PSALM 11 5. Give glory to God. (Seed thoughts. V 1. ADORATION. " But unto Your name, give glory.

" Not to man with all his failings and transgressions but to God Himself be all honour and glory. PSALM 71 v 22-24 ; I will also praise You with the psaltery , even Your truth. 0 my God, unto You will I sing with the harp, 0 You Holy One of Israel, my lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing to You and my soul which You have redeemed.. My tongue also shall talk of Your righteousness all the day long, for they are confounded for they are brought to shame that seek my hurt.. PSALM 35 v 27-28 ; Let them shout for joy and be glad that favour my righteous cause yes let them say continually, let the Lord be magnified, which has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant. And my tongue shall speak of Your righteousness all the day long. PSALM II 6 v 1-2 ; I love the Lord because He has heard my voice, and my supplications. Because He has inclined His ear unto me, therefore will I call upon Him as long as I live.. When we consider what God has done in creating the earth and the heavens, peopled the earth and seeks to show the nations His love, mercy and forgiveness, should we not be over awed at such power and majesty. ? He offers us eternal through Jesus Christ, to be presented to Him in heaven and then return to earth with Jesus to rule in the name of Christ. V 2. REACTIONS. " Where is now their God. ? " The heathen have for centuries mocked the Christian religion and persecuted the Christians.. God appeared to Adam and Eve, Cain, Enoch, Abraham, Moses and many others and spoke with them.. But God had not been seen for a long time and the scorners were saying, Where is your God ? King David could say with great joy, our God is alive and well, and we worship and adore Mm. I KINGS 8 v 3 9 ; Then hear You in heaven, Your dwelling place and forgive and do, and give to every man according to his ways , whose heart you know ( For you, even You only know the hearts of all the children of men.) JOHN 20 v 24 v 28 ; But Thomas, one of the twelve called didymus, was not with them when Jesus came. The other disciples therefore said to him, We have seen the Lord. But he said to them, Except I shall see in His hands the prints of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into His side, I will not believe. And after eight days again His disciples were within and Thomas was with them. Then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. Then said He to Thomas, Reach hither your finger and behold my hands, and thrust it into my side, and be not faithless but believing. And Thomas said, My Lord and my God. GALATIANS 6 v 7-8 ; Be not deceived, God is not mocked, for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that sows to the flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption, but he that sows to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. V 3. EXPLANATION. " Our God is in the heavens." The Scriptures assure us that God is in Heaven, His dwellingplace and watches over us and keeps records of our activities ACTS 7 v 55-56 , But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up steadfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God. And said, Behold I see the heavens opened and the Son of man standing at the right hand of God. We shall all see God and the mockers will be silenced. JOHN 5 v 28-29 ; Marvel not at this for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear His voice and shall come forth, they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life, and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation. I THESSALONIANS 4 v 14 ; For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with Him. So God is truly in heaven and at a future date every eye shall see him. V 4. SEPARATION; " Their idols are silver and gold," The psalmist pauses here to give a thought to the

