US GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum to speak at Rockwall GOP Men's Club meeting Oct. 8
Republican U.S. Presidential candidate Rick Santorum will be the featured speaker at the Rockwall Co. GOP Men's Club breakfast, Oct. 8, at approximately 9:30 am. The now $6 breakfast still begins at 8 am but this month at the Rockwall City Place Center at 108 E. Washington to allow for a larger crowd. The former two-term Congressman and three-term U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania will be attending other campaign events in the DFW area that same day. Considered a strong social and fiscal conservative, Santorum was called the winner of the Sept. 22 Fox News/Google Republican Debate by a number of political reporters after he aggressively attacked Texas Gov. Rick Perry for his views on illegal immigration. Their exchange was one of the most memorable highlights of the debate, resulting in Gov. Perry stating that anyone who objected to providing in-state tuition to illegals doesn't "have a heart." Santorum then interjected that students that are illegally in this country should not be able to go to a college or university subsidized by taxpayers. Rockwall attorney, twice-elected former Judge Jim Pruitt running for new Rockwall Co. State House seat
Rockwall attorney and twice-elected former Dallas County Criminal Court Judge Jim Pruitt, who was instrumental in creating the first dedicated domestic violence court in Dallas, has announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for the new District 33 seat in the Texas House of Representatives. Pruitt, 55, who was elected Judge of Dallas Co. Criminal Court #2 in 1994 and 1999, also collaborated while on the bench with the Department of Public Safety to write the first regulations in Texas governing DWI ignition interlock providers. Elected by his judicial colleagues as a Presiding Judge over the Dallas County Courts and as a local administrative judge,he frequently traveled to Austin to work with legislators regarding laws that would affect the criminal justice system. After leaving the bench, the board-certified criminal lawyer moved to Rockwall and formed the law firm of Culpepper and Pruitt with his wife, Kenda Culpepper. When Culpepper was elected as the Rockwall County District Attorney in 2008, he created the Pruitt Law Firm, which practices mediation, family and intellectual property law. The newly-formed House district encompasses all of Rockwall County and outer portions of Collin County, including Frisco, as a result of the recent redistricting process. Rep. Jodie Laubenberg (R-Murphy) will no longer represent Rockwall Co. beginning in January, 2013, after the November, 2012, general election. The primary election will be held March 6, 2012, and the general election Nov. 6, 2012. For more info, see www.pruittfortexas.com.
