Lisa Tricarico Website proposal The purpose of my website will be an educational course page for my special education class.

The goal of this page will be to outline the weekly lesson plans and provide extra work for students to complete to better understand the material. It is also a differentiated learning service for these students because children with learning disability sometimes need special accommodations. They can also benefit from seeing the material in a different environment, such as at home on the computer. The audience of the website is the parents or guardians and the students. The guardians will benefit from this website because they will be able to follow along with the curriculum of the classroom and see what their child is learning at the time. There will also be an easy way to contact myself, the teacher, if they have any questions or concerns. This website will also be geared towards the students also because it will have extra work that the students can complete to provide them with more learning opportunities. The idea is that the parents will work along with the students to become an active part in their childs learning. This website is very important to me because I have a special needs brother and I believe he would have greatly benefitted from another aspect of learning. Also, I know that my mother would have wanted to be more involved and aware of what was going on in my brothers classroom. Since I have always wanted to be a special education teacher due to my little brother, I would want to make sure that I do the best I can and truly change my students lives. The Internet based tools that I will use along with the website itself will be videos to go along with each lesson. Also, there will be places to submit responses to certain questions that are asked for each weekly lesson. This will encourage students to continue their learning after they leave the classroom and will provide them with even more instruction to gain a better understanding. Last, I will also provide a live chat for the parents to come with questions. I believe open communications between parents and teacher can benefit my attempts to get the parents more involved in their childs learning. This is essential because children with disabilities will progress better if they have support form not only their teacher, but their guardians, too. It can be defined as ones ability to Explore the full range of media that a teacher might use to enhance his or her instruction and augment student learning, (Lever-Duffy, & Mcdonald. 2011, p. 5). It is the way a teacher takes advantage of different aspects of technology and learning to enhance his or her students learning. For the student viewers, this site will have more pictures, stories, and videos to go along with the lesson for each week. Pictures will reach the more visual students, while auditory students will benefit from videos posted. The students will also be able to respond to questions that go along with the material. The role of the parents is to help the student get involved at home with this website to continue their childs learning once they are out of the classroom and it is essential that there will be a designated area for parents to reach out to the teacher.
