ABSTRACT

This experiment has the following objectives: 1.) to determine and compare the
correlation of an individual’s listening skills to the basic cognitive abilities of the human
mind; 2.) to emphasize the significance of listening skills to accomplishment of tasks and
accuracy of the objectives of an individual.

The experimenter administered an audio type of test which involved the a certain medium
to randomly selected students. (excluding the gender and age profile). It involved four
aspects of listening skills which included the Directions test, Repeat- it test, Quick
Thinking and Reading Comprehension test.

The table shows that there is only one respondent who answered appropriately. It
emphasizes that there is a greater no. of respondents who failed the Directions Test, while
only 2 respondents are doubting for their immediate response.

Table 2 shows that there is a greater number of respondents who answered the Repeat- it
Test than those who did not respond at all on all items. It could be interpreted here that
the respondents reacted on the given items with all conviction and awareness.

Table 3 shows that most of the respondents concluded their answers accurately while
listening to the recording. It could be interpreted here that they were capable of listening
and at the same time analyze situational conflicts with pure concentration.

The experimenter recorded an excerpt of just one paragraph with just one question. The
table shows that the number of respondents who answered the test is greater than those
who did not. It could be interpreted here that the subjects were able to listen carefully to
the story and answer the corresponding question right away.
Conclusion
The experimenters of this study therefore concluded that there is a high correlation and
affinity between the cognitive abilities of the randomly chosen subjects to their listening
skills as shown in the test.
In other words, respondents were able to answer the following tests: Directions, Repeat-
it, Quick Thinking and Reading Comprehension. While listening to the prepared medium
or apparatus of the recorded test.
