answered to Iesous saying:
“On account of what thou made us
inherit one inheritance and one lot?
And I myself am many people, and God
eulogized me.”

And Iesous said to them:
“If thou art many people, go up
into the forest and clean out for thyself,
if the mountain of Ephraim restricts
thee”
16
And they said:
“The mountain of Ephraim is not
sufficient for us, and a chosen horse and
iron to the Cananean dwelling in it in
Baithsan and in the villages of it, in the
valley of Iezrael.”
17
And Iesous said to the sons of Ioseph:
“If thou art many people thou have
also great strength, and one lot shall not
be to thee; 18for the forest shall be to
thee, because there is a forest and thou
shall clean it out and it shall be to thee;

also when thou destroy the Cananean,
because chosen horse is to him, for thou
thyself art stronger than him.
CHAPTER EIGHTEEN
1And the whole synagogue of the sons of Israel
was assembled into Selo and there they pegged the Tent
of the Witness, and the land was seized by them. 2And
the sons of Israel remained, who were not given inher-
itance, seven tribes. 3And Iesous said to the sons of Is-
rael:
“Until when shall you be exhausted
to inherit the land, which the Lord the
God of us gave? 4Give out of you three
men out of a tribe, and going up let
them go through the land and let them
write it before me, as he petitions to di-
vide it. (And they came to him, 5and he
divided to them seven parts.) Ioudas
shall stand to them border from south,
and the sons of Ioseph shall stand to
them from north. 6And you yourselves
divide the land seven parts and bring to
me here, and I will bring out to you an
inheritance before the Lord the God of
us. 7For there is not a part for the sons
of Leui in you, for priesthood of the Lord
is the part of him; and Gad and Rhouben
and the half of the tribe of Manasses
took the inheritance of them on the other
side of the Jordan River on east, which

Mouses the servant of the Lord gave to
them.”

And going up the men went, and Iesous commanded to
the men going to explore the land saying:
“Go and explore the land and ar-
rive to me, and I will bring out to you
here an inheritance before the Lord in
Selo.”
9And they went and they explored the land and
they saw it and they wrote it according to the cities of it

seven parts into a book and they brought to Iesous.
10And Iesous cast in to them a lot in Selo before the Lord.
11And the lot of the tribe of Beniamin went out first ac-
cording to the publics of them, and the borders of the

lot of them went out between Ioudas and between the
sons of Ioseph. 12And the borders of them was from
north from the Jordan River, the borders shall go up forth
throughout back of Jericho from north and shall go up
on the mountain on the sea, and the exit of it shall be
Madbari Baithon, 13and from there the borders shall go
through Louza on back of Louza from south (this is
Baithel), and the borders shall go down Maatarothorech
on the hill country, which is towards south of Baithoron
below, 14and the borders shall go through and go around
on the part looking along the sea from south from the
mountain on face of Baithoron south, and the exit of it
shall be into Kariathbaal (this is Kariathiarin a city of the
sons of Ioudas); this is the part towards the sea.
15 And the part towards south from part of

Kariathbaal, and the borders shall go through into Gasin
on the spring of water of Naphtho, 16and the borders
shall go down on a part of the mountain, which is
throughout the face of the valley of Onnam, which is out
of a part of Emekraphain from north, and shall go down
Gaienna on back of Iebous from south and shall go
down on the spring of Rhogel 17and shall go through on
the spring of Baithsamus and shall go along on Galiloth,
which is opposite to the ascent of Aithomin, and shall
go down on the stone of Baion of sons of Rhouben 18and
shall go through throughout back of Baitharaba from
north and shall go down 19on the borders on back of
Baithagla from north, and the exit of the borders shall
be on the bay of the salt sea on north into part of the
Jordan River from south; these are the borders from
south.
20And the Jordan River is the border from part
of east. This is the inheritance of the sons of Beniamin,
the borders of it around according to publics. 21And the
cities of the sons of Beniamin according to the publics
of them were Jericho and Baitheglio and Amekasis 22and
Baithabara and Sara and Besana 23and Aun and Thara
and Ephratha 24and Karapha and Kephira and Moni and
Gabaa, twelve cities and the villages of them; 25Gabaon
and Rhama and Beerotha 26and Massema and Miron and
Amoke 27and Phira and Kaphan and Nakan and Selekan
and Thareela 28and Iebous (this is Jerusalem) and cities
and Gabaothiarim, thirteen cities and the villages of
them. This is the inheritance of the sons of Beniamin
according to the publics of them.
CHAPTER NINETEEN
1And the second lot came out of the sons of
Sumeon, and the inheritance of them was between the

