Purpose and Aim: Purpose of this assignment is to assess the knowledge of the students that they gained through lectures, activities and case studies performed in class. This assignment will push the learner to have a deeper look into the working and internal processes of an organization to find out how they can implement quality systems and what are the deficiencies in a system, which become cause of failure. Moreover this assignment will push the learner to understand the theoretical work produced by different Quality management writers as the practical is not possible without the thorough understanding of philosophy of subject. Scenario: The warning bell in the fire brigade station sounds and Jamil wakes up. Its 3:00 a.m. and a two alarm fire is burning out of control. The on duty fire crew slowly pull themselves from their warm cots and fumbles for their coats and boots. Where are my gloves? wonders Jamil as he moves towards engine no 1. Recently he noticed that the old fire engine had been giving starting problem because of battery. Should report that thought Jamil idly. Jamil gives a final try to secure a water hose on the truck. A loose nozzle falls from the attached hose and clatters to the floor. Should fix that he mutters, as climbs into the cab and yells for everyone to climb aboard. The crew grumbles as they climb on the tail board. Javed, the rookie is nowhere to be seen. After a while Javed appears sleepy and confused. I thought this was a false alarm says Javed. Get on, Javed, this is the real thing. Yells Jamil, slightly annoyed. Jamil slightly turns the key to start the engine and it grinds hesitantly, and then dies. Should get this fixed Pir growled. Okay every one battery trouble. Unload and reload on engine no 2 Engine no 2 swings slowly from the fire brigade station. Javed hangs precariously from the safety bar scratching his head I sure thought it was a false alarm Task (Outcome 1.3) If this story had been true, what were the crews chances of getting to the fire before the building was destroyed? In your opinion, what quality problems did the district fire brigade have? Notes to Students Proper format of report should be followed including table of contents, executive summary, page numbering etc. Include a last chapter in your report about the limitations of your report and write any difficulty you faced while collecting data. Critically evaluate your work if possible. Give proper evidence of all your activities for completing the tasks e.g. videos, pictures, visiting cards, or reference letter of personnel from whom data is collected.

The safety of your assessments is your responsibility. You must not permit another student access to your work. And upon completion of each task keep a backup of the work completed by for e.g. keeping a copy in your email IDs etc. So, that no excuses are put forward on the day of submission.

Plagiarism Policy The college has strict penalty for plagiarism and the assignment will be cancelled if the assignment is observed for this. The definition and scope of plagiarism are presented below: Plagiarism occurs when a student misrepresents, as his/her own work, the work, written or otherwise, of any other person (including another student) or of any institution. Examples of forms of plagiarism include: The verbatim (word for word) copying of anothers work without appropriate and correctly presented acknowledgement; The close paraphrasing of anothers work by simply changing a few words or altering the order of presentation, without appropriate and correctly presented acknowledgement; Unacknowledged quotation of phrases from anothers work; The deliberate and detailed presentation of anothers concept as ones own. All types of work submitted by students are covered by this definition, including, written work, diagrams, designs, engineering drawings and pictures.

General Instructions Books and online resources can be used of the college library and Central Computer Lab for any assistance. But direct copying from these resources is not allowed. Visits need to be arranged and made to the organizations.
