Case-Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH., 1974-78, D.D.S. Three Specific Areas you'd like to change, address, improve or further research and how specifically would you go about it: One: City Economic programs: In any City, you'll find that approximately 70% of the news jobs are created by small businesses. This is area where a thorough reveiw of Mentor's economic program is needed. It's important to begin showcasing Mentor's interest in providing economic opportunity to small employers who make investment in both retaining and creating new jobs. Especially in the area of BioTech and emerging industries that have great potential for future job growth. I am a member of Mentors Economic Committee and continue discussion with the Director of Mentor's Economic department to promote Mentor. Specific items: (A), broadening our market exposure through various technical publications. ( B ), scheduled meetings with both local , regional and national businesses. ( C), Since the Economic Development department is the gateway to the City's commerce, I have successfully worked to increase the advertising budget from a low of $5,000 a year to $25,000. The result is proving successful as evidenced by by business inquires. (D), one of the more recent discussions ( just last week ) was the entry into marketing advertisement towards the 20's age group to attract and retain more of that demographic population. A key objective of this approach is to encourage the return of our college students to Mentor as the best place to start-up a business.

Two: Quality of Life , Neighborhoods Throughout Mentor, there are many neighborhoods with a variety of housing stocks. A priorty is to always provide and assure the families that live in those neighborhoods with the highest level of City services. Each year during the Fall, Council meets and discusses our Capital improvement and Operating budgets. Both of these budgets require careful review on each and every item. Specifically andTo further improve on both these budgets, I would recommend earlier work sessions take place on both these important areas rather than midFall. Contained in these two budgets is every aspect of managing the City of Mentor. Whether it be Police and Fire Protection, roadways, parks and recreation to staffing of each and every department, you'll find it in these budgets. Earlier meetings would be beneficial for both the Council and The Administration to make the necessary adjustments and planning to improve Mentor and continue as one of America's Best One Hundred City's in which to Live. Three: Biweekly Council President's Report: There are two very important offices found in the day to day operations of the City. One being The City Manager and the other, The Council President. In the case of The City Manager, Council receives a weekly report - memo from The Manager outlining the weeks activity. Since and often activity also takes place within the Council Presidents office - a report on important actions would greatly benefit Council. Specifically, I encourage and request keeping Council informed by and from the President of Council which would be greatly appreciated.

In particular, it would provide a heads-up on developing issues and challenges that are coming before City Council. Thereby, all of Council would be best served and better prepared to manage the many issues that arise from time to time. Whether for past accomplishments or future goals, why should voters elect you? One: A combination of my experience, qualifications and first hand contact with the many residents of Ward 4 lends great support to re-electing me as Ward 4 Councilman. During course of any period of time and for 33 years as a Dental provider in Ward 4 I am fortunate to have the day to day opportunity to speak with many residents. I get to directly hear from the residents as to what issues, concerns and/or suggestions they may have in mind. The residents of Ward 4 have come to know that I am always available to hear from them. My history as Ward 4 Councilman includes always being accessible to the residents and responsive to their community needs. I thoroughly understand the responsibility as Councilman and fully respect the residents - voters of Ward 4. Throughout my term as Councilman I have always included the input from the community to reach the most beneficial decisions for Ward 4 and its many fine neighborhoods. Two: As a Dental provider and business entrepreneur, I have an understanding of what it takes to provide both services, employment and investment in Mentor. Of great importance to me is taking care of my staff as I would my family. To continue creating fair economic opportunities for families to is high on my priority list.

Three: My record on Council shows that I thoroughly research the many legislative items that come before me to make the best, fair and right judgements. Decisions that are backed up by facts gatered from information shared in discussions with the Community, The City Manager and Administration.