lots of the sons of Ioudas. 2And the lot of them were
Bersabee and Samaa and Koladam 3and Arsola and Bola
and Asom 4and Elthoula and Boula and Erma 5and
Sikelak and Baithmachereb and Sarsousin 6and Batharoth
and the fields of them, thirteen cities and the villages of
them; 7Eremmon and Thalcha and Ether and Asan, four-
teen cities and the villages of them 8around the cities of
them until Barek going Bameth throughout south. This
is the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Sumeon ac-
cording to the publics of them.
9 Theinheritance of the tribe of the sons of
Sumeon is from the lot of Ioudas, because the part of the
sons of Ioudas was greater than the inheritance of them;
and the sons of Sumeon inherited in the middle of the
lot of them.
10And the third lot went out to Zaboulon accord-
ing to the publics of them. The borders of the inherit-
ance of them shall be Esedek 11Gola; the borders of them
shall be the sea and Maragella and shall join on
Baitharaba into the valley, which is throughout the face
of Iekman, 12and returned from Seddouk out of the op-
posite from east of Baithsamus on the borders of
Chaselothaith and shall go through on Dabiroth and
shall go up forth on Phaggai 13and from there it shall
go around out of opposite on east on Gebere on the city
of Katasem and shall go through on Rhemmona
Amathar Aoza 14and the borders shall go around on
north on Amoth, and the exit of them shall be on
Gaiphael 15and Katanath and Nabaal and Sumoon and

Jericho and Baithman. 16This is the inheritance of the
tribe of the sons of Zaboulon according to the publics of
them, these cities and the villages of them.
17And the fourth lot went out to Issachar. 18And
the borders of them were Iazel and Chasaloth and
Sounan 19 and Agin and Siona and Rheeroth and
Anachereth 20and Dabiron and Kison and Rhebes 21and
Rhemmas and Ieon and Tomman and Aimarek and
Bersaphes, 22and the borders join on Gaithbor and on
Salim throughout the sea and Bathsamus, and the exit
of the borders of it shall be the Jordan River. 23This is
the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Issachar accord-
ing to the publics of them, the cities and the villages of
them.
24And the fifth lot went out to Aser. 25And the
borders of them were out of Eleketh and Aleph and
Baithok and Keaph 26and Elimelek and Amiel and Maasa
and shall join to Karmelo throughout the sea and to Sion
and Labanath 27and shall return from the rising of the sun
and Baithegeneth and shall join to Zaboulon and out of
Gai and Phthaiel throughout north, and the borders shall
enter Saphthaibaithme and Inael and shall go through
into Chobamasomel 28 and Elbon and Rhaab and
Ememaon and Kanthan until Sidon the great, 29and the
borders shall return up into Rhama and until the spring
of Masphassat and of the Tyrians, and the borders shall
return up on Iasiph, and the exit of it shall be the sea
and from Leb and Echozob 30and Archob and Aphek and
Rhaau. 31This is the inheritance of the tribe of the sons
of Aser according to the publics of them, the cities and
the villages of them.
32And the sixth lot went out to Nephthali. 33And

