Past Lives Reincarnation Regression; Why Remembering Is So Important?

According to the Hindu religious scriptures, the soul is indestructible and it merely changes its form or body the way a human being changes his clothes after they have outlived their useful years. Christianity has a very different viewpoint of reincarnation, focusing on Christ's resurrection instead. According to the theories of Hindus a person's birth is totally dependent upon the karma or deeds he has performed in his previous life. Based on his deeds he will face rebirth in the future as a man, woman, or even an animal. Several scriptures and the Hindu religion talk about past lives reincarnation extensively. Notably, a major one of these is the Bhrigu Sanhit, which apparently had an accounting of the future and past lives for all living souls. This scripture has been lost over the centuries, however. The most important modern day account of rebirth is the collection of data by Dr, Ian Stevenson. Modern science still frowns on these claims of rebirth. Thus it cannot be stated that it is the most well accepted source of scientific information based on the theory; but still now it is the most popular and well documented because Dr. Stevenson was a psychiatrist along with a degree in medicine. Dr. Stevenson didn't put his patients under trance or induce hypnosis, as many past life regression therapists now do. Instead, he simply talked to children who had spontaneous recollections of incidents that had happened in their past lives. Most noted and perplexing among these cases was that of a small child, a boy, six years old, from a small village in Punjab. This child claimed that he had been a man named Satnam Singh. This young boy had never been to what he said was the man's home village of Chakkchela and had never lived there, even though he could describe the place with amazing. The family was nonplussed by this, and tried to dissuade the boy from saying such things, but the boy continued to insist that he was Satnam and even told people what the man's father's name had been. The boy described his death by saying that he had been killed in a motorcycle accident as he was coming home from school. Later investigations revealed that these facts were infact true. Someone called Satnam Singh had lived in that village. The manner of his death was also exactly as he had described it. But the most surprising event came when the boys handwriting matched that of Satnam singh.

Another popular account from Stevenson's collection about past lives reincarnation came from a young girl named Swarnalata. This little girl was just three years old, but nonetheless, she could recall her life as a young woman named Biya Pathak very vividly. She could vividly described the house that she lived in. In fact, when she and her father were traveling one day, she led her father directly to the property and even said that she had lived in the area; further, she said that they could get a better cup of tea in that house than they could on the road.

The most vital point came when the child recognized Biya's brother and called him by his pet name from a crowd of 9 people. There are dozens of such cases listed in the documents by Dr.stevenson. He also states that further proof of reincarnation may be birthmarks which some people have. These are said to be from accidents or fatal injuries they received in a previous life. This was indeed borne out in one of his cases on a man from Thailand, who recalled that he was in fact his own deceased maternal uncle, reincarnated. This man had a scar on his head that matched the location where his maternal uncle had been wounded with a knife and had died as a result. Another child claimed that he had been a man named MahaRam, who had been killed by close range shots to the chest area. And in fact, the child had birthmarks on his chest that looked like they could have been bullet wound scars. The "father" of modern past life regression, Dr. Brian Weiss, supports the concept of rebirth as a plausible one, and so do many other prominent authorities in the field of psychology and psychiatry. Even so, science itself remains very skeptical about the concept of past life rebirth. Nonetheless, it's also worth noting that when many people undergo a few sessions of past life regression therapy, they experience the sudden disappearance of phobias and fears they've had their entire lives.
