Greetings from Disabled Peoples International Asia Pacific (DPI/AP). This is the temporary design for our Newsletter. This is an email update featuring developments in the field of disability, developments concerning social justice and news from around the world. Because of the importance of social justice as a basis for our work, we added this as topic into our newsletter.

A) Developments in the field of disability

First of all you should be informed that the sterilisation campaign of Women With Disabilities Australia (WWDA) has gone global. Please support WWDA's campaign to end forced sterilisation of girls and women with disabilities. You can sign the petition letter to the Attorney General at: http://www.stoptortureinhealthcare.org/campaigner/carolyn-frohmader 1. National Cultural Policy have your say! This is a call to all people who like to comment the National Cultural Policy of Australia. To the end, to call on the Government to ensure that disability is adequately represented in all areas of the NCP. This is an opportunity to make sure that arts and culture is accessible for everyone to enjoy. Please follow link. 2. Training course on "Database Analysis and Project Report Writing" This is an information that the Social Development Training Center (SDTC) would like to announce the training course on Database Analysis and Project Report Writing occurred from 25 - 28 of October 2011 at Ton Duc Thang University (Vietnam). Please find the program details attached in this email. 3. DGSE starts negotiations with JICA for holding disability survey This is an article about the negotiations between the Directorate General of Special Education (DGSE) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for conducting a fresh survey of persons with disability in the country. It was told that there is no proper record of persons with disabilities in the country and that a survey would help to allocate resources in facilitating such people. Please follow link. 4. Support the visually impaired This is a short post about the United Blind Persons (UBP) of Fiji and their annual two weeks White Cane Awareness Campaign. Please follow link. 5. Kapil Sibal inaugurates sign language centre This is an article about the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) which inaugurated two centers on Tuesday. Please follow link. 6. Inclusive Education for Persons with Disabilities This is a report about a meeting of the Pacific Islands Forum Directors of Education in Nadi (Fiji) which will be held from the 19 21 of October. They are going to discuss the challenges and a new direction for including persons with disabilities in the Pacific region's education system. Please follow link.