the borders of them were Moolam and Mola and
Besemiin and Arme and Nabok and Iephthamai until
Dodam, and the exits of it were the Jordan River; 34and
the borders shall return on the sea Enath Thabor and
from there it shall go through Iakana and shall join to
Zaboulon from back and Aser shall join throughout the
sea, and the Jordan River from the rising of the sun.
35 And the walled cities of the Tyrians of Tyre and
Omatha, Daketh and Kenereth 36and Armaith and Arael

and Asor 37and Kades and Assari and the spring of Asor
38and Keroe and Megala, Arim and Baiththame and
Thessamus. 39This is the inheritance of the tribe of the

sons of Nephthali.
40And the seventh lot went out to Dan. 41And
the borders of them were Sarath and Asa, cities of
Sammaus 42and Salabin and Ammon and Silatha 43and
Ailon and Thamnatha and Akkaron 44and Alkatha and
Begethon and Gebeelan 45and Azor and Banaibakat and
Gethremmon, 46and from the sea Ierakon a border near
Ioppa. 47This is the inheritance of the tribe of the sons
of Dan according to the publics of them, the cities of
them and the villages of them. And the sons of Dan
troubled not out the Amorrite troubling them in the
mountain; and the Amorrites allowed them not to go
down into the valley and they troubled from them the
border of the part of them.
48And the sons of Ioudas went and fought Lachis
and seized it and struck it in mouth of sword and dwelt
it and called the name of it Lasendak. And the Amorrite
remained to dwell in Elom and in Salamin; and the hand
of Ephraim was made heavy on them, and they became
to them into tribute. 49And they went to possess the

land throughout the border of them, and the sons of
Israel gave a lot to Iesous the son of Naue in them
50through the ordinance of God; and they gave to him
the city, which he requested, Thamnasarach, which is in

the mountain of Ephraim; and he built the city and
dwells in it. 51These are the inheritance, which Eleazar
the priest inherited and Iesous the son of Naue and the
rulers of the families in the tribes of Israel according to
the lots in Selo before the Lord along the doors of the
Tent of the Witness; and they went to possess the land.
CHAPTER TWENTY
1And the Lord spoke to Iesous saying:
2“Speak to the sons of Israel saying:
‘Give the cities of the ref-
uge, which I said to you
through Mouses, 3a refuge to the
killer striking a psyche unwit-
tingly, and the cities shall be to
you a refuge, and the killer shall
not die by the one redeeming
the blood, until which he stood
before the synagogue into judg-
ment.’”

in Galilee in the mountain to Nephthali and Suchem in
the mountain to Ephraim and the city of Arbok (this is
Chebron) in the mountain to Ioudas. 8And in the other

in the field from the tribe of Rhouben and Aremoth in
Galaad out of the tribe of Gad and Gaulon in Basan out of

the tribe of Manasses. 9These are the chosen cities for the
sons of Israel and for the proselyte abiding in them to
flee there for anyone who strike a psyche unwittingly, in
order that he shall not die in the hand of the one redeeming
the blood, until he stood before the synagogue into
judgment.
CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE
1And the rulers of the families of the sons of
Leui approached to Eleazar the priest and to Iesous the
son of Naue and to the tribal rulers of the families out
of the tribes of Israel 2and they said to them in Selo in
the land Canaan saying:
“The Lord commanded in the hand
of Mouses to give to us cities to dwell
and the suburbs for the cattle of us.”
3And the sons of Israel gave to the Levites in the
time to inherit through the ordinance of the Lord the cit-
ies and the suburbs of them. 4And the lot went out to
the public of Kaath, and it was for the sons of Aaron the
priests the Levites from the tribe of Ioudas and from the
tribe of Sumeon and from the tribe of Beniamin by lot
thirteen cities 5and for the remaining sons of Kaath out
of the tribe of Ephraim and out of the tribe of Dan and
from the half of the tribe of Manasses by lot ten cities;
6and for the sons of Gedson from the tribe of Issachar
and from the tribe of Aser and from the tribe of

