CHAPTER I SYSTEMS BACKGROUND A. COMPANY BACKGROUND Quezon City Polytechnic University Supreme Student Council started at the year of 2009 managed by Mr. Reginald Vallejos, Director of OSA. QCPU has its two university branches the San Francisco campus located at Barangay Sto. Cristo and the Batasan Campus located in front of House of Representatives. The Supreme Student Council is composed of these positions: President, Vice president for each campus, Secretary, Treasurer, Auditor, and eight Governors. Based from our interviews, this year 2011 is the first time of SSC to have two political parties involved in the election. It means, the first SSC election had only one party involved in the year of 2009 and 2010. This years election was held last August 1 in Batasan campus, August 2 in San Francisco campus and August 3 in San Bartolome main campus. The election run from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. The Supreme Student council elections was held at the hallway of each campuses organized by the comelec appointees. Comelec appointees are annually appointed and it depends by SSC head. During the election the students must present their university id or registration card for them to vote. All students are required to vote and also, those who are in the vocational courses. The voter will write their votes to a piece of paper provided by the comelec, after that voting

paper will drop to ballot box where the designated box for each course is assigned. When the election is done the comelec personnels will count the number of votes and then the results will verify by the director of OSA, Mr. Reginald Vallejos. Finally, the election winners will announced after a week.

How to eliminate too much time consumed in tabulating votes How to gain voter turnouts/ student participants How to reduce or remove unwanted human errors

D. SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY Discussion about significance of the study is the part where you tell how your study would be beneficial to specific people or parts of the society and how they could use it. It defines also to answer this question, what is a thesis is defined in this
case as a dissertation on a particular subject in which original research has been done, particularly one to be discussed and proved or maintained against opposing views. The significance of your study is whatever you have deemed it to be. You decide the significance of your study and the better you can articulate this, the stronger your thesis will be.
