1.0 Introduction Meaning of Open Source Software (OSS)
Open source software (OSS) is generaly defined as the computer software for the source code and certain other rights is normally reserved for copyright holders that are provided under a software license that meets the Open Source Definition or that is in the public domain. This permits users to use, change and also improve the software and toredistribute it in modified or unmodified forms. Meaning of Hardware Hardware is refers to the physical artifacts of a technology or physical components of a computer system in form of computer hardware. A computer's hardware consists the physical components that necessary to operate and interact with a computer. Meaning of Software Software is the various kinds of program that used to operate computers and related devices. S o f t w a r e i s a l w a y s s p l i t into application software which is a programs that do work users that are directly interested in and system software that includes operating systems and any program that supports the application software.

2.0 The Latest Open Source Operating System (OS) 2.1 Meaning of Open Source OS
Open Source Operating System means a programme computer that is free to use,change and improve the software and also to redistribute it in the modified or the unmodified forms. Operating systems usually perform the basic tasks such as for recognizing the input from the keyboard, sending output to the display screen, keeping track of file sand it is also a directories on the disk, and also controlling the peripheral devices such as disk drives and printers.

Kubuntu Linux It is a user friendly operating system based on KDE, the K Desktop Environment. It was with a predictable 6 month release cycle and the part of the Ubuntu project. Kubuntu is the GNU/Linux distribution for everyone that improved the desktop, to updated applications and also increased usability features that are just a few of the surprises with this latest released on 8 June 2011. Fedora Linux The Fedora Linux has been the best place to track the leading edge of Linux and Open Source Software since its first version in 2003. The Fedora was released the latest of its project in May 2010. ALinux-based operating system is the showcases of the latest in free and open source software. It is always free f o r a v e r y o n e t o u s e , m o d i f y a n d a l s o t o distribute. It is built by the people across the globe who work together as a community that is called the Fedora Project. The Fedora Project is open for everybody and anyone is welcomed to join.

3.0 The Latest Open Source Application Software 3.1 Meaning of Open Source Application Software
Open Source Application Software which is also called as the end-user programs includes the database programs, wordp r o c e s s o r s a n d a l s o t h e s p r e a d s h e e t s . I t i s free to use, change, and improve the software, and also to redistribute it in t h e modified or the unmodified forms.

Open Office An open office is a office application set that are use for word processing, spreadsheet manipulation, picture drawing and data baseaccess which are compatible with all other major office application sets such as Office and available for Windows andMac as well as Linux and other UNIX systems. The latest of Open Office were distributed in November in 2009. The latest Open Office was capable to support over 110 languages. Squirrel Mail The latest of Squirrel mail was released on July 2009 which is an email application that are for reading and writing email through a web client program for supporting IMAP and SMTP and it is also available for Windows and Macas well as Linux and other UNIX systems.

5.0 Pervasive Computing 5.1 Meaning of pervasive computing


Also called ubiquitous computing, pervasive computing is the result of computer technology advancing at exponential speeds which is a trend toward all man-made and some natural products having hardware andsoftware. Pervasive computing goes beyond the realm of personal computers. It is the idea that almost any device, from clothing to tools, to the appliances, to the cars to homes to the human body and to your coffee mug. It can be imbedded with chips to connect the device to an infinite network of other d e v i c e s . T h e g o a l o f p e r v a s i v e c o m p u t i n g i s t o c o m b i n e s c u r r e n t n e t w o r k t e c h n o l o g i e s w i t h w i r e l e s s computing, voice recognition, Internet capability and artificial intelligence. It is also used to create an environment where the connectivity of devices is embedded in such a way that the connectivity is unobtrusive and always available.

5.2 Examples of pervasive computing


Smartphone A smartphone is a mobile phone offering advanced capabilities, usually with the PClike functionality. There is no industry standard definition of a smartphone. For some people, a smartphone means a phone that runs complete operating system software which are providing a standardized interface and platform for application developers. In other words, it is a miniature computer that has phone capability. Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) A personal digital assistant (PDA) is generaly means a handheld of computer that is also known as a palmtop computer. Newer PDAs is also have both of the color screens and audio capabilities, which are enabling them to be used as the mobile phones, web browsers, or portable media players. Many PDAs can access the Internet via Wi-Fi, or Wireless Wide-AreaNetworks (WWANs).

Open source can be use by everyone and it is also free to use. It can be use anytime and anywhere without certain condition and other.
