Or I can feel honoured because the Lord has provided shelter for mind, body and soul
What today will be like is up to me
I get to choose what kind of day I will have!

THE BEST WE COULD DO
A man who had lived a life of selfish luxury died and went up to heaven.
An angel was sent to show him to his house. They passed many lovely
mansions, and each time the rich man thought: “This must be mine”.
But not so. They passed through the main street and arrived at the out-
skirts where the houses were very small. Finally they came to a miser-
able hut. “This is yours”, said the angel. “This is my house? There
must be a mistake”, the rich man exclaimed. “No”, the angel answered,
“there is no mistake”. This was the best we could do with the materials
you sent up.

Just Say Thank You!
A newly arrived soul in Heaven was met by St. Peter. The Saint toured the soul around
Heaven. Both of them walked side by side inside a large workroom filled with angels.
St. Peter stopped in front of the first section and said, “This is the Receiving Section.
Here all the petitions to God said in prayer are received.” The soul looked at the section,
and it was terribly busy with so many angels sorting out petitions written on voluminous pa-
per sheets from all the people of the world
They walked again and reached the second section and Peter told the soul, “This is the
Packaging and Delivery Section. Here, the graces and blessings the people asked for are
packed and delivered”. The soul saw how busy it was. There were so many angels work-
ing in that room, since so many blessings were being packed and delivered to earth. Finally
at the farthest corner of the room, the soul stopped at the last section. To his surprise, only
one angel stayed there, doing nothing.
“There is the Acknowledging Section”, Peter told the soul.
“How is it that there is no work here?”
“That’s the said thing”, Peter answered. “After the people receive the blessings, very
few send their acknowledgements.”
How does one acknowledge God’s blessings?”
“Simple, JUST SAY, THANK YOU”
Lesson: Acknowledging the blessings we have received would be the greatest thing we
could do in our life. It will not cost us much but what we need is only a grateful heart and a
humble disposition.

 I WILL MOVE THE ROCK
A man was sleeping at night when suddenly his room
was filled with light and the Saviour appeared. The
Lord told the man he had work for him to do, and
showed him a large rock in front of his cabin. The
Lord explained that the man was to push against the
rock with all his might.
This the man did, day after day. For many
years he toiled from sun up to sun down, his shoul-
ders set squarely against the cold, massive surface of
the unmoving rock, pushing with all his might. Each
night the man returned to his cabin sore and worn out,
feeling that his whole day had been spent in vain.
Seeing that the man was showing signs of discouragement Satan decided to
enter the picture by placing thoughts into the man’s mind such as: “You have been
pushing against that rock for a long time, and it hasn’t budged. Why kill yourself over
this? You are never going to move it.” Thus giving the man the impression that the
task was impossible and that he was a failure. These thoughts discouraged and dis-
heartened the man even more. “Why kill myself over this?” he thought, “I’ll just put in
my time, giving just the minimum effort and that will be good enough.”
One day he decided to take his troubled thoughts to the Lord. “Lord”, he
said, “I have laboured long and hard in your service, putting all my strength to do that
which you have asked. Yet after all this time, I have not moved that rock even by half
a millimeter. What is wrong? Why am I failing?”
To this the Lord responded compassionately, “My son, when I asked you to
serve me and you accepted, I told you that your task was to push against the rock
with all your strength. Never once did I mention to you that I expected you to move it.
Your task was to push. And now you come to me, with your strength completely
spent, thinking that you have failed. But, is that really true? Look at yourself. Your
arms are strong and muscled, your hands are calloused from constant pressure, and
your legs have grown much, and your abilities now surpass that which you used to
have. Yet you haven’t moved the rock. But your calling was to be obedient and to
push and to exercise your faith and trust in My wisdom. This you have done.
“Now, my son, I will move the rock.”
By all means, exercise the faith that moves mountains; but it is still God who
moves the mountain.
Actually what God wants is just simple obedience and faith in Him!
Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing oneself.

Sleep Soundly!
Should you find it hard to get to sleep tonight
Just remember the homeless family who has no bed to lie on
Should you find yourself stuck in traffic, don’t despair
There are people in this world for whom driving is an unheard
of privilege
Should you have a bad day at work
Think of the man who has been out of work, for the last three
months
Should you despair over a relationship gone bad
Think of the person who has never known what it’s like to love
and be loved in return
Should you grieve the passing of another weekend
Think of the woman in dire straits, working twelve hours a day,
seven days a week, for barely enough to feed her family
Should you notice a new gray hair in the mirror
Think of the cancer patient in chemo who wishes she had hair to
examine
Should you find yourself the victim of other people’s bitterness,
ignorance, smallness or insecurities
Remember, things could be worse – You could be them!
SAINT for the WEEK
September 3 St. Gregory the Great
Gregory was born in Rome in 540. At the age of 45 he left his career in the public
service in order to join the Benedictines . Later he became a deacon and was chosen
as the papal legate to Constantinople. Gregory became pope in 590 and effected
great changes in the Roman Catholic church. He used the office to govern and pro-
vide pastoral care to a large area during a time of little civil administration. He also
reformed church liturgy, introducing Gregorian chant. Gregory’s writings about saints,
including Saint Benedict, helped the growth of Benedictine monasteries in the Middle
Ages. He died in the year 604.
It’s not the load that breaks you down, it’s the way you carry it.