Nephthali and from the half of the tribe of Manasses in
Basan thirteen cities; 7and for the sons of Merari accord-
ing to the publics of them from the tribe of Rhouben and
from the tribe of Gad and from the tribe of Zaboulon by

lot twelve cities. 8And the sons of Israel gave to the
Levites the cities and the suburbs of them, which man-
ner the Lord commanded to Mouses, by lot.
9And the tribe of the sons of Ioudas and the tribe
of the sons of Sumeon and from the tribe of the sons of
Beniamin gave the cities, and they were named 10for the
sons of Aaron from the public of Kaath of the sons of
Leui, because the lot became for these. 11And he gave
to them Kariatharbok a metropolis of Enak (this is
Chebron) in the mountain of Ioudas; and the suburbs
around it 12and Iesous gave the fields of the city and the
villages of it to the sons of Chaleb son of Iephonne in
possession; 13and for the sons of Aaron the city Chebron
refuge for the killer and the suburbs with it and Lemna
and the suburbs to it 14and Ailom and the suburbs to it
and Tema and the suburbs to it 15and Gella and the sub-
urbs to it and Dabir and the suburbs to it 16and Asa and
the suburbs to it and Tanu and the suburbs to it and
Bathsamus and the suburbs to it, nine cities from these
two tribes. 17And from the tribe of Beniamin Gabaon
and the suburbs to it and Gatheth and the suburbs to it
18and Anathoth and the suburbs to it and Gamala and

20And to the publics of the sons of Kaath the

of the borders of them was from the tribe of Ephraim,
21and they gave to them the city of the refuge of the
killer Suchem and the suburbs to it and Gazara and the

things to it and the suburbs to it 22and Kabsaim and the
suburbs the things to it and above Baithoron and the

suburbs to it, four cities.
23And out of the tribe of Dan Elkothaim and the
suburbs to it and Gethedan and the suburbs to it 24and
Ailon and the suburbs to it and Getheremmon and the
suburbs to it, four cities. 25And from the half of the tribe
of Manasses Tanach and the suburbs to it and Iebatha
and the suburbs to it, two cities. 26All cities are ten and
the suburbs to them to the publics of the sons of Kaath
the remaining. 27And to the sons of Gedson the Levites
out of the half of the tribe of Manasses the cities the
suburbs for the killers, Gaulon in Basan and the suburbs
to it and Bosor and the suburbs to it, two cities 28and
out of the tribe of Issachar Kison and the suburbs to it
and Lebba and the suburbs to it 29and Rhemmath and
the suburbs to it and the Spring of Letters and the sub-
urbs to it, four cities.
30And out of the tribe of Aser Basellan and the
suburbs to it and Dabbon and the suburbs to it 31and
Chelkat and the suburbs to it and Rhaab and the sub-
urbs to it, four cities. 32And out of the tribe of Nephthali
the city the suburb for the killer Kades in Galilee and
the suburbs to it and Emmath and the suburbs to it and
Themmon and the suburbs to it, three cities. 33All the
cities of Gedson according to the publics of them are
thirteen cities.
34And to the public of the sons of Merari the
Levites the rest out of the tribe of the sons of Zaboulon

Maan and the suburbs of it and Kades and the suburbs
of it 35and Demna and the suburbs of it and Sella and
the suburbs of it, four cities. 36And the other side of the
Jordan River throughout Jericho out of the tribe of

Rhouben the city of refuge of the killer Bosor in the
wilderness Mesor and the suburbs of it and Iazer and
the suburbs of it 37and Dekmon and the suburbs of it
and Mapha and the suburbs of it, four cities. 38And from
the tribe of Gad the city of refuge of the killer Rhamoth
in Galaad and the suburbs of it and Kamin and the sub-
urbs of it 39and Esebon and the suburbs of it and Iazer
and the suburbs of it; all the cities are four. 40All these
cities were for the sons of Merari according to the pub-
lics of them the remaining from the tribe of Leui; and
the borders were twelve cities. 41All the cities of the
Levites in the middle of the possession of the sons of Is-
rael were forty-eight cities and the suburbs of them
42around these cities, a city and the suburbs around the
city to all these cities.

