have dinner
with Bob and Deanna at the Musky on New Year's eve. We

will be
bringing the wagons in a circle. Incidentally, I asked
Bill Allen to
hook up a generator to our chalet for Y2K --JUST UI CASE!

Bill: Bob has been filing us in on all the help you've given him on
our project. Catherine was realiy delighted to hear about the Jacuzzi,
the new colors, and all that has been done. The appraisal has come
in-we will be putting a mortgage on the place to pay the freight. The
guy from the bank said he has never seen such a great change in a
sali chalet. It's all the work you guys have done. And, we've never
worked with a man so easy to get along with as Rocky. Plus, everyone
who's seen the place wants to know who has done the things he's done.
I've got to tell you that in the long haul, I can live and be happy
anywhere as long as I'm free to do my thing. But, you know the
ladies-it takes a place they want everyone to know if theirs, know
what I mean. CAS was never that happy with the Chalet-to me it was a
place to get away, chop wood, read, and think. But, as the years
rolled by and the kids had more kids and the place got smaller and
smaller with so may peopIes skils and not enough room for them to
stay over when we were there, etc., CAB thought we ought to sell it.
Lily screamed and I canceled that idea. It is Lily's real home and it
is still the place I feel more comfortable in than anywhere else. I've
never owned any other place-always had the bank into each place too
far. This time, we can pay this one oft quickly and we'll have a place
now where family and friends can just stay the night if the weather'r
bad or the wine has been too plentiful.
You and Bob have been the spark plugs and we are really pleased
with all you have done, hope to see you and the chalet soon. best teds

Bob: I'll be glad to have Catherine back here. The cat is starting to
talk back to me. And, I've returned to the House late each night to
find I had to fix dinner-probably good for me as I think I've lost a
few pounds "batching it." I think the idea that she can decorate, and
furnish new rooms and get some of my stuff out of her way has
invigorated my roommate. I, too, as you know, am anxious to have some
room where I can tinker without having to pick it up and get it out of
sight every time someone visits. The peach of mind from this new
addition is something new. I can't thank you enough I'm sure you have

good morning senator, your house is in the air and hopefully we will have the
framing package down this week, my hold-up at the moment is the footing,
blockwork and the framing package, dick miller came by last night and we went
over to inspect the house and discuss the concrete work, hopefully he can
get started today. please tell catherine that his offer of rock siding is not
much of a deal ($20 per square foot). i intend to pin him down on the cost of
the garage pad also, we need a four inch thick pad and i want to be sure he
and ± are on the same wavelength when he says cheap. i'm kinda like the
jewish shoe store owner who chased the shoe thief for a couple of blocks,
gave up the chase and yelled " run, you bastard, you got em for cost
anyway". thanks for calling monday night, sorry i missed your call. i hope
the sound was bad and you don't have a cold, quite a few people here in
girdwood have something very much like the flu. i intend to get a shot. as
soon as it is available, well, i'll keep you posted. my beet, bob

I went through expenditures for 1999 in order to get a better picture of where your money
is going! In some cases, I've added together a few yearly services (such as gutters cleaned,
termite contract and pest control) and divided by 12 to get a monthly cost. This is an estimate
and I tried to include everything I could think of.
