Constitution

Preamble The Elite Paranormal Investigation Crew of TXST is dedicated to the researching, exploring and debunking of paranormal phenomenon around the state of Texas. Our mission is to educate the university and others about paranormal activity as well as capture or debunk evidence of the paranormal. Article I. - Name The official name of the organization will be the Elite Paranormal Investigation Crew or E.P.I.C for short. Article II. Purpose The purpose of this organization is to research, explore, and debunk paranormal activity around the state of Texas. Article III. Membership SECTION 1. Qualifications Any student with a GPA of 2.25 or better, faculty, or staff member of Texas State University can participate in this organization. Scaredy cats, believers, non-believers, tough guys, and all those inbetween are encouraged to join! SECTION 2. Becoming a member To become a member of the Elite Paranormal Investigation Crew one must read over and sign the constitution showing that they understand the rules of this organization. All members will also be asked to submit a clear photo of themselves and fill out a simple questionnaire to see where they stand in their beliefs of the paranormal. Article IV. Voting membership All those who are dues paying members have eligible votes in each election. Article V. The duties and privileges of membership It will be required that each member represent the Elite Paranormal Investigation Crew and Texas State University in the best possible way during meetings, investigations, and any other activities affiliated with the organization. It is also the duty of each member to carry out and respect any policy or procedure established through this constitution or by Texas State.

Any member found in violation of this constitution, any policy of Texas State, or conduct unbecoming of this organization will be reviewed for his/her misconduct during the next officer meeting. Article VI. The establishment of officers, their duties, and authority SECTION 1. The Committee 1. The committee will be comprised of the President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Tech Manager, Secretary, Tech Assistant, Researcher, and Web Technician. 2. Each officer will hold a year-long term beginning on the first day after elections and will be held until the day of elections the following year. 3. There are no restrictions on the number of terms an officer may hold. 4. Every member of the committee will be required to attend the weekly officer meetings unless they have prior approval from the President. 5. All official voting that is not delegated to the organization as a whole will be voted upon by the officers during their weekly officer meeting. 6. All officers will be required to uphold the constitution of this organization as well as the policies and procedures of Texas State to the fullest extent. 7. No officer can hold more than one official position at any time. All positions are exclusive. SECTION 1.1 The President 1. Preside over all weekly officer and member meetings. 2. Responsible for making and keeping up with the organizations calendar. They will make a general calendar at the beginning of each semester to be established by the second meeting and be required to update the calendar weekly. 3. Act as a liaison between the organization and the rest of Texas State. 4. Schedule all programming for the organization. 5. Appoint leadership positions when necessary. 6. Manage committee functions and progress. 7. Preside over any other meeting affiliated with this organization not described within this constitution. 8. Lead each Paranormal Investigation. 9. Have priority when signing up for each investigation.

10. Delegate someone to preside over meetings or investigations if the President or Vice President cannot do so. 11. Meet with owners or those knowledgeable about each location the group will investigate at before each investigation.

SECTION 1.2 The Vice President 1. Preside over weekly officer and member meetings if the President cannot make it. 2. Keep track of all members information and paperwork. 3. Keep track of any problems caused by members or officers. 4. Establish means of transportation to each investigation. 5. Lead a Paranormal Investigation if the President cannot do so. 6. Have priority when signing up for each investigation. 7. Meet with owners or those knowledgeable about each location the group will investigate at before each investigation. SECTION 1.3 Treasurer 1. Collect dues from all paying members. 2. Manage expenses and create a budget for each semester. 3. Create and run fundraising activities. 4. Manage the organizations bank account. 5. Have priority when signing up for each investigation. 6. Keep track of all receipts from group spending. SECTION 1.4 Tech Manager 1. Control the organizations equipment. 2. Collect and store all visual and audio evidence from officers and members after each investigation. 3. Run evidence examination groups. 4. Present possible evidence to the other officers and members during the weekly meetings.

5. Have priority when signing up for investigations. 6. Set up equipment at each location. 7. Meet with owners or those knowledgeable about each location the group will investigate at before each investigation. SECTION 1.5 Secretary 1. Establish contact with the owners or those knowledgeable of each possible investigation location. 2. Take notes of officer and general meetings to be posted weekly on our website. 3. Keep track of who goes on each investigation. 4. Keep track of those who sign up to examine evidence. 5. Keep track of those who help with fundraising activities 6. Keep track of each location E.P.I.C has investigated. SECTION 1.6 Tech Assistant 1. Help the Tech Manager whenever needed. 2. Help run evidence examination groups. 3. Take over the Tech Managers duties if the Tech Manager cannot do so. 4. Help set up equipment on each investigation. SECTION 1.7 Researcher 1. Take suggestions from group members and officers on possible locations to investigate. 2. Research the history of each location. 3. Work with the secretary when contacting the owners or those knowledgeable of each location. 4. Research the reported paranormal activity at each location. SECTION 1.8 Web Technician 1. Run the organizations website. 2. Post the evidence found and verified by the group members onto the website. 3. Update the website weekly or as needed.