And Iesous completed dividing the land in the
borders of them. And the sons of Israel gave a part to
Iesous according to the ordinance of the Lord; they gave
to him the city, which he requested; they gave to him
Thamnasarach in the mountain of Ephraim. And Iesous
built the city and dwelt in it. And Iesous took the
swords made of stone, in which he circumcised the sons
of Israel born in the way in the wilderness, and he
placed them in Thamnasarach.
43And the Lord gave to Israel all the land, which
He swore to the fathers of them to give, and they inher-
ited it and they dwelt in it. 44And the Lord rested them
from around, as He swore to the fathers of them; no one
stood up not before them from all of the enemies of
them; the Lord delivered all the enemies of them into the
hands of them. 43He fell not from all of the good words,
which the Lord spoke to the sons of Israel; all arrived.
CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO
1Then Iesous called the sons of Rhouben and the
sons of Gad and the half of the tribe of Manasses 2and
he said to them:
“You yourselves have heard all,
whatsoever Mouses the servant of the
Lord commanded to you, and you heard
the voice of me according to all, what-
soever I commanded to you. 3You have
left not the brothers of you these days
and more until the day today; you
guarded the commandment of the Lord
the God of you. 4And now the Lord the
God of us rested the brothers of us,
which manner He said to them; now
therefore returning you go away into the
houses of you and into the land of the
possession of you, which Mouses gave
to you in the other side of the Jordan
River. 5But you shall guard to do ex-
ceedingly the commandments and the
law, which Mouses the servant of the
Lord commanded to us to do, love the
Lord the God of you, to go to all the
ways of Him, to guard the command-
ments of Him and to cleave to Him and
to religiously serve to Him out of the
whole mind of you and out of the whole
psyche of you.”

And Iesous eulogized them and sent them out, and they
went into the houses of them.
7And to the half of the tribe of Manasses Mouses
gave in Basan, and to the half Iesous gave with the
brothers of him in the other side of the Jordan River
along the sea. And when Iesous sent them out into the
houses of them and he eulogized them, 8and in many
riches they went away into the houses of them, and ex-
ceedingly many cattle and silver and gold and iron and
many garments, and they divided the spoils of the en-
emies with the brothers of them.
9And the sons of Rhouben went and the sons of
Gad and the half of the tribe of the sons of Manasses
from the sons of Israel out of Selo in the land Canaan to
go away into the land Galaad into the land of the pos-
session of them, which they inherited it through the or-
dinance of the Lord in the hand of Mouses.
10And they came into Galgal of Jordan, which is
in the land Canaan, and the sons of Gad and the sons
of Rhouben and the half of the tribe of Manasses built
there an altar on Jordan, a great altar to see. 11And the
sons of Israel heard saying:
“Behold the sons of Gad and the
sons of Rhouben and the half of the tribe
of Manasses built an altar on the borders
of the land Canaan on Galaad of Jordan
in the other side of the sons of Israel.”
12And all the sons of Israel gathered together
into Selo as going up to fight them. 13And the sons of
Israel sent to the sons of Rhouben and to the sons of Gad
and to the half of the tribe of Manasses into the land

Lord says these things:
‘What is this guilt, which
you are guilty before the God of
Israel, to turn away today from
the Lord building to you for
yourselves an altar to make you
apostate from the Lord? 17Not
the sin of Phogor small to us?
Because we cleanse not from it
until this day, and plague was
in the synagogue of the Lord.
18And you yourselves shall turn
away from the Lord today? And

it shall be if you shall stand
away today from the Lord, also
tomorrow the wrath shall be on
all Israel. 19And now if the land
of the possession of you is small
to you, go through into the land
of the possession of the Lord,
where the tent of the Lord is
pegged there, and you shall in-
herit in us; and you shall not be-
come apostates from God and

