Optimists! The TEAM WORKS ! Because of YOU Our 2011, 25 Annual Mullet Festival, was the history making, nearly every area (Sponsors, Raffle, Silent Auction, Lunch etcetc) did far better than ever, despite the weatherman. Thank-YOU! Thank-YOU!!! And YOU set the 33 Programs/Projects for 2011/2012, with VOLUNTEER chairperson for each & what seemed to me to be ground breaking involvement & enthusiasm in our up-coming year. Thanks again, for All YOU Do. GOD BLESS.

Our own Jerry Langford reminded us how devastating a hurricane can be and encouraged all to be prepared. Supplies will not be transported to the area from Montgomery until the winds have died down to 40 mph there. Then they will travel to Robertsdale and then to the Lillian/Perdido Beach Point of Distribution (POD) at the Lillian Community Club. It is important to have at least three days of food and water to sustain us until the relief supplies arrive. The POD will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and will provide each vehicle 2 or 3 bags of ice, a case of water, 6 Meals Ready to Eat and 1 tarp. This should sustain families until electricity is restored to the area. Widell Avenue will be one-way east to west to expedite delivery.

Thanks to all Friends of Youth for this very special year and now on to the future Bringing Out the Best in Kids!

The Optimist Creed

Promise Yourself: To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind. To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet. To make all your friends feel that there is something in them. To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true. To think only of the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best. To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own. To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future. To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile. To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others. To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble. O.I.