4. Alert members of any change in the organization through the website or email. Article VII. Selection and Removal of officers SECTION 1. Election of officers In order to be eligible to serve as an officer the candidate must uphold all rules of the organization, be in good standing with Texas State, and uphold at least a 2.25 Texas State GPA. The elections will be held within the first month of each academic year and will be announced a month before the elections are scheduled to be held. This means that the announcement of the election date will be made during the summer. All candidates must either accept their nominations or nominate themselves within a week of the election date being announced. The only exceptions to this rule will be considered by the current president. All the candidates names and positions they are running for will be announced to the organization a week before elections are scheduled to be held. All candidates must also send in their applications no later than one week before the election date. Absolutely no applications will be accepted after that. Candidates can apply for more than one position, but cannot be elected for more than one. In the event that a candidate is elected for two positions, the current officers will review their application and decide which position the candidate will fill. SECTION 2. Elections Elections are to be held in September of the new academic school year during a scheduled organization meeting. During the assigned election time, candidates will address the organization members as to why they should be picked and what makes them qualified for that specific position. Only those who have paid dues for that semester are eligible to vote. Alumni and graduate members are not required to pay dues in order to vote if they are in good standing with the organization and are considered active members. SECTION 3. Sanctions for violations Any member found to be in violation of the constitution, university policy, or conduct unbecoming of the organization will be subject to any or all of the following: removal from office, banishment from the club, reporting to the advisor, or reporting to the university. SECTION 4. Vacancy in office Should any officer position become vacant due to either removal, resignation, or inability to fulfill their duties, a special election will be announced during the next regularly scheduled meeting to be held at the following regularly scheduled meeting in the form of majority vote. All applicants must send in their application before the special election date. SECTION 5. Impeachment If any officer is forcibly removed from office because of violation of the constitution or the Dean of Students policies or cannot fulfill their duties to the fullest capacity will removed from office during the next officer meeting. The accused will be allowed to plead their case before the other officers then their removal will be voted upon. Once forcible removed from office, that person may never serve as an officer again.

SECTION 6. Violations. This is only a general guideline of violations to be used towards the disciplinary action of any member, officer or not. These are just examples and are not the only possible violations. The officers have a final say on any action made by a member or officer that can be considered a violation and will be discussed at the next officer meeting. 1. Inappropriate conduct towards any member. 2. Not following the proper procedures. 3. Not acting professional during an investigation. 4. Leaving the group or wandering off alone during an investigation. 5. Using the organizations name without consent from the President. 6. Failing to keep up the proper GPA. 7. Assuming control without the required authority. 8. Not taking responsibility for your actions. 9. Causing unnecessary drama within the organization. 10. Not respecting anothers view on the paranormal. 11. Any action not listed that would cause the organization to be looked down upon. 12. Taking organization matters to other organizations without the consent of the President. Violating any or all of the above will be subject to review by all other officers during the next officer meeting. Upon review, the person in question is subject to the ruling of the other officers as defined by this governing document. Article VIII. Frequency of meetings E.P.I.C will meet at least once a week and no more than 7 times a week at the discretion of the officers. Article IX. Dues of the organization All members will be required to pay $20 their first semester and $10 for every returning semester until decided upon otherwise. The money will be collected during the scheduled meetings by the treasurer and put into the organizations bank account no later than one week after the member has paid. All finances used by the organization will be announced to the group during the scheduled meetings and voted upon when required.

Article X. Procedures for decision making Should a decision need to be made that is not assigned to be decided upon by the officers, a simple majority vote of all dues paid members will decide the outcome under the supervision of the officers. Article XI. Selection of the Staff Advisor The staff advisor for E.P.I.C will be Professor Craig Hanks. In the instance that a new advisor must be selected, the officers will make the appropriate decision at the next officer meeting and the decision will be announced no later than the next regular meeting. Article XII. By-laws and amendments to the constitution Amendments to this constitution must be approved by a majority vote by the officers and reintroduced to the organization as soon as possible followed by all members signing the new constitution in agreement. Unless an amendment is made, this constitution will not be changed from one year to the next. Article XIV. Creation and Stability Because E.P.I.C is a new organization at Texas State University, the founders Cassandra Neve, Taylor Moss, and Tracy Brand will reside in office for a consecutive of at least two academic years beginning in fall of 2011 in order to maintain the stability of the new club. If this club fails at any point, all assets will be disbursed to a charity that the organization will decide upon majority vote.