you shall not stand away from
the Lord on account of you to
build an altar outside of the al-
tar of the Lord the God of us.
20Behold is not Achar the son of
Zara became guilty of a guilt

from the anathema and wrath
was on the whole synagogue of
Israel? And this one was alone;
this died not alone for the sin of
himself?’”
21
And the sons of Rhouben and the sons of Gad and the
half of the tribe of Manasses answered and spoke to the
chiliarchs of Israel saying:
22“The God God is the Lord, and
the God God Lord He Himself knew,
and Israel himself shall know, if in apos-
tasy we shall be guilty before the Lord,
He shall not rescue us in this; 23and if
we shall build for them an altar so as to
stand away from the Lord the God of us
so as to bring up on it sacrifice of burnt
offerings or so as to do on it sacrifice of
salvation, the Lord shall seek out. 24But
because we did this reverence of word
saying:
‘In order that tomorrow the
children of you shall not say to
the children of us “What is to
you the Lord the God of Israel?
25And the Lord placed the Jor-

dan River borders between us
and you, and there is not to you
a part of the Lord.”
“And the sons of you shall alienate
the sons of us, in order that they shall
not worship the Lord. 26And we say to
do thus to build this altar not because of
fire offerings nor because of sacrifices,
27but in order that this be a witness be-
tween us and you and between the gen-

erations of us with us to religiously
serve a religious service to the Lord be-
fore Him in the fire offerings of us and
in the sacrifices of us and in the sacri-
fices of the salvation of us; and the chil-
dren of you shall not say to the children
of us tomorrow ‘There is not to you a
part of the Lord.’
28”And we say ‘If when it comes
and they shall speak to us and to the
generations of us tomorrow, and say
“See the likeness of the altar of the Lord,
which the fathers of us did not because
of fire offerings nor because of sacrifices,
but it is a witness between you and be-
tween us and between the sons of us.
29Therefore may it be not for us to turn
away from the Lord in the day today to

stand away from the Lord as for us to
build an altar for the fire offerings and
for the sacrifices and for the sacrifice of

salvation except the altar of the Lord,
which is before the Tent of Him.”
30
And Phinees the priest and all the rulers of the
synagogue of Israel, who were with him, heard the words,
which the sons of Rhouben and the sons of Gad and the
half of the tribe of Manasses spoke, and it pleased them.
31
And Phinees the priest said to the sons of Rhouben and
to the sons of Gad and to the half of the tribe of Manasses:
“Today we know that the Lord is
with us, wherefore you are not guilty
with a guilt before the Lord and that you
rescued the sons of Israel out of the hand
of the Lord.”
32
And Phinees the priest and the rulers returned from the
sons of Rhouben and from the sons of Gad and from the
half of the tribe of Manasses out of the land Galaad into
the land Canaan to the sons of Israel and they answered
to them the words, 33and it pleased the sons of Israel. And
they spoke to the sons of Israel, and they eulogized the
God of the sons of Israel and they said to them no longer
to go up into war to destroy the land of the sons of
Rhouben and of the sons of Gad and of the half of the
tribe of Manasses. And they dwelt on it. 34And Iesous
named the altar of Rhouben and of Gad and of the half of
the tribe of Manasses and he said that:
“It is a witness between them be-
cause the Lord is the God of them.”
CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE
1And it happened with more days after the Lord
to rest Israel from all of the enemies of them from

around, and Iesous a presbyter advanced in the days,
2and Iesous called all the sons of Israel and the senate
of them and the rulers of them and the scribes of them

and the judges of them and he said to them:
“I myself have become old and ad-
vanced in the days. 3And you your-
selves see whatsoever the Lord the God
of you did to all these nations from the
face of you, because the Lord the God of
you fought out for you. 4You see that I
gave to you these remaining nations to
you in the lots into the tribes of you; all
the nations from the Jordan, which I
destroyed, and it borders from the great
sea on the setting of the sun. 5And the
Lord the God of you, this shall destroy
them from the face of you, until they
would perish, and He shall send to them
the wild beasts, until they destroy them
and the kings of them from the face of
you, and you shall inherit the land of
them, as the Lord the God of you spoke
to you. 6Therefore be exceedingly strong
to guard and to do all the things hav-
ing been written in the Book of the Law
of Mouses, in order that you shall not
incline into the right or left, 7in order
that you shall not enter into these re-
maining nations, and the names of the

