Power House Message

What Path Do I Walk On?

PRE-INTRODUCTION

Hebrews 10:24-25 – “Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and
good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but
encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.”

God is speaking these words to us right now. We must motivate and encourage one
another! The devil is trying to destroy our unity in order that we will not fulfill spreading
the gospel. However, we must come together as a family in order to set people free!

INTRODUCTION
In order to do God’s work and walk with Jesus, we must be freed from the control of
demonic powers. We must live by this truth, not just hear it over and over again.

KEY TEXT (NLT version)

Mark 8:34-38 – “Then, calling the crowd to join his disciples, he said, “If any of you
wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and
follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for
my sake and for the sake of the Good News, you will save it. And what do you benefit if
you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your
soul? If anyone is ashamed of me and my message in these adulterous and sinful days,
the Son of Man will be ashamed of that person when he returns in the glory of his
Father with the holy angels.”

BODY

Through the worldly system, demonic powers are controlling people to be focused only
upon the things of this earth (which will all fade away) and not focus upon the things of
eternity.

Example: The movie, The Matrix, is not a Christian movie but it holds some truth. The
people of that movie are in a delusion, not understanding that they are being controlled
by a machine. Some, however, are pulled out and can set others free to the truth.

The ones who are free are the ones who can set others free.

I. The only way to be free is to die to yourself.

Mark 8:34 – “Then, calling the crowd to join his disciples, he said, “If any of you wants to
be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow
me.”
• If you follow the ways of this world (the worldly system) or if you are
following your own selfish desires, then you are following the devil.

Ephesians 2:1-3 – “Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your many
sins. You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil—the
commander of the powers in the unseen world. He is the spirit at work in the hearts
of those who refuse to obey God. All of us used to live that way, following the
passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we
were subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else.”

• The only way to come out of that system is to die to yourself/deny

yourself.

II. If you refuse to follow Jesus there are clear consequences.

Mark 8:35-37 – “If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up
your life for my sake and for the sake of the Good News, you will save it. And what do
you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more
than your soul? If anyone is ashamed of me and my message in these adulterous and
sinful days, the Son of Man will be ashamed of that person when he returns in the glory
of his Father with the holy angels.”

• If you fail to follow Jesus but follow the ways of this world, you will lose
your eternal life  eternally condemned
• Even if you gain all the things of this world but lose your soul…there is no
benefit!
• If you are afraid to speak about Jesus in the fear of man on this earth (if
you deny Jesus now)  Jesus will not speak for you in the end (He will
deny you!)

So who do you want to walk with?

III. How can we be free to walk with Jesus Christ?

How can we deny ourselves and walk with Jesus?

If you are a prisoner to this world, you cannot walk! Only somebody who is stronger
than you can set you free  Jesus Christ (you need a Savior!) You need to see that
you are in bondage and need the help of a Savior.

1. REPENT!
2. Change your lifestyle  make Jesus your LORD! (Jesus did
not die just to save us but to be our King on this earth)
3. Follow Jesus willfully in knowing the truth (John 10:10)

CONCLUSION

In the end, Jesus will be recognized as the rightful king. All of creation will bow down
before the feet of Jesus. Those who followed Jesus on this earth and ruled with Him
will come in His glory and rule over the eternal kingdom.

We are living in the mission field right now! Jesus is clearly showing us how to be freed
from demonic control and how to walk with Jesus to set people free!

QUESTIONS
1. Talk about a time that you thought you were on the right path but you ended up in
the wrong place. Talk about how you felt and what you did when you realized
you were in the wrong place.
2. The one who strives to gain everything in this world, the bible calls them a fool.
What are you striving towards and what is more important to you (gaining the
things of this world or souls)?  Are you a fool?
3. Share your testimony of a time you repented and made Jesus your Lord.
