R6.0 SP1 RELEASE LETTER

1. Avaya one-X Clients Avaya is introducing significant enhancements to its Avaya one-X Communicator 6.0 release. Included as an entitlement with Avaya Aura Enterprise Edition, this soft client application enhances user productivity and reduces costs by unifying Avayas desktop communications capabilities. This release also dramatically enhances its value as a collaboration tool with the introduction of Instant Messaging (IM). 2. Whats new with Avaya one-X Communicator 6.0 SP1 Avaya one-X Communicator is Avaya's next-generation softphone supporting both H.323 and SIP audio and video, and providing access to all communications media in a single interface. The new 6.0 SP1 release of Avaya one-X Communicator introduces significant user interface and usability enhancements including: Language support o Simplified Chinese, Dutch, Parisian French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese, Latin American Spanish, and Russian NOTE The operating system language must be English or match the language of the Avaya one-X Communicator application. For example; Avaya one-X Communicator in Italian is only supported on an English or Italian operating system. It is not supported on a German operating system. In SIP, Click-to-Email within Favorites (Enterprise Contacts) is now supported Geo-redundancy with failover/failback supported in SIP My Computer mode only (not supported with Desk phone or Other Phone modes) Avaya one-X Communicator will no longer ring continuously when used as an attendant backup

7. Avaya one-X Communicator 6.0 SP1 Installer Information During installation, the option to select Avaya one-X Portal and/or video integration features no longer exists. These two features are installed by default and require server related administration support and configuration in the Avaya one-X Communicator Settings tab. The options to select Lenovo integration (not supported) and Citrix integration features (supported through use of Avaya one-X Communicator Admin Tool) have also been removed. NOTE: If you are upgrading from Avaya one-X Communicator R1.0 or R5.2 and were using one-X Portal integration and/or video features, you will need to enable these features from Menu Settings Phone and/or Menu Settings Account tabs, respectively. NOTE: Avaya one-X Portal Integration is not supported in SIP mode. NOTE: If you have multiple cameras (such as built-in camera supplied by your PC Manufacturer), you need to explicitly make a preferred camera selection in the Video Setting screen for video calls. Avaya one-X Communicator R6.0 SP1 installer will display a message if the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package application is not installed on the system. If you receive this message, first, install the required Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package ATL Security Update by launching the vcredist_x86.exe file. After this process completes, then install the Avaya one-X Communicator R6.0 SP1 Product Version 6.0.1.16 by launching the onexc_setup_6.0.1.16.msi. NOTE: On 64 bit O/Ss, VC redistributable of 32 bit version is required because Avaya one-X Communicator is a 32 bit application. Therefore even after installing 64 bit version of VC redistributable, installer will prompt to install 32 bit version of VC redistributable. 8. The list below identifies the most critical issues and/or issues that users are most likely to see.

In SIP if you change the server address it will not take effect. You must delete the configcache.xml user file before starting the application for the new server to be used during login. For IM/Presence, Access Control List is not available. Hence, system administrator needs to set System-Wide ACL rule to Allow All on System Manager in Users System Presence ACLs Default Policy. Only 50 Contacts are supported in SIP mode. In a Conference, Presence state is not supported. In H.323 Standalone mode, Communication Manager based caller-ID (name) is displayed over stored Contact Names. If Presence Server is restarted, warning message displayed to user is not clear Application pops-up warning message with verbiage as "Instant Messaging Service" with an "OK button. In SIP My Computer mode, additional call icon is displayed in the active line appearance area. In SIP My Computer mode, if Login Automatically is set for an application and VPN connection has not been established, application caches login behavior. Workaround is to wait until after successful VPN connection is established and completed before launching application.

In SIP Desk phone mode, if 96xx supports Presence, during initial login, Presence for approximately 20 favorites list will not be updated. List will be updated once far-ends individual Presence states are updated. In SIP Desk phone mode, sometimes presence between Avaya one-X Communicator and desk phone is not consistent. Workaround is to disable Presence on the desk phone.

In SIP, Presence and IM is not supported in Search Results (including Favorites results). Presence is not updated by application from hibernation/sleep mode, after 12 Hrs or so. Workaround is to restart application.

