Join us for a one-day symposium on the topic of Consumers as Educators. Our Consumer Place, Australias Mental Health Resource Centre run entirely by people diagnosed with mental illness Venue: Karstens, Level 12, 123 Queen St, Melbourne Date: Friday 11 November 2011 Time: 9am - 5pm The day will be a smorgasbord of historical depth, engaged thinking and contemporary examples of innovative and challenging educational practice. It will include: Historical context from key people involved in the Deakin Workshops, which initiated the role of mental health consumers in clinical education in Australia Insight, discussion and inspiring examples of what is happening today; A wide spectrum of contexts in which consumers are educating others; and Discussion of where the opportunities and challenges might lie. Consumers who are already involved in educating others Consumers who would like to become involved in educating others Non-consumers who support (or would like to support) consumers educating others
