In 1995 the practice was formed by Stephen Oppermann,


Architect and Colm Horan, Interior Designer in 1995. Today, the
practice has 42 full-time staff with full “computer aided” design
and drafting facilities.

10,000 sq. ft. underground spa facility with glass pavillion at upper level< extension to
leisure centre andnew spa bedroom block set in bamboo courtyard. Completion: July
2006. Value: €12m.

spa facility @ maryborough hotel

the spa facility at the Park Hotel Kenmare offers an experience over and above the rest.
Facilities include outdoor vitality pool with stunning views over the estuary, relaxation
areas (indoor and outdoor) taking full advantage of the forest type setting. VIP treatment
rooms with outdoor hot tubsa in woodland and water features throughout the facility.
Completed December 2003. Approx cost €4m.

spa facility @ kenmare

joels restaurant on the naas road, dublin is the largest restaurant in the country seating
400 diners. It is also one of the largest expanse of structural glazing at over 100 feet.
The restaurant is arranged on a number of levels with a feature display kitchen. Air
conditioned throughout it was completed during a 10 week period in 1997 – value €2m.

This project involved the entire the refurbishment of an existing office


building, involving raised floors, new ceilings, complete new services and
new finishes, while 440 staff stayed in occupation. The project was
completed in 10 months at a cost of €10m. The 112,000 sq. ft. project
was carried out under strict time limits and was completed in 1997.

fitout of office environment within existing I.F.S.C. building. The
environmental design required by the client was to portray Hannover Re
as a progressive employer to attract first class employees so as to offer
their Clients a professional cutting edge service within the aggressive
insurance market. OA achieved this by way of using modern materials in
innovative and functional design.

This project is located on the outskirts of Dundalk Town. It involved a
fitout of 20,000 sq. ft. of shell and core building to house Irish Life’s help
desk. Staff protection was an issue and oppermann associate’s brief was
to create an attractive, efficient, working environment but not just another
fitou. Oppermann’s approach to this project has resulted in a
sophistocated and relaxed environment, very different from the stereo
typical helpdesk facility. The project, which cost €2.5m was turned around
in four months and completed in 2003.

a new building development – retail on ground floor, six storeys of offices


with two residential storeys at high level. 100% site coverage and
basement car parking.

a new 200,000 sq. ft. shopping centre a Ivans Cross, Ennis Road,
Limerick. Dunnes Stores are the anchor tenant occupying 95,000 sq. ft.
There is a further 20 shop units in the scheme, a medical centre,
restaurant, library and drive-thru’ restaurant. 1415 car parking spaces are
provided – 70% of whicih are underneath the main building. Customers
access the shopping mall via travelators and lifts. Complete. Cost
€30million.

units. The development also includes basement car parking and a new

Mixed use development which includes 10 spacious duplex apartements,


7,450 sq. ft. of retail space with associated offices and a 4,760 sq. ft.
basement car park. Completed in November 2003. Approx cost €3.2m.

residential development involving 200 one, two and three bedroomed


units. The development also includes basement car parking and a new
boulevard which splits the site. Due for completion: October 2006. Value:

Featured in gandon publication “housing – the new density”. Three storey


houses with apartments – 53 units in total. Completed summer 2004.

This project involved a range of specialist rooms and normal classrooms


including TV studio, multipurpose hall, video editing suites, recording studios. A
big plus for the local area both in terms of cleaning up backwater site and
providing state of the art facilities. Completed September 2003. Approx cost
€7m.

O2 being a very progressive telecom’s plc are probably one of the most progressive
retailers in Ireland. All their design decisions are driven by the products and services
they offer which are the most up to date technologically advanced in their field. OA are
constantly working and drwing the design concepts forwad with O2 retail and are now
working on the 5th generation stores to be launched early 2004.

National lighting, nangor road

the project, which incorporates interior features such as ash timber, tiles,
stainless steel and laminate, was designed to maximise the contained area in
which it was located. The principal difficulty was to orientate the kiosk in relation
to the main footfall within the confines of a spiral staircase area. Of particular
note is the high visual impact environment that was designed specifically to bring
the product to the forefront to in turn attract custom. Approx Cost € m.
Completed May 2003.

oppermann associates implemented a new design concept for Marathon Sports to


incorporate all their specialised product groups “Nike” etc. within an extended refurbished
premises over two floors. All retail design concepts are achieved by incorporating the
best of retail leisure design to portray Marathon Sports as one of Irelands leading
sportswear retailer.
