will always be associated with memories and emotions that evoke courage and sacrifice. There will be many ceremonies and testimonials next weekend dedicated to the lives of the people who lost their lives here ten years ago in New York , Washington DC and Pennsylvania. At St. Patricks Old Cathedral we have invited men of the local fire stations and their families and friends to join us for the celebration of Mass at 10:30 AM. The names of those members of who died in the tragic events of 9/11/2001 will be read after the Liturgy of the Word;

Firefighters and family members will serve as cross bearers, acolytes, altar servers and readers. All members of the parish are invited to attend the Mass on Sunday, September 11 at 10:30 am. We are proud to show our solidarity with all those who still grieve over the enormous loss to our community, the city and nation. In order to accommodate the numbers of people and the timing of this Mass at 10:30AM, the regular morning Masses: 9:15, 10:15 and 11:30 will be celebrated in the Youth Center at 263 Mulberry Street.

Baptism Class If you are interested in having a child baptized or are preparing to be a godparent at a Baptism in another parish, you can attend our Baptism Preparation Class. If you are not a member of the Parish, you need to obtain a letter from your Pastor. The next class is Monday, September 12 at 7:00pm. You must call and register for the class. Golf Outing
The parishes of St. Patrick's Old Cathedral in Little Italy and St. Peter's Church/St. Joseph's Chapel are teaming up to present a golf and dinner event on Monday, September 19th. This will not only be a great day out to foster the downtown Catholic community, but we will raise needed funds for our parishes various programs. Family Religious Education


The Basilica of St. Patricks Old Cathedral is pleased to offer a sacramental program to students wishing to further their journey in the Catholic community through the sacraments of Penance, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation. We will also have Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Program. Our goal is to teach faith formation for both the child as we as the family: Faith Building Crafts Family Workshops Share, Pray and Worship The Religious Education Classes will take place on Monday afternoons from 3:45 to 6:45 PM. Catechesis of the Good Shepherd will take place on Tuesday afternoons from 4:30 to 5:30PM

Our courtyard at 32 Prince Street is dedicated to hospitality with a reminder that God is alive and well and living across the street in the Basilica. This Sunday, September 11 2:00 to 4:00 PM Adult Continuing Faith Formation After a break following our series on Prayer, St Pat's AFF group will start on Thursday, July 28th 7:30 pm at 263 Mulberry and will continue throughout the Summer & Fall (check the web calendar for updated schedule). Each week we will go over both the Old and New Testament readings for the upcoming Sunday (a practice known as Lectio Divina). We will approach the readings from both a formal and a personal perspective in order to understand the themes in the Gospel at large and to discern how they apply uniquely in our daily lives. Based on the afterschool academic program , Highbridge Voices, our program - Basilica Voices - has the musical goal of creating an exceptional childrens choir and the additional objectives of educating children in the role of music in worship as well as preparing students to participate in the liturgy. At the 10:30AM mass this week, we welcome our guest choral quartet (Brian Dougherty, Minda Larsen, Shelly Watson, and Steve Sherring) as well as Jeong-Bo Shim on violin. We will be singing Faurs incomparable Pie Jesu as well as the Sacred Song (Geistliches Lied) of Johannes Brahms. Members of the Basilica Schola share their talents with the congregation at the 7PM mass, with special offerings of choral and string music, including Da Pacem, Domine by the under-appreciated Czech composer Robert Fhrer (1807-1861).
