This button is used to register the correction value when the folding stopper is adjusted finely in the fixed folding mode. Up to 36 types (No. of fixed folding modes x paper type) of correction values can be registered. To erase the registration, select the folding mode of the corresponding paper size to be delected and continue pressing this button until the buzzer sounds.

7. OPERATION PROCEDURES
7-1. FIXED FOLDING OF FIXED PAPER
Start the various fixed folding operations for fixed paper as follows.
Insert the power cord in the electrical outlet and turn on the power.
Press I to turn on the power. Press O to turn off the power. The folding stoppers and stacker rollers on the folding plates will move to their initial setting positions when the power is turned on. Wait for a few seconds for this to complete which is indicated by the sound of the buzzer.
Power switch
Raise the paper set lever and place some paper on the paper feed table.
Loosen the fixing screws of the guide, and move the guide slightly more than the width of the paper. Loosen the paper and stack sheets of paper neatly on the paper feed table. Insert the paper until its front part touches the front guide plate lightly.
Guide
Fixing screw
After pressing the guide to the side of the paper lightly, tighten the screws to secure the guide.
The left and right guides move in the same direction.
Guides
Fixing screw
Paper can be stacked to a height of approximately 45 mm at one time. Do not stack too many sheets paper.
7. OPERATION PROCEDURES
Press the fold mode selection button and select the desired fold mode.
When the right folding mode selection button is pressed, the lamp on the right of that currently lit will light up. When the left one is pressed, the lamp on the left of that currently lit will light up.
If special folding had been registered previously, special folding modes 1 and 2 can be selected by pressing these folding mode selection buttons. If no special folding methods have been registered, the special folding mode cannot be selected and instead the fixed folding mode will be set.
20
7. OPERATION PROCEDURES
Open the Top cover and adjust the separator pressure adjusting dial to 0.
If several sheets of paper are fed at one time, raise the separator pressure dial from 0 to 1 or 2. Adjust the separator pressure by gradually increasing the level 0.5 each time. When using art paper or coated paper, refer to Using Art /Coated Paper on page 41.
Close the Top cover and adjust the speed controller as desired.
21
7. OPERATION PROCEDURES
10
The paper will be folded properly if it is folded after it has reached the stopper inside the folding plate.
If the paper flowing into the folding plate is folded without reaching the stopper due to conditions such as environmental conditions (temperature, humidity), paper quantity, its type, paper couch conditions, folding speed, curling etc., it may not be folded properly. In some cases, the paper may also coil around the rubber roll and cause problems.
As such problems can be corrected by decreasing the folding speed, keep decreasing the speed until the paper is folded properly.
22
7. OPERATION PROCEDURES
11
If the sheets of paper have not been folded satisfactorily, refer to the following steps.
Press the folding stopper adjustment button and adjust the folding slippage. Refer to Adjusting the folding slippage in the vertical direction on page 36.
Rotate the slant correction knob and adjust the folding slippage. Refer to Adjusting the folding slippage in the horizontal direction on page 40.
Check the folding slippage in the horizontal direction with the second sheet of test fold sample.
12
Perform test folding again and make sure that there is no slippage.
To register the corrected stopper position, refer to Registering the Folding Stopper Correction on page 38. Even if the paper of one size is used, folding slippage in the vertical direction may occur because of the kind of paper used, the paper thickness, processing speed. It is therefore necessary to adjust the folding stopper slightly. 23
7. OPERATION PROCEDURES
13
14
15
The unit stops automatically when it has reached the number of sheets to be processed.
It also stops automatically if there is not more paper on the paper feed table.
16
24
7. OPERATION PROCEDURES
Press the + side of the FOLDING PLATE 2 button several times (3 to 5 times) and move the folding stopper of folding plate 2.
Press the START/STOP button and start folding operations. Should the paper bend again during folding, press the START/STOP button and stop the machine. When it has stopped completely, press the + side of the FOLDING PLATE 2 button twice and start folding operations again.
After completing the folding operations, turn off the POWER switch.
Note : If thin paper is folded with the folding stopper of folding plate 2 moved to fold thick paper, the thin paper will not be folded properly. Therefore after completing folding operations for thick paper, always turn off the power once.
Perform steps 1 to 3 only for folding a thick paper into two. Paper can be folded into more than two parts (Inner triple-folding, etc.) properly using the normal procedure.

For other precautions, refer to Precautions for Stacking Paper on page 16.
41
If double-feed occurs frequently and cannot be corrected, reduce the amount of paper on the paper feed table until the middle of the guide (approx. 25mm)
As the specific gravity of this type of paper is higher than that of normal paper, they tend to stick together, causing double-feeding to occur frequently. The amount of paper loaded on the table is therefore reduced.

Next, open the top cover and adjust the separator pressure.
Set the separator pressure adjusting dial to 2.5. If the paper sticks and several sheets of paper are fed at one time (double feeding), gradually raise the separator pressure adjusting dial 0.5 at a time until the appropriate separator pressure is obtained. Separator pressure adjusting dial Set the separator pressure within the range of 2.5 to 3.5. The separator pressure may have to be set to 3.5 or above if the paper feed ring or paper separator, etc. is worn out. But try to set the pressure at the lowest level possible.
42
25mm
If the paper is not folded properly, adjust the speed control to a slower speed.
When paper is folded at a high speed, as the front edges of the paper cannot reach the folding stopper due to various conditions such as environmental conditions (temperature, humidity), paper size, thickness of paper, paper couch conditions, and printed surface conditions, etc., the paper is not folded properly.
43
Press the Number of sheets/paper length button and set the paper length input mode.
When the paper length input mode is set, the paper size and Number of sheets/paper length display windows will display as shown in the figure. Take note that when non-fixed paper is used in modes normally used, the paper size automatic detection function operates and the unit will stop.
Next, measure the length of the paper to be used, and input the length on the keypad.
Paper lengths that can be input range from minimum 135mm to maximum 432mm. Use measuring instruments which are in mm. To input 135, press numerical button [1] [3] and then [5]. To input 432mm, press numerical buttons [4],[3], and then [2]. When using paper which are 135mm to 152 mm long, the folding modes-double folding, irregular accordion folding, brochure folding, etc.-cannot be selected as such paper are too big for the folding plate to fold them into these styles. If the paper length has already been registered, press the clear button to erase the value registered first before inputting.
44
Press the keys on the keypad to input the number of sheets to be processed.
From here, carry out the usual procedures. Refer to Operation Procedures on page 19.
Folding stopper corrections can be registered in the paper length folding mode as well. (As well as the six types of fixed folding modes). However, take note that if the paper length is changed, the previous correction value memorized will be erased.
When using fixed paper again, press the Number of sheets/paper length button.
The normal operation mode will be set.
45
Press the Number of sheets/paper length button and set the paper length input mode.
When the paper length input mode is set, the paper size and Number of sheets/paper length display windows will display as shown in the figure. Take note that when non-fixed paper is used in modes normally used, the paper size automatic detection function operates and the unit will stop.
Next, measure the length of the paper to be used, and input the length on the keypad.
Paper lengths that can be input range from minimum 135mm to maximum 432mm. Use measuring instruments which are in mm. If the paper length has already been registered, press the clear button to erase the value registered first before inputting.
