The Sense of Wonder: Visions of Sustainability Campus Sustainability Fest 2011 The University of Michigan-Dearborn

Eligibility & Presentation Requirements


Anything can be submitted, we're confident that everything relates to sustainability with respect to topics of people, planet, and profit. We're accepting submissions from the public--all ages! This years exhibit focuses on themes of "Unity and Water" under the broader concept of sustainability. However, there are three conditions we encourage artists to consider for their pieces: 1) Its subject creatively communicates to the audience without malicious intent 2) The piece is ready for presentation 3) The piece is easily set up or removed by one person within reasonable time We welcome large pieces or unorthodox mediums, but special installation needs must be discussed in advance. Contact the Lyceum at: During the registration period until the day of the showing, limited overnight storage space is available. Works left after October 21st are at the artists risk.

Publication

The Lyceum and the Student Environmental Association and at the University of MichiganDearborn reserve the right to photograph and reproduce all entries accepted into the exhibition regardless of copyright. Such reproductions will be used for promotional and/or educational purposes only and given due credit where appropriate.

We'll do our best to handle your works with the greatest of care in a professional manner. Please know that your works will be displayed in a public place, and that we have a limited number of volunteers and space to help all of the artists participating in this event.

The Student Environmental Association (SEA)
seeks to make the social, economic, and ecological environment accessible and relevant to current and future students through quality events, re-creational activities, stewardship, civic engagement, and ultimately cultivating a more vibrant, sustainable community on and around campus. To achieve this we inform, educate, and empower students to acknowledge the greater community; engage their environment; develop a sense of wonder; and take informed, compassionate, sustainable action for social responsibility, economic prosperity, and ecological integrity. interested students who help create the journal and organize our events.

The University of MichiganDearborn is an interactive, student-centered institution committed to excellence in teaching and learning. The Sense of Wonder Exhibition We aim to cultivate social sustainability through this annual exhibition and the festival as a whole. Social sustainability concerns issues of equityfor example, giving everyone fair opportunity and access to participation and enrichment. We believe this is also an opportunity to celebrate the parallels between natural and human creation by cultivating The Sense of Wonder, a phrase coined by the great author and citizen of the world, Rachel Carson. Campus Sustainability Fest The University of MichiganDearborn's Student Environmental Association and EverGreen Team are proud to present the fifth Annual Campus Sustainability Day and third Campus Sustainability Fest at U of M-Dearborn. Topics of people, planet, and profit are everywhere you go. Find out how theyre relevant to your campus and community, and how you can make a difference during Sustainability Fest 2011 Mon Oct. 17th-Fri Oct. 21st at U of MDearborn. Lyceum

is the University of MichiganDearborn's literary and fine arts journal. We publish a journal in the Fall and Winter semesters, and host events promoting arts and culture throughout the year. Lyceum is named after the educational institution of ancient Greece, a locus of creative intellectual thought and talent. Our modern Lyceum, as a journal and organization, operates as the ambassador of arts and culture to the University of MichiganDearborn campus and community. We not only publish our journal, but host art and writing contests, invite guest speakers involved in the creative arts, and help writers and artists on our campus express themselves and find new creative opportunities. Lyceum is managed by an editorial board comprised of UM-Dearborn students. We are also staffed by
