Ladies Exclusive Touch Rugby Tournament presented by SAFRA Tampines Rules and Regulations

GAME PLAY
DURATION OF THE GAME 1. All teams in this competition would play a 4 mins per halve game. There will be no half time break. PLAYERS & SUBSTITUTIONS 1. There can only be a maximum of 6 players and a minimum of 3 players of which only 3 are allowed to be on the field at any one time whilst a team is in possession of the ball and a maximum of 2 players while the team is defending

2. Teams are allowed to make unlimited substitutions and at any point in time.

3. Each reserve player should be by the sidelines and is only allowed into the court once the main player has left the game.

4. Physical contact is not necessary between substituting players but the change should be made from the same sideline.

5. If a point is scored, the players are allowed to substitute at will. They can drop off and leave the playing area via the sidelines or the score line. START & RESTART OF PLAY 1. A team would retain possession of the ball until 4 touches have been effected.

2. If a touch is effected on the ball in flight, by a defending player, the attacking team must retain possession of the ball for the touch count to continue. A team is not awarded 4 more touches.

3. Throwing, bouncing or dropping of the ball on or over the touch line will not constitute a score. Possession will be handed over to the defending team in the event of a drop ball on the touch line.

4. After scoring the point, the ball is to be left on the ground at the mark or immediately given to the closest opposition player.

FOULS 1. Time delay by any team through illegal deliberate retaining of the ball will result in a penalty point awarded against the offending team. 2. Unsportsmanlike behaviour is subject to loss of possession, dismissal from the game or loss of 5 metres for the offending players team.

3. Choice of penalties will be to the discretion of the referees. This would include: a) Throwing the ball away at change of possession

b) Fighting or using physical force in the game c) Back talking referees

d) Swearing e) f) Continual breaches of rules. Forward pass

g) Touch pass h) Offside breach

4. Referees decision of choice of penalties will be final. TAP PENALTY 1. Tap penalties are awarded in the following cases: a) Obstruction

b) Forward pass c) Player misconduct

d) Failing to perform rollball where the touch was effected e) When the attacking player passes the ball after an effective touch. (touch pass)

2. For all penalties, the defending team has to move back 5 metres from the mark. If the defending team fails to move back 5 metres, the referee can award another 5 metres advantage.

3. The attacking team must tap the ball with the foot to start replay MISCELLANEOUS RULES 1. In the event that 2 teams where the same coloured uniforms, a coin toss would be used to see which team would have to wear the bibs.

2. Bibs are to be worn with a shirt underneath at all times for hygienic purposes.

3. Player being touched must roll the ball over. Legs have to go over the ball.

4. The player who receives the ball can run or pass to other players.

5. If the player gets touched, it is counted as one of the four touches, only after she has advanced in front of the previously touched teammate. SAFETY & FIRST AID 1. Accessories and jewellery are not allowed to be worn by players during the match as it may cause harm and danger to other players.

2. Ankle straps and guards are optional.

3. Goggles to protect eyes are optional as well TOURNAMENT FORMAT Group Stage 1. Teams will be drawn into groups of 4 or 5. 2. Teams in a group shall play each other once. 3. 3 points will be awarded for a win; 1 point for a draw; no point for loss. 4. Top 2 teams from each group shall advance to the knock-out stage of the competition. Sudden Death 1. In the event of a draw, the GOLDEN GOAL rule applies.

2. This would mean that after the original match time limit, each team is allowed to attack and defend once.

3. The captains would use a coin toss to decide which team attacks first.

4. After one team attacks, they would have to defend. This would mean that one play has occurred.

5. The team that manages to score and prevent the other team from scoring during that one play will win the match. One play constitutes 4 touches.

6. In the event that both teams fail to score, the match would continue in this manner until one team scores the winning point. Additional notes The tournament format is subject to changes in our effort to include as many teams as possible. However, teams can be assured that the revised tournament format, if any, will be as close as the one stipulated here. In the event that there is a change in the tournament format, team captains will be informed of the change. Similarly, any other information that needs to be relayed to the teams will be done through the respective team captains.
