From 1975 to 1982 she worked with the Foreign Ministry but she gave up this job in order to devote to the civic participation and civil rights protection development. In 1978 she set up with other founders the Democratic Federative Movement, today known as Cittadinanzattiva (CA). For more than 30 years, CA promoted in Italy and all around Europe citizens involvement in public policies and programmes aimed at improving human and civil rights in matter of health, consumers, education, judicial system and public administration. From 1988 to 2002, Teresa Petrangolini was the National Secretary of Tribunal of Patients Rights (CA). It is an important network which plays a crucial role in Italys health policy in patients favour with a total of 350 local branches and about 10.000 volunteers. In 2002, Mrs. Petrangolini became the Secretary General of Cittadinanzattiva, which under her mandate was not only awarded by the President of the Italian Republic with the gold medal for Public Health, but in 2007 it also won first prize as Organized Civil Society being awarded by the European and Social Economic Committee. During the following years, Cittadinanzattiva (CA) sharply improved its activities in several fields, such as school and education, consumer policy, legality and transparency in public administration and Corporate Social Responsibility. The headquarter of CA numbers about 60 collaborators, with 90.000 members and 250 local offices, and it also disposes of a European network (ACN). In 2009, since Mrs. Petrangolini was put in charge of Cittadinanzattiva International Policies, the association gained membership both to Civicus -World Alliance for Citizens participation- and to the United Nation Global Compact network. In 2010, Mrs. Petrangolini became the director of the European Active Citizenship Network, which gathers about 90 organizations from 30 different countries. ACN, founded on 2001, achieved 19 projects on the promotion of European active citizenship and took significant steps on patients rights improvement. Moreover, she is one of the charter member of FONDACA -Active Citizenship Foundation (thinkthank)-, as well as member of its Board of Directors. She also covers a roles in the EU Health Policy Forum (DG Sanco) and in the Active citizenship Structural Dialogue group

(DG EAC European Commission). Furthermore, Mrs. Petrangolini is a charter member of the Pain Alliance Europe Association and she also was member of the Administration Council for Health Services Agency. She constantly carries out training activities in matter of civic participation for several institutions, such as public administrations, associations, organizations and universities; as a matter of fact, she covered the role of University Professor for the Master Citizenship Policies and Regional Welfare at La Sapienza University of Rome, as well as the Master European Health Care Systems at Udine University. She has skills and competences as general manager e senior program leader in no profit organizations. She has the ability to lead a team and support the new HR growth and a special attitude to manage complex relationship with public and private sector stakeholders. She is a problem solving person with the capacity to innovate, to think strategically, to translate ideas into practice. She has also communications skills, both oral and written. Finally, she has the capacity to manage local networks, economic planning and fundraising. With the respect to the specific field of children protection CA was promoter of several initiative and campaign: the right to play in the hospital, the engagement against childrens pain, the participation to the Annual Report on the Convention on the rights of the Child, the change of the chronically ill childrens condition, the promotion of laboratories of active citizenship in the schools, campaigns on bullying, on well being education, on safety culture and risk control in the school, in addition to participation in the Court for the legal defense of children who died as a result of collapse of school buildings (Rivoli, San Giuliano di Puglia, LAquila).

2002/2006 Implementation undertaking of art. 118, par. 4, of the Italian Constitution in matter of horizontal subsidiarity, that is: Constitution of the Committee Quelli del 118 in collaboration with institutional experts and representatives and 15 associations; Establishment of 3 National Conventions on Subsidiarety; Foundation of Labsus, a subsidiarity laboratory on knowledge and experience sharing in this field. 2005/2011 Civic participation and evaluation. In 2008/2010, a three-years Convention with the Italian Department of Health was signed in order to develop and formalize the Civic Audit, which was created by 150 local health departments and 8 Italian Regions. In 2006, it was also drawn an agreement with the Public Function Department in matter of promotion and support of civic participation, subsidiarity and civic assessing of quality of public and local services. Citizens Rights Guardianship and protection. In 2002/2011, the citizens assistance service was empowered throughout the establishment of a single Integrated Guardianship Project (PiT), with 30 regional offices that safeguard about 30.000 people every year in the field of health, consumers protection and Court access. Many campaign were promoted against architectonic barriers, to protect bank users, to educate on the use of water resources, to reduce the waiting list for medical treatments, etc. School and Educational Engagement. Since 2002 until now, in cooperation with the Civil Protection Department, it was set up a monitoring programme on School Building Safety, as well as the National Schools Building Safety Day. In matter of schools, CA also established numbers of Laboratories for Active Citizenship and participated in the drafting of two monitoring reports called Italys Convention on Childrens and Adolescents Rights. Networking and Partnership. Empowerment of CnAMC (Coordination of Chronic Disease Patients); participation in several syndicates and alliances with other institution and associations- Thanks to this alliances AC has achieved a law article establishing good seizure for corrupted public administrators.

6. Social Corporate Responsibility. Setting up of seminaries, workshops and European projects, such as Not Alone, in matter of partnership between civic organizations and private enterprises. Under Mrs. Petrangolini direction, CA also became member of the UN Global Impact programme on Social Corporate Responsibility. 7. Europe. (before 2010) Active Citizenship Network boasts about 19 projects in matter of citizens rights, consumers, patients rights and social corporate responsibility, as well as the drafting of the European Charter on Patients Rights (2002). ACN also participated in debates and auditions held in the European Parliament, Commission and in the Social and Economic Committee.
