Kappa Delta Sorority Hosts Celebration of International Girls Day to promote that She Can Do ANYthing!
[Springfield, OH]Oct 24, 2011: The Kappa Delta chapter at Wittenberg University will host a workshop with Girl Scouts and girls in the community in celebration of International Girls Day. The event will take place Saturday, November 5th at 1pm at Hollenbeck Hall at Wittenberg University. Over 30 girls are expected to attend. Participants will celebrate confidence and girls helping girls, where they will learn about positive female role models and explore their own personal abilities. In 2009, a small group of girls came up with the idea to create a day just for girls to celebrate what makes girls special. With the help of their mentor, they took the idea to Kappa Delta Sorority and together they created International Girls Day on behalf of the Confidence Coalition. With the message, She Can Do Anything! the celebration recognizes the spirit of girls and encourages girls to make their dreams a reality. The celebration takes place officially each year on November 14, but is celebrated throughout the month of November by each Kappa Delta Chapter in the Nation. Wittenberg Kappa Deltas International Girls Day event will be a Girls Helping Girls Fair. The facilitated program will take participants through engaging lessons and activities at booths to help them identify abilities in themselves and in others. They will be having discussions on issues like the importance of being self-confident. There will also be plenty of fun, hands-on activities such as filming short movies and making crafts! (more)
