A Catechists Prayer
Lord God, you are the source of all love, truth, and goodness. You are the source of my being true path for my journey. Grant to me the courage to live according to your Word. Instill in me, through the gift of your Holy Spirit, the desire and the wisdom to share your love, your truth, your goodness with my students. Help me to use my time to better prepare myself for this sacred responsibility. For I so need to offer myself in your service with all of the patience, perseverance, and love that you have first shown to me. I ask no more than this, Lord, in the name of your Son, and my Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

A STEWARDSHIP MOMENT
Twenty-Second Sunday in Ordinary Time
Doing Gods will demands making personal sacrifices as Christian stewards. We hear this in each of todays readings. All of us are to be willing to undergo suffering for the sake of Gods Kingdom. In fact, each day stewards can consciously find sacrifices we make an offering to God, showing that we are willing to give our all for him.
Each year the Knights of Columbus hold the Tootsie Roll Drive to raise funds for the Developmentally Challenged. This year the Knights will be soliciting for donations after all masses the weekend of Sept.10th and 11th-Tootsie Rolls and Tootsie Roll banks will be available outside the church doors. The Knights will be on street corners and store fronts in our area the weekend of Sept.16th and 17th. Please help us raise funds for Registered Charitable Organizations in our area. We thank you in advance for your support. Anyone wishing to volunteer on the weekends please contact Ed Schumann at (630)627-8213. Nonknights and ladies are most welcome to help.

A number of parishioners have asked me over these years, since our parish center was built, if I am going to put a crucifix in our parish life center. I saw this one at Wheaton Religious Gifts and Church Supply in Wheaton. It is only an idea. Do we need it? Would it be nice? The children may love to see the cross there. If you would like to give towards the crucifix, pray about it and let us know. Thank you to our donors thus far and thank you for the many other ways individuals and families give from their hearts. The church bells and the crucifix are so important to our faith and our celebration . Fr. Peter Jarosz

Year of the Eucharist 2010-2011 Reflection from Participant of Roman Missal Workshop
We all accept change in different ways. Some of us embrace it. Some of us fear it. Others are uncomfortable with it. Nevertheless, we all face changes every day but seldom have the opportunity to understand why changes are being made. This is not the case as we anticipate the changes in the Mass with the new Roman Missal beginning in November. We are fortunate to have many opportunities to learn why the changes are being made. Here at Christ the King, as in many other parishes, trained clergy, staff and parish volunteers are offering workshops in the coming weeks to explain the changes in the Mass. The homilies will begin to include explanations of the changes in the wording of the liturgy. Soon we will begin singing the new lyrics to familiar hymns such as the Gloria and Holy, Holy, Holy. With these changes will come a new awakening of what we say at Mass and the prayers said by the priest. We will all pay more attention to the Mass and feel closer to God as we concentrate more fully on what we are saying and the new prayers we will hear the priests say. These changes will bring us closer to scripture and the actual translation from Latin. Above all, the structure of the Mass will not change so we can still enjoy the familiarity that the Mass brings to each of us. As with all change, in a matter of time it will soon become comfortable to us and we will hardly remember how it used to be. We are so fortunate to belong to a parish that is making the adaption to this change so easy for all of us! In the next few weeks, consider attending one of the workshops that are being held. I guess I am one of those who gets excited about change. I look forward to participating in the new liturgy in November and hope you will too! Anna Weselak
