Itv launches with two stunning events

Itv, the worlds rst english speaking Islamic television station beaming from South Africa on the pas/7 ofcially launched with two major events. The rst was a Nasheed evening on 17th july 2010 with a father and son performance - Zain and Rashid Bhikha to an eager audience at the Wits Great Hall. In attendance were illustrious scholars, ulema, youth leaders, itv celebrities, Itv senior management and womens forum leaders. Gracing the programme also were viewers other favourites: sheikh salam el sayed, qari basheer patel, qari ziyad Patel and moulana muhamed saley all ably managed by the programme director, Mr. Abdullah Sujee, principal of Roshnee Islamic School. Dr. Mohamed Adam, chairman of Itv and Louis Pasteur Investments, addressed the audience with utmost humility and attributed the success of Itv to the mercy of Allah (swt) and all those who served Itv, from technicians, presenters, scholars, well wishers and viewers. He made ten thousand Haj miles available to three fortunate ticket holders, the rst was ve, the second three and the third two thousand Haj miles. Each Haj mile equals one rand. In essence ten thousand rand was given as prizes towards Haj. It is popular knowledge that Dr. Mohamed Adam is passionate about affordable Haj and it came as no surprise that he gave each adult ticket holder present two hundred Haj miles and each youth, three hundred Haj miles. Imam Saeed Mohamed of Itv welcomed the audience with the timeless recitation of `Talaal badru alayna - the welcome Nasheed rendered for the Prophet Muhammed (Saw) as he was welcomed in Madina after the gruelling migration from Makkatu Mukarramah to Medina..The second stunning launch event of Itv is the gala dinner 23rd July 2010, being hosted here today at the Wanderers Club. Itv is honoured to have the presence of the emminent Mufti Ismail Ibn Moosa Menk as guest of honour as well as a string of dignatories and leading members of the community, Womens forums, Itv personnel and NGOs.

Itv Chronicles
After six years in broadcasting, Itv is pleased to launch as the worlds rst English language islamic tv channel. Itv is available on multiple platforms. Ofcially it is found on the vivid decoder channel 8 but can also be viewed on all free to air decoders (ftas) - including the radio Islam decoder and the public bouquet of DSTV. Itv is accessible to viewers in the whole of Southern Africa..Itv began recording programmes in December 2002 in Pretoria at the Louis Pasteur hospital. Itv s very rst guest was a youth, Mohammed Yusuf Cajee, the rst camera operator was Dr. Mohamed Adam and Itv s rst presenter sister Shamshad Sayed while Itvs rst studio operator was Parvez Khan. Broadcasting began in 2003. The genesis of Itv was borne out of the need to show the truth around the world and showcase the beauty of Islam. Itv was founded by two brothers Dr. Mohamed Adam and Dr. Ahmed Adam who inspired the African continent and the world to utilise the visual media as an intrument to benet Islam and Muslims. Not only did Itv become a medium for Dawah but it succeeded in breaking the myth that television is forbidden in Islam. With Itv, sensationalising the truth, morality and virtue became an added reality..With its meagre staff, resources and infrastructure, Itv was able to win the hearts and minds of people across southern africa irrespective of colour, creed or religion. This was the winning characteristic of the holy prophet Muhammed (pbuh) who with the smallest of means achieved the greatest success. A distinguished string of presenters then assisted Itv in building up solid content which was balanced, unbiased, academic yet spritual giving itv the clean name that it has. A second Itv ofce and studio was set up in Johannesburg in 2005 at the Kine Centre headed by Sister Shamshad Sayed.

Louis Pasteur Investments, under the chairmanship of Dr. M. Adam continued to fund Itv and as at December 2009 this funding reached a staggering thirty million rand, as nalised by external auditors. Undeterred by the world economic meltdown which deepened in 2010, Dr. Mohamed Adam devised a

pay back system for contributors to Itv with innovative Haj and Itv miles intended to invite viewers to be part of Itvs noble venture. Dr. Mohamed Adam also invested in a 24 hour playbox server to add greater value to the scheduling of Itv content which presently runs on a three hour tape. Subsequently Sister Shamshad, Dr. Mohamed and Imam Saeed Mohamed painstakingly designed a twenty four hour schedule for Itv which is the blue print of the marketing drive led by Sister Nasiha Patel and brother Farhad Omar..While Itvs rst ofcial guest was a youth, the second ofcial guest was a woman, Sister Sakina Dhlomo, which indicates the special place women have at Itv. It was largely they who spread the word of Itv in Southern Africa. Perhaps it was their addiction to Sheikh Salamas wonderfully uplifting programmes about the supreme position of women as the almighty himself stipulated, or because they realised their potential leadership as expressed in Islam by the likes of Hazrat Khadija(Ra), the devoted wife and enrepreneur or Hazrat Ayesha(Ra), the exceptional educator and recorder of Ahadith preached on Itv by countless scholars, ulama and presenters. With its programmes, simple acts of living became discussion points and acts of islamisation. What began as an exciting cooking programme evolved into a session on dialogue for islamic living, sharing and morality. It culminated in the completion of the itv quick and easy recipe book which is now available. With this book, itv has become a household name. It was dr. Ahmed Adam who received the initial wave of vibrant and enthusiastic presenters with utmost humility and hospitality that contributed to the credibility and good reputation of itv.His recently published book Islam in the media is a magnicent testimony to his determination to contribute to truth and justice for Muslims in the media. To all those who have journeyed with itv, including Dr. Siddiq Tayob, Ebrahim Patel, Sheikh Abdullah Deedat, Sheikh Abdus Samad Abdul Kader, Tony Mohlaisane, and all presenters, technicians, engineers, content providers, NGOs etc and to all those who have joined Itv now, may we continue to strive in the light of the founding members who have achieved so much in uniting the Ummah with being truthful, generous and sincere.

May the almighty Allah (swt) always protect and sustain Itv as a benet to humanity, Insha Allah!