gods of them shall not be named in you,
nor you shall not bow to them nor you
shall not religiously serve them, 8but you
shall be joined to the Lord the God of
you, just as you did until this day.
9 ”And the Lord destroyed them
from the face of you, great and strong
nations, and to you not even one stood
up before you until this day; 10one of
you pursued a thousand, because the
Lord the God of you fought out for you,
just as He said to you. 11And guard ex-
ceedingly to love the Lord the God of
you. 12For if you shall turn away and
you shall join to these remaining nations
with you and you shall do marriage to
them and you shall mix with them and
they to you, 13know that the Lord shall
not at all set forth to destroy these na-
tions from the face of you, and they shall
be to you into traps and into skandals
and into nails in the heels of you and
into casts in the eyes of you, until which
you shall perish from this good land,
which the Lord the God of you has given
to you.
14”And I myself shall run the way
as also all the men on the earth, and you
know in the heart of you and in the
psyche of you that not one word from
all of the words fell, which the Lord the
God of you said, to all the things to you,

it fell not out of them. 15And it shall be
which manner shall come on you all the
good words, which the Lord spoke to
you, thus the Lord God shall make to
come on you all the evil words, until
which He shall destroy you from this
good land, which the Lord gave to you,
16in the time for you to transgress the
covenant of the Lord the God of you,

which He commanded to you, and hav-
ing gone you shall religiously serve dif-
ferent gods and bow to them.”
CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR
1And Iesous assembled all the tribes of Israel into
Selo and called the presbyters of them and the scribes
of them and the judges of them and he made them to
stand before God. 2And Iesous said to all the people:
“The Lord the God of Israel says
these things:
‘On the other side of the
river the fathers of you dwelt
from the beginning, Thara the
father of Abraham and the fa-
ther of Nachor, and they reli-
giously served different gods.
3And I took the father of you
Abraham out of the other side

of the river and I guided him in
all the land and multiplied the
seed of him and I gave to him

Isaak, 4and to Isaak Iakob and
Esau; and I gave to Esau the
mountain of Seir to inherit it,
and Iakob and the sons of him
went down into Egypt and be-
came there into a great nation
and big and mighty.’
5”And the Egyptians did them evil,
and the Lord struck the Egyptian in
which He did to them, and He led you
out after these 6out of Egypt, and you
entered into the Red Sea. And the Egyp-
tians pursued down behind the fathers
of you in chariots and in horses into the
Red Sea, 7and we shouted to the Lord,
and He gave cloud and blackness be-
tween us and between the Egyptians
and He led on them the sea, and cov-
ered them, and the eyes of you saw
whatsoever the Lord did in the land
Egypt. And we were in the wilderness
more days.
8”And He led you into the land of
the Amorrites dwelling on the other side
of the Jordan River, and they fought you,
and the Lord delivered them into the
hands of you, and you inherited the land
of them and destroyed them from the
face of you.
9”And Balak the son of Sepphor

king of Moab stood up and fought Israel
and having sent he called Balaam to
curse you; 10and the Lord the God of
thee willed not to destroy thee, and he
eulogized you a eulogy, and rescued
you out of the hands of them and deliv-
ered them. 11And you went through the
Jordan River and arrived into Jericho;
and the men dwelling Jericho fought
against you, the Amorrite and the
Cananean and the Pherezite and the
Hevite and the Jebusite and the Chettite
and the Gergesite, and the Lord deliv-
ered them into the hands of you.
12”And He sent out the hornet be-
fore you, and He cast them out from the
face of you, twelve kings of the
Amorrites, not in the sword of thee nor
in the bow of thee. 13And He gave to
you the land, on which you labored not
on it, and cities, which you built not,
and you dwell in them; and vineyards
and oliveyards, which you planted not,
you yourselves eat.
14”And now fear the Lord and reli-
giously serve to Him in uprightness, and
in righteousness and you shall remove
the foreign gods, which the fathers of
you religiously served in the other side
of the river and in Egypt, and religiously
serve the Lord. 15And if it pleases to you
not to religiously serve the Lord, choose