useless worship of the heathen and Jews who have drawn away from God and sought other things to worship. EXODUS 32 v 1, 3-4, 8, And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves unto Aaron, and said to him, Up make us gods which shall go before us, for as for this Moses the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we dont know what has become of him. And all the people broke of the golden earrings which were in their ears and brought them to Aaron. So the high priest made a golden calf for the people to worship and God's anger came down upon the Israelites. Read this story, it should interest you greatly Finally Moses gave command to the Levites to put to death the offender. And the children of Levi did according to the word of Moses, and there fell of the people that day, about three thousand men. There are numerous accounts in the Scriptures where God punished the sinners with instant death. So the Scriptures go on to explain more about the apostates and idol worshippers. V 5, CONDEMNATION; " They have mouths but they speak not " There is no witness in their hearts that they love God, rather they would worship Idols of various materials They will get no answers from wood and stone . ROMANS I v 28-32. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, , to do those things which are not convenient Who knowing the judgement of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them. God always has the last say for these heathen worshippers and those who reject Ms purpose for them. They will be cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, MATTHEW 13 v 49-50 ; So shall it be at the end of the world, the angels shall come and sever the wicked from among the just. And shall cast them into the furnace of fire, there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth, If they have mouths but do not speak then God is certainly not adored and worshipped.. These ungodly people will not give God the honour and glory due to Him .... V 6. REJECTION They have ears but they hear not. ROMANS I v 28, v32 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient, V32 ; Who knowing the judgement of God , that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same but have pleasure in them that do them. MATTHEW 13 v 14-15, v 41-42 ; And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which said, By hearing you shall hear, and shall not understand, And seeing you shall not perceive. For this people's heart is waxed gross and their ears are dull of hearing and their eyes they have closed, lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears and should understand with their heart and should be converted and I should heal them.. v 41-42 ; The Son of man shall send forth His angels , and they shall gather out of His kingdom all things that offend and them which do iniquity. And shall cast them into a furnace of fire, there shall be walling and gnashing of teeth. There are multitudes who will not listen to the word of God and are willing to commit transgressions, knowing that the wrath of God will descend upon them. They are content to be involved in the sins of Romans I v 25-32 ; REVELATION 20 v 12-15 ; 21 v8 ; And I saw the dead, small and great stand before God, and the books were opened , and another book was opened which is the book of life. And the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them, and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire . This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. V 7. ABOMINATION. " They have hands but they handle not. " Idols are an abomination to God, who will destroy them and the people who worship them shall not enter into the kingdom of God.

GENESIS 19 v 1-26 The inhabitants of Sodom and Gomorrah were committing evil in God's sight and He sent two angels to warn Lot to take his family out of Sodom because God as going to destroy it, Finally the angels were able to get Lot out of the city before God destroyed it with fire and brimstone. Such are the wages of those who deliberately sin against God. I John I v 1-4 ; That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon and our hands have handled of the word of life. For the life was manifested and we have seen it, and bear witness and show unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father and was manifested unto us. That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you that you also may have fellowship with us, and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. And these things write we unto you that your joy may be full. What a comparison, the ungodly banished from the presence of God for ever and the righteous to have eternal life with God and Jesus Christ. V 8. CULMINATION;; " They that make them are like unto them." On many occasions the Israelites lived among the heathen nations, It was not long before the Israelites were worshipping the foreign gods and forgetting to obey God's statutes. Time and again God punished those who sinned against Mm. NUMBERS 25 v 1-5. v 9 ; And Israel abode in Shittirn, and the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab.. And they called the people unto the sacrifices of their gods and the people did eat and bowed down to their gods. And Israel joined himself to Baalpeor and the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel. And the Lord said to Moses, Take all the heads of the people and hang them up before the Lord, against the sun, that the fierce anger of the Lord may be turned away from Israel. And Moses said to the judges of Israel, Slay you every one his men that were joined unto Baalpeor, V 9 ; And those that died in the plague were twenty and four thousand. REVELATION 21 v 8, ISAIAH 66 v 23-24 -5 Rejecting the commandments of God and worshipping idols brings about His wrath and the culmination of their sins leads to eternal torments in the lake of fire and brimstone.. Let us make sure that we keep our salvation sure and worship God. V 9. EXHORTATION. " 0 IsraeL trust in the Lord.. " PSALM 100 v 4-5 ; Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise. Be thankful unto Mm and bless His name. For the Lord is good, His mercy is everlasting and His truth endures to all generations. PSALM 107 v 31-32 ; 0 that men would praise the Lord for Ms goodness and for Ms wonderful works to the children of men. Let them exalt Mm also in the congregation of the people and praise Him in the assembly of the elders, Psalm II 7 v 1-2 ; 0 praise the Lord all you nations, praise Him all you people. For His merciful kindness is great towards us, and the truth of the Lord endures for ever. PSALM 145 v 1-5 ; I will extol You my God 0 King, and I will bless Your name for ever and ever. Every day will I bless You, and I will praise Your name for ever and ever. Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised and His greatness is unsearchable. One generation shall praise Your works to another and shall declare Your mighty acts. I will speak of the glorious honour of Your majesty. The person who keeps God in the centre of his life and regularly worships Him will be able to stand firm in the teachings of Jesus Christ and receive a Christians reward in heaven. V IO, DECLARATION. " Trust in the Lord, He is their help and their shield." What better advice than from a man who has experienced the mercies and blessings of God.. King David himself His psalms are full of exhortations and praise for his God. . PSALM 91 v 1-4 ; He that dwells in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in Him will I trust, Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler. and from the noisesome pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers and under His wings shall you trust, His truth shall be your shield and buckler.

