creating an artificial vortex

a vortex is an energy center. a vortex differs from a chakra only in that

chakras are the internal energy centers of our body, while vortices are
external energy centers of the world around us. vortices can be natural, as
energy centers of the earth - the context in which they are most often thought
of. or vortices can be created - the magic circle and ther energy constructs
serve as synthetic vortices, amplifying our natural energies.

synthetic vortices can be used to help charge an object, to amplify the energy
of a candle burning or a ritual. normally, these techniques are reserved for
occasions when we really want to focus a lot of energy into what we are
doing, but some use them more often. how much, or even if you use this
technique is purely a matter of taste.

to create a simple vortex whose purpose is to amplify energy, you will need
a number of crystal points. these can be natural quartze crystal points, or
they can be other crystalline stones such as (citrine,or amethyst) which have
been cut to a crystal point shape. the points should be pointedat one end
only, you would not use double pointed crystals for this.

how many crystal points you use depends upon your purposes. use the chart
below to select the appropriate number of crystals from the numbers and
their purpose listed.

number chart

3 crystals luck, prosperity, success

4 crystals stability, strength, endurance
5 crystals communication, speed, increase
6 crystals peace, harmony, tranquility
7 crystals spirituality, insight, understanding

charging your crystals

take the crystal in your hand, do each one separately. imagine it surrounded
by a ball of yellow-white light which fills the stone. concentrate on
cleansing the stone of all negative or unfocused energy. then create a ball of
blue-white light around the stone, filling it with light. now bless the stone
and charge it to your purpose: tell the stone what you want it to do, and
concentrate strongly upon this. you may find it helpful to call forth the
stones spirit and address it that way.

creating your vortex

once you have charged your stones, you are ready to create your vortex. the
vortex can be set up around any object or person - you could even do a
whole magic circle if you wished, placing one crystal at each quarter. most
commonly though this sort of vortex is used to help charge a ritual item or
amulet, or set up around a candle to amplify a candle burning.

place the item to be amplified upon the altar. set up your crystals in a circle
around it, with their points all facing deosil - as if they were chasing one
another. now drawn down divine energy to fill the vortex and start it
moving: imagine the divine energy coming down as a thick column of blue-
white light. see it enter the crystals andbegin to flow deosil through the
crystal circle. imagine the column of light as a pipeline filling the crystals
with a limitless amount of energy, which enters them and flows deosil
through them. you have now created your vortex and may proceed to charge
the actual item at the center, or do your candle burning or other working.

taking down your vortex

the vortex will remain until you take it down. to do this you should first
remove the charged item, lest you dissipate the charge you have worked to
create. thank the stones and divine energy for their help. visualize the same
column of divine energy, still in place. now pull down through this column
a yellow-white light - let that light fill the vortex and swirl through it. then
let the image dissipate and the energy with it. take a moment to cleanse and
release all excess energy from yourself and the altar as well (the whole area)

take each crystal and run it under cold running water to further cleanse the
excess energy from it.

creating a vortex to charge an item

the above spell creates an artificial energy vortex with a deosil circle of
crystals. now we will examine other methods of creating artificial vortices
with crystals.

our first method is charging an item for use. this essentially makes the item
- for example an amulet or a ritual candle, into a battery which stores extra
energy for release at the appropriate time.

cleanse the item to be charged using whatever method you use and place the
item upon your altar, or ina place specially set aside for this purpose.

select the appropriate number of crystals. cleanse and charge each crystal
separately, placing them around the item but with their points facing
inwards, towards the item. call upon the divine energy to fill the vortex:
imagine the divine energy rushing from all around you, focused by the
crystals into the object being charged. as the divine energy fills the vortex,
imagine the item begin to fill with light, shining brightly.

now address the item being charged, and direct it to absorb and hold the
energy until called upon to release it. direct the item to absorb only as much
energy as it can hold, lest it be over charged and damaged. the vortex you
have created will remain until you take it down. you can leave it for a few
minutes or a few days. during this time it will continue to charge the item at
a steady pace until the item is full or until you take the vortex down.

to take the vortex down remove the charged item first. thankt he stones and
the divine energy for their help. visualize the vortex of energy still in place.
now pull down through the vortex a wave of yellow-white light, let that light
fill the vortex and swirl through it. then let the image dissipate and the
energy with it. take a moment to cleanse and release all excess energy from
yourself and the altar as well.

cleanse each crystal in cold running water to further release excess energy
from them.

dispersion of energy from a charged object

this technique is intended to assist int he gradual dispersion of energy from a

charged object - as for example the energy from a candle burning spell. as
the energy disperses, the spell takes affect. by dispersing gradually, a steady
flow of energy is maintained.

for this technique surround your object which has been charged for the
purupose with three, five or seven crystal points, also cleaned and charged
for the purupose as described above. the points of the crystals should point
outward away from the object. in this way they will conduct the energy
outward into the world.

unlike the method of charging an item, which is a spell in itself, this

technique is intended to assist another spell whose energy you wish to
disperse over a period of time. therefore once you have assembled the
crystals around the object, to the spell. then call upon the divine energy:
imagine the divine energy coming down upon the central object, then
radiating out through the crystals thus forming the vortex; charge the vortex
to carry the energy of the spell out into the world for a specific amount of
time, and visualize this happening.

when the specific amount of time you have indicated has expired, you must
dismantle the vortex. thank the stones and the divine energy for their help.
vicsualize the vortex of energy still in place and pull down through the
vortex a wave of yellow-white light - filling the vortex and disseminating
throught he crystals. then let the image dissipate and the energy with it.
take a moment to cleanse and release all excess energy from yourself and the
altar as well.

cleanse the crystals under cold running water to further release excess
energy from them.

this technique can also be used to bless an area: a temple for example, a
room, or a place of business, whose energies need to be carried out into the
world. to do this you would place the crystal points around the area to be
blessed. as above, you would created the vortex after the working: it might
be a specific ritual, as an earth healing ritual, or if there is not a specific
ritual but the ordinary activities of the place which are to be carried outward,
do a basic space blessing, then create the vortex.

the vortex should be set up for a specific period of time - usually a modest
period of a few days or weeks is best. if you wish to set up a more permanet
vortex, at a temple for example you should still create it for a specific time
period, and when that period has expired, cleanse the crytals and set the
vortex up again from scratch.
