Q.8 to Q.10 has four choices (A), (B), (C), (D) out of which ONLY ONE is correct.
Paragraph for question nos. 8 to 10
Friction is a force that aids us daily, in fact so much so that we don't even pause to appreciate its
importance. We would not be able to wear pants or jeans without friction. For example, we would have
to live like aborigines in the jungle. The shirt is supported at our shoulders. But if we stand up the weight
of our jeans is to be supported by a vertical force. The surface of our waist and thighs can be approximated
to be like curved surface of a vertical cylinder. The force of friction acting between this curved surface
and jeans balances the weight of the jeans.
To understand this mathematically, let us consider a vertical man whose waist is a rigid cylinder having a
circumference of 90 cm. He wears a jeans of mass 500 gm using an elastic massless belt which can be
assumed to be a elastic string of force constant 500N/m and circumference 85cm when not extended.
The coefficient of friction between waist and jeans is 0.5.

of which ONLY ONE is correct.
For Q.1 to Q.7, you will be awarded 3 marks, if you have darkened only the bubble corresponding to the
correct answer and zero mark if no bubble are darkened. In all other cases, minus one (1) mark will be
awarded.
2. Q.8 to Q.12 are Paragraph type. Based upon the first paragraph 3 single correct type questions have
to be answered. Each of these questions has four choices (A), (B), (C) and (D) out of which ONLY ONE
is correct.
For each question, you will be awarded 3 marks if you have darkened only the bubble corresponding to the correct
answer and zero mark if no bubble are darkened. In all other cases, minus one (1) mark will be awarded.
3. Q.13 to Q.15 are multiple correct type questions.Each question has four choices (A), (B), (C) and
(D) out of which ONE OR MORE may be correct.
For each question, you will be awarded 4 marks if you have darkened only the bubble corresponding to the correct
answer and zero mark if no bubble are darkened. No negative marks will be awarded in this section.
PART-B
4. Q.1 are Matrix Match type question. Each question has Four statements (A, B, C, D) given in Column-I and
Five statements (P, Q, R, S, T) given in Column-II. Any given statement in Column-I can have correct matching
with one or more statement(s) given in Column-II. For example, if for a given question, statement B matches with
the statement given in Q and R, then for the particular question, against statement B darken the bubbles corresponding
to Q and R in the OMR.
For Q.1, you will be awarded 3 marks for each row in which you have darkened the bubble(s) corresponding
to the correct answer. Thus Q.1 carries a maximum of 12 marks
PART-C
5. Q.1 to Q.4 are Integer Type questions. The answer to each question is upto 4 digit ranging from
0 to 9999. The correct digit below the question number in the OMR is to be bubbled.
For each question, you will be awarded 5 marks if you darken the bubble corresponding to the correct
answer and zero mark if no bubble is darkened.
For example, if for a given question, your answer is 25, then for the particular question, against question number
you must fill as 0025 in the OMR. No negative marks will be awarded in this section.
6. Indicate the correct answer for each question by filling appropriate bubble in your answer sheet.
7. Use of Calculator, Log Table, Slide Rule and Mobile is not allowed.
8. The answers of the questions must be marked by shading the circle against the question by dark HB pencil only.

[Sol. The valid resonating structures of azide ion are :
The most stable structure of azide ion is III as the negative charge is on 2 atoms rather than on one atom
as in (III) & (IV). Then strucutre (II) & (IV) are equally stable but less stable than structure (II). Struc-
ture (I) is the least stable as it is not the right representation of azide ion.]

(B) (II) > (I) > (III) > (IV)
(C) (II) > (IV) > (III) > (I)
(D*) (II) > (III) > (I) > (IV)
[Sol. Removal of an electron from anion is much easier than removing an electron from a cation. Thus, highest
ionization energy needed is for Fe
