A true tack driver, this shotgun has a 24" fully rifled Ultragon barrel crafted of heavy steel for more consistent harmonics and better long-range accuracy. Ultragon rifling features six oval lands and grooves without sharp corners like traditional rifling (see image above). This imparts bullet spin without leaving sharp impressions on the sabot jacket or Foster-type lead slug, providing a perfect gas seal, with virtually no loss of pressure for improved consistency and velocity, longer barrel life and easier cleaning. Topper Trap Gun

A handsome, high-performance trap gun for the entry-level competitor. The rugged reliability and natural-pointing characteristics of our famous Topper is now specialized for the trap fields. Smooth follow-through comes easy with its 30" barrel. It has a vent rib with a twin bead sighting system for precise target alignment an extended improved modified choke is also included. For added appeal and a custom-gun look, the cast frame is coated with electroless nickel. Perfectly aligning your eye with the rib is a specially designed trap buttstock crafted of checkered select grade walnut from American Walnut Co. A Pachmayr trap recoil pad keeps your practice seamless and comfortable. Like all shotguns with the Topper name, its optimized for superior patterns and has a Transfer Bar System and a smooth single-shot action that opens with the push of a lever.

Transfer Bar System

All h&r single shots incorporate a special safety feature the Transfer bar system that prevents the gun from
being red unless the hammer is fully cocked, and the trigger is pulled and held completely to the rear. With this system, the hammer never strikes the ring pin directly. Instead, cocking the hammer raises the transfer bar, which is held in the "up" position only if the trigger is pulled and held fully to the rear. Only then can the energy of the hammer be transferred to the ring pin. Safety is our top priority, and we urge all shooters to follow standard rearm safety practices and to participate in safety training.

H&R Buffalo Classic rifles are classics to the core, modeled after the Frank Wesson tip-up rifles that were first made in Worcester, Massachusetts in the 1850s.
