Water Cooled Chiller with Rotary Screw Compressor COOLING CAPACITY 700 to 1350 kW Refrigerant R134a
Driveline The compressor housing is manufactured from cast iron, precision machined to provide minimal clearance for the rotors. The rotors are manufactured from forged steel and use asymmetric profiles operating at a maximum speed of 2975 RPM (50 Hz). Heat Exchangers Shells - Evaporator and condenser shells are fabricated from rolled carbon steel plates with fusion-welded seams. Carbon steel tube sheets, drilled and reamed to accommodate the tubes, are welded to the end of each shell. Intermediate tube supports are fabricated from 12 mm carbon steel plates. Oil Separator The combined oil separator/reservoir shall is a high efficiency, augmented gas impingement type to maximise oil extraction without fragile media to break down. Capacity Control Capacity control is achieved by use of a slide valve that provides fully modulating control from 100% to 20% of full load, depending upon unit selection. The slide valve is actuated by oil pressure controlled by external solenoid valves via the control panel. A modulating variable orifice controlled by the OptiView Control Center to accommodate varying head conditions, meters the refrigerant flow to the evaporator. Control panel OPTIVIEW CONTROL CENTER Easy to Read YORK has always pioneered powerful, yet simple chiller control. We were the first to apply microprocessor-based, plain-language-display control centres to screw chillers. Now, YORK YR screw chillers feature the full-screen, full-colour OptiView Control Centre. Its an advanced, microprocessor control centre that sets the standard by presenting the most data in the clearest fashion. The LCD display allows graphic animated display of the chiller, chiller sub-systems and system parameters; this allows the presentation of several operating parameters at once. In addition, the operator may view a graphical representation of the historical operation of the chiller as well as the present operation. The control panel, supplied as standard on each chiller, provides the ultimate in efficiency and chiller protection. State of-the-art microelectronics assure precise, reliable chiller control logic and safety annunciations. The control centre allows direct interfacing with the YORK Integrated Systems Network (ISN) building automation system, allowing complete integration of chiller, airside, and building automation controls. Solid State Starter Solid-State Starter Extends Motor Life Equipped with its Solid State Starter, the YR screw chiller starts "softly," putting less stress on the motor and compressor, extending their life. In addition, the Solid State Starter includes an impressive array of safety controls that protect the chiller against: phase loss, phase reversal, phase imbalance, under-voltage, over-voltage, and over-current. The solid-state starter is a reduced voltage starter that controls and maintains a constant current flow to the motor during start-up. It is compact and mounted on the unit adjacent to the motor terminals. Power and control wiring is factory supplied.

The Importance of Real-World Energy Performance

YORK YR screw chillers provide the best route to real-world energy performance the combined performance at all operating conditions, not just design. Because chillers in the real world operate nearly 95% of the time at offdesign conditions, off-design performance is the major factor in energy consumption. Thats why YR screw chillers are engineered for maximum efficiency at both design and off-design conditions.

Designed for all air conditioning applications

The YORK Rotary Screw Chiller is completely factory packaged including evaporator, condenser, sub-cooler, oil separator, compressor, motor, lubrication system, control panel, and all interconnecting unit piping and wiring. The YR range of chillers are designed for water or water/glycol cooling. The twin-screw compressor is a semihermetic designed. Heat exchangers are the flooded type with refrigerant passing through the cooler and condenser shells and water in the tubes. A Cooling Tower is required for heat rejection. All units are designed for plant room installation.