Dual-monitors are not supported (Users may observe odd-windowing behavior). Virtual Machine Software is not supported (e.g. VMWare, etc.). Microsoft Outlook 2010 is not supported. In SIP, Click-to-Email within Favorites (Enterprise Contacts) is not supported. Port changes are not supported in the Settings/Advance tab. Do not specify, modify or change port default values. E.164 number as SIP login extension not supported. H.323 Other Phone mode, using dial pad to initiate a call using feature buttons like team, priority, and redial causes the far end party to alert before Other Phone is answered. SIP Other Phone mode, Incoming calls do not work if user sets 2 different proxy server IP addresses in 'Phone' settings. Workaround is to set only 1 proxy server IP address.

2-way audio is broken in scenario where the originating endpoint has enabled Send All Calls or Call Forward in a multi Session Manager environment and the forwarded destination is an Avaya one-X Communicator endpoint. Central Administration Control Tool, Avaya one-X Communicator splash screen freezes if administrator selects Allow saving Login credentials to False. Workaround is to set Allow saving Login credentials to True.

Uninstaller asks user to close Firefox, although Firefox browser Integration was not installed. Workaround is to close all browser windows prior to un-installation.

Sametime Integration: Dialing from Sametime does not apply dialing rules Windows 7: Snapping to side of screen results in incorrect aspect video aspect ratio. Workaround: Press the Full Screen Icon on the Video window (3rd button to the right Square Icon) Click through full screen warning Press Escape to return to normal window Resize window as appropriate

SIP video interoperability issues with Avaya 1000 endpoints: point to point video calls not supported. Video telephony features Hold/Unhold and Transfer are known problems that impact point-to-point video calls. H.323 video interoperability issues with Polycom VSX (H.323) endpoints on Polycom CMA: pointto-point video calls are not supported. In Multi SM setup, SIP 1XC TC does not recover after the network cable reconnected H.323:- Ethernet to Wireless VPN network failure/recovery is not working properly on both idle and active call mode (i.e. 1XC is not able to login after network recovery). H.323:- Wireless VPN to Ethernet network failure/recovery is not working properly on both idle and active call mode (i.e. 1XC is not able to login after network recovery). SIP(Presence-Fallback-For all modes): Presence doesnt work after Fallback on Primary SM. (SV) SIP(TC-Failover): When call is in 'Hold' state and primary SM is down, onexcengine (Spark) crashes.(SV) Wireless VPN: - auto recovery of audio fails, after network failure/reconnect. If user initiates log-off or exit 1XC, the Video window becomes white even though user select as "NO" on the active session message pop up.(SV) 1XC SIP: Unable to download PPM data (and AST Features) if IP address changed after network recovery. Presence also doesnt work. Multi-SM (Session Manager) issues: o o With bridged call appearances, second call only rings once. When a call or a session is initiated from SM1 and terminated by SM on SM2, client will display call session error or other messages during hang-up. Workaround is to configure Avaya one-X Communicator to use primary SM switch the order of SIP servers in Avaya one-X Communicator Phone Settings. o Avaya one-X Communicator Desk phone mode stays logged in for less than a minute. Workaround is to try login after 30 minutes (Registration expiration timer on SM) or remove secondary SM for user configuration in SMGR. o SIP Other Phone mode may fail after 20 calls. Workaround is to exit Avaya one-X Communicator and login again. o PPM policy updates, Core Engine is not updated. Workaround is to logoff and login again.

Intermittent/Not-reproducible/Tracking issues: 1). Intermittent: Sometimes for large call log databases, application has incorrect name to number correlation with Presence and IM icons. 2). Intermittent: SIP (Presence): Sometimes (intermittently), when a user first launches application, Contact's Presence is not displayed. (displaying offline). Workaround is to launch Avaya one-X Communicator and try login again. 3). Intermittent: SIP My Computer in Alpha trials: No visibility to Favorites and NO presence. Workaround is to launch Avaya one-X Communicator and try login again. 4). Not Reproducible: SIP Desk phone with 2.6 GA in Alpha trials: Contact Name of IM window conversation changes to someone else. 5). Not Reproducible: SIP Other Phone: Initiating 3 way conference displays error message resulting in Avaya one-X Communicator closing and exiting. 6). Not Reproducible: SIP Other Phone: Conferencing 3 incoming calls displays error message resulting in Avaya one-X Communicator closing and exiting.
