I. INTRODUCTION
A. NAME AND GENERAL LOCATION
Taytay Falls, located at Barangay Gagalot, Majayjay, Laguna,
has one of the clearest flowing water we have yet seen. The
water flows from Mt. Banahaw, through the mountain's lush
and untouched forest which keeps the water clear even during
heavy rains. The water temperature is VERY cold even during
summer but, for people who are not used to cold water, they
can still take a swim for a few minutes before their teeth should
start to chatter.
One must hike about 15 minutes through a small path to
reach the falls. No way around this. And the hike is not for the
not-so-sure-footed either! The path is slippery at some sections
and is just a couple of feet from the almost-vertical side of the
mountain.
From Manila, take the South Luzon Tollway all the way from
Nichols entry to the south end. At the end of the tollway, take
the exit that points to Lucena and simply drive along this main
road until you reach the Sto. Tomas. Sto. Tomas has two
junctions, and one of which (the second) does not have any road
sign when we passed by. Anyway, on both juctions, you have to
take the road to the left (westward) toward Lucena. This will
take you to San Pablo, Laguna At San Pablo, head into town
(westward) and try to get to the road that goes to Liliw, Laguna
on the west side of San Pablo. You may have to ask locals at
San Pablo for directions.

Once you are out of San Pablo, simply follow the road up to
Rizal and then to Nagcarlan. Just before reaching the town
proper of Nagcarlan, you may want to ask for directions to find
the junction that leads to Liliw. Head for the town of Liliw then
to Majayjay.
B. INSTITUTIONAL PHILOSOPHY
In view of this research, this destination that is
featured is regulated by the local government unit, and some
private sectors who wish to help the development of the site.
The local government unit has not yet established their
specific vision – mission statements. But, although their
vision – mission statement is not yet established, they have
set their goals for developing the “Imelda Falls.” One of
which is to cater to more tourists who come especially
during holidays and peak seasons.

C. MANAGEMENT
This falls is managed by the local government unit,
with funding from the World Bank and the Local
Development Authority.

D. ORGANIZATIONAL CHART
E. FINANCE
World Bank loan (45%) 10,280,112.67
World Bank grant (40%) 9,137,877.93
LLDA Grant (7.5%) 1,713,351.11
LGU Equity (7.5%) 1, 713,351.11

II. SITE DESCRIPTION

A. GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION
Majayjay falls is located in barangay Taytay, in the
municipality of Majayjay in the province of Laguna. Nestled in
the eastern slopes of the majestic mount Banahaw, it is more
than 500 meters above the sea level. the village is located within
the mount Banahaw – San Cristobal protected landscape.
B. SIZE
it has a total land area 143 hectares with a total population
of about 400 individuals. The village is approximately 120
kilometers from manila and around 50 kilometers from los
baños.
C. BOUNDARIES
D. TOPOGRAPHY AND CLIMATE
The major occupation in the municipality is farming. crops
grown includes all sorts of vegetables (string beans, bell pepper,
radish, tomato, bitter gourd), rice, and various kinds of fruit
trees. The place is quite ideal for agricultural production, with
its fertile volcanic soil and type 2 climate which has no dry
season with a very pronounced maximum rainfall from
November to January.

III. SITE EVALUATION

A. VISIBILITY

B. ACCESSIBILITY
From Manila, you actually have 2 routes to choose from.
The first route is via the South Luzon Tollway, and the other
route via the other side of Laguna de Bay through Rizal
province (known to some people as the backdoor route). We
could say that the two routes are almost the same in distance
from the boundaries of Manila. Perhaps, which route to take
would depend primarily on what part of Manila you are coming
from. If you are coming from the southern part of Manila, you
could take the South Luzon Tollway route, otherwise, you can
take the Rizal province route. You may want to note however
that the backdoor route is more scenic.
C. TRANSPORTATION MODE
You can reach the site by riding the scheduled trips of
jeepneys from 6am to 5pm. you also have the option to rent a
van for the day, or ride the tricycle to the entrance of the site.
