RESPECT LIFE MONTH

Did you know that October is Respect Life Month? Please take some time this month to pray for those members of our society whose lives are endangered: the unborn, the terminally ill, the elderly, the handicapped, and those on death row. The Catholic Church teaches that ALL life is sacred and should be protected, from natural conception to natural death. Please take some time this month to stop and pray for these vulnerable groups as well as their caregivers and health care providers. The St. Andrew Respect Life Ministry will have an information table set up in the Narthex after all masses this weekend. We encourage you to stop by and look at our brochures and prayer cards, which address a number of pro-life issues, including abortion, euthanasia, embryonic stem cell research, the death penalty, modern reproductive technology, contraception versus natural family planning, and caring for the handicapped, terminally ill and elderly. Another way you could further the cause for life is to participate in the 40 Days for Life campaign. 40 Days for Life is one of the largest and longest coordinated efforts, implemented through hundreds of cities in the nation, to peacefully end abortion. It consists of three main components: fervent prayer and fasting; peaceful public witness outside abortion clinics, and positive public outreach. For more information on how you can participate, please stop by our table after mass or visit their website, www.40daysforlife.com/ Marietta.

WORLD PRIEST DAY

Help us acknowledge the wonderful loving service our priests provide for us as they work in Gods service. Sunday, October 30th is World Priest Day. What might you do to ensure your priest knows your appreciation for all he does for you and his parish? A simple thank you note from you and/or a hand made card from your children via the mail or through your collection basket would certainly brighten his day. Sharing the gift of your time with him is even better or some chocolate!! His decision, to follow Gods call as a Spouse to His Church, provides us with a path to greater joy on earth and eventual salvation in heaven. Whens the last time you told him you love him? Dont allow October 30th to pass by without your priest knowing you appreciate the good he provides to you.
