Kaal Sarp Dosh is all about faulty planetary position, with a snake like formation, found in the persons natal birth chart. In a dosha like this, the planetary positions are such that Rahu (head of the snake) and ketu (tail of the snake) happen to fall on the beginning and end of the formation, respectively. There are many other ways by which Kaal Sarp Yoga can be formed, the moon in the eight house of the natal chart being one of the ways. The Pooja: The Rahu ketu Pooja lasts for 30-40 minutes, and it is always better to get the pooja performed during Rahukalam, preferably on Saturdays. Unlike other pooja that consist of hawan or homa (fire ceremony), the RahuKetu Nivran Pooja is all done by chanting mantras for two metallic snake strips that represent Rahu and Ketu. Flowers and vermillion are sprinkled or proffered to the rahu-ketu representing metals while the mantra is cantillated to complete the whole puja routine. Mantra recitations are also done in favour of ones gotra, caste and janamnakshtra . The person, in whose name the puja is offered, is required to discard their clothes and take bath after the pooja. The act is symbolic of doing away with the ill effects. Note: It is suggested and advised to plan your journey exclusively if going for pooja as it takes fair amount of time for the completion of the same. SriKalahasti temple is located 36 km away from Tirupathi in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradhesh, India. The inner temple is constructed around 5th century and the outer temple was constructed in the 12th Century. In the outer temple, as soon as you enter the temple gates (after the shops)on your left you will see the old idol of SriGnanaprasunambika Devi (the original one) which was placed outside due to some reasons.....Still lot of people pray to it.... By the way, do not forget to see the Pathala Ganapathi who is associated with the old Sivalingam beneath the temple. You cannot see the Old SivaLingam (related to the old Story of SriKalaHasti) beneath the temple but you can imagine it (and the real story) when you see the Lord Ganapathi. Abhishekam Morning: 7:30 am, 9:30 am, 10: 30am Evening: 5:30 pm everyday Fridays: 4:30 onwards The Abhishekams are performed to Lord Kalahasteeswara and Goddess Gnana Prasunambika four times a day. The Abhishekam: A ritual and part of daily prayers, Abhishekams (bathing the Lingam) are performed to Lord Kalahasteesvara. The Abhishekam is done with Panchakarpura (camphor mixed with water, honey, milk, camphor and Panchamruta) along with chanting of the mantra, which signifies the act cleansing and singing melodious hymns of praises to the Lord. However, the main Lingam is not touched by any human hands and all the prayers and Panchkarpura Abhisheka are offered to the bronze idol called as Utsavamurty. Pilgrims who visit the temple can participate in the Abhishekam that are performed by priests belonging to Bhardwaja Gotra of Apsthmaba Sutra who take up the approved Diksha, a religious initiation, in the temple. During the Abhishekam, flowers, sandal paste and scared threads are offered to the lord.