PSALM 24 v 3-5 ; Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord or who shall stand in His holy place ? He that has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul unto vanity nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive the blessing from the Lord, and righteousness from the God of his salvation. PSALM 31 v 19-21 ; 0 how great is Your goodness which You have laid up for them that fear You. which You have wrought for them that trust in You before the sons of men. You shall hide them in the secret of Your presence from the pride of man You shall keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues. Blessed be the Lord for He has shown me His marvellous kindness in a strong city.. May our faith always be strong enough to overcome the tempters who seek to make us join their ranks.. V II. CONFIRMATION You that fear the Lord, trust in the Lord.. PSALM 25 v 8-10. Good and upright is the Lord, therefore will He teach sinners in the way. The Lord is their strength and He is the saving strength of His anointed. PSALM 37 v 3-5 ; Trust in the Lord and do good, so shall you dwell in the land and verily you shall be fed. Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way unto the Lord, trust also in Him and He shall bring it to pass, I PETER I v 3-7 ; Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again unto a lively hope, by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.. To an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that fades not away, re served in heaven for you. Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation, ready to be revealed in the last time. The apostles had the same great faith that the old testament saints had. The apostle Paul was willing to confirm it all and wrote it down for posterity. ROMANS I v 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation, to everyone that believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. V 12 ; REALISATION. " He will bless us. " What joy comes to the new convert when he tastes of the first few blessings from God. Three times in the above three verses we are exhorted to trust in God, and what a reward we receive for our faith. PSALM 30 v 1-4.. I will extol You 0 Lord, for You have lifted me up have not made my foes to rejoice over me, 0 Lord my God, I cried unto You and You have healed me. 0 Lord You have brought up my soul from the grave, You have kept me alive that I should not go down to the pit, Sing unto the Lord, 0 you saints of His, and give thanks at the remembrance of His holiness. It does not take us long to appreciate the fact that our God will forgive the sins of a truly repentant person, grant him blessings for faithfulness and the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the Scriptures. PSALM 34 v 15-18, v22 ; The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and His ears are open to their cry. The face of the Lord is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the face of the earth. The righteous cry and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart, and saves such as be of a contrite spirit. The Lord redeems the soul of His servants and none of them that trust in Mm shall be desolate.. V 13, ANTICIPATION " He will bless them that fear the Lord. I CORINTHIANS 15 v 51-54 ; Behold I show you a mystery, we shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed. In a moment, in the twinkling of an eyes, at the last trump, for the trumpet shall sound and the dead shall be raise incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. 0 death, where is your sting, 0 grave where is your victory.? Not only are we redeemed by the shed blood of Jesus but we anticipate, look forward, to the coming rapture

of Christ's church taking the saints to heaven until the tribulation period is over. PSALM 61 v 1-3 ; Hear my cry 0 God, attend unto my prayer,. From the end of the earth will I cry unto You, When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the Rock that is higher than I.. For You have been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy. V 14. That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. V 17. DAMNATION. " The dead praise not the Lord neither any that go down into silence." The souls of those people who go down into hell will never praise God there. neither did they praise Mm while alive.
