Katalyst is a pro-poor market development project. It is implemented under the Ministry of Commerce (MOC) of the Government of Bangladesh by Swisscontact and GIZ International Services. The project is jointly funded by SDC, DFID, CIDA and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Gender and Environmentally and Socially Responsible Business (ESRB&G) are two prominent cross-cutting themes that have been addressed by Katalyst throughout economic sectors. ESRB&G Unit of Katalyst is looking for a dynamic, independent, and hardworking professional who has the vision to contribute to the economic growth of Bangladesh.

Position: Business Consultant/Senior Business Consultant

Major Responsibilities:

The position is based in Dhaka but requires extensive field visits. The incumbent would need to asses and analyze selected sectors and cross-sectors to identify gender and environmental growth opportunities and underlying problems impeding the growth. The role of the incumbent requires working in a team to develop and implement innovative strategies that ensure mainstreaming gender opportunities and tackle the underlying problems for an environmentally and socially responsible business to achieve sustainable growth of the sectors. The position demands building and maintaining strong partnership and network with private and public sector stakeholders for implementation of the interventions. Capture and document the impact of activities implemented.

Educational Requirements

Graduate/post graduate in Business, Economics or Development Studies from a well reputed university.

Work Experience and Job requirements

1 year of work experience in private sector development project/ private sector is preferred. A sharp thinker having strong analytical skills and creative ingenuity. Familiarity with quantitative and qualitative research methods. Good understanding of how different business sectors/ rural and urban value chains operate in the local context. Experience in working with agents and contractors and monitoring their performance. Good communication and negotiation skills (both in English and Bangla). Good computer skills. Willing to travel extensively within and outside country. Effective and committed team player. Think out of the box and figure out solutions to complex problems.