for you by yourselves today, to whom
you shall religiously serve, either the
gods of the fathers of you in the other
side of the river, or the gods of the
Amorrites, in which you yourselves
dwell on the land of them; and I and the
house of me shall serve the Lord, be-
cause He is holy.”
16
And the people having answered said:
“May it be not to us to leave the
Lord so as to religiously serve different
gods. 17The Lord is the God of us, He
Himself is God; He Himself led us up
and the fathers of us out of Egypt and
He guarded us in all the way, which we
went in it, and in all the nations, which
we passed through them; 18and the Lord
cast out the Amorrite and all the nations
dwelling the land from the face of us.
But also we ourselves shall serve the
Lord; for this is the God of us.”
19
“You are not at all able to reli-
giously serve the Lord, because God is
holy, and being jealous this will not for-
give the sins of you and the lawlessness
of you; 20if when you shall leave the
Lord and you shall religiously serve dif-
ferent gods, and having come He shall
do you evil and He will consume you

for which He did you well.”
21
And the people said to Iesous:
“Not, but we will religiously serve
the Lord.”
22
“You yourselves are witnesses
against you, because you yourselves
chose the Lord to religiously serve to
Him; 23 and now remove the foreign
gods in you and you straighten the heart
of you towards the Lord the God of Is-
rael.”
24
And the people said to Iesous:
“We will religiously serve the Lord
and we will hear the voice of Him.”
25And
Iesous set the covenant to the people in
that day and gave to him the law and judgment in Selo
before the Tent of the God of Israel. 26And he wrote
these words into a book, the law of God; and Iesous took
a great stone and set it under the oak before the Lord.
27And Iesous said to the people:
“Behold this stone shall be in you

into a witness, because this has heard
all the things having been spoken to it
by the Lord, which He spoke a certain
thing to us today; and this shall be in
you into a witness on the last of the

days, whenever you lie to the Lord the
God of me.”

And Iesous sent the people, and each went into the place
of him.
29And it happened thereafter and Iesous son of
Naue a slave of the Lord died hundred ten years. 30And
they buried him towards the mountains of the inherit-
ance of him in Thamnathasachar in the mountain
Ephraim from north of the mountain Gaas; 31and Israel
religiously served to the Lord all the days of Iesous and
all the days of the presbyters, whosoever lived the sea-
son with Iesous and whosoever knew all the works of
the Lord, whatsoever He did to Israel. They placed there
with him into the tomb, into which they buried him
there, the swords made of stone, in which he circumcised
the sons of Israel in Galgal, when He led them out of
Egypt, as the Lord ordered to them, and they are there
until the day today.
32And the sons of Israel led up the bones of
Ioseph out of Egypt and they buried in Sikim in the part

of the field, where Iakob bought from the Amorrites
dwelling in Sikim hundred lambs and he gave it to
Ioseph in part.
33And it happened after these and Eleazar son
of Aaron the high priest died and Phinees the son of him
buried him in Gabaath, which he gave to him in the
mountain Ephraim. In that day the sons of Israel hav-
ing taken the ark of God carried in themselves, and
Phinees served as priest instead of Eleazar the father of
him, until he died and was buried in Gabaath the thing

of himself. And the sons of Israel went away each into
the place of them and into the city of themselves.
And the sons of Israel worshipped Astarte and
Astaroth and the gods of the nations around them; and
the Lord delivered them into the hands of Eglom the king
of Moab, and he lorded over them eighteen years.
