Today many industries want to manage project stock in quantity and value basis. In this blog we are going to discuss the attibutes of valuated project stock and the configuration steps valuated Project stock: Project stock for which each material in the stock is always managed quantity-based and value-based.Each material quantity is valuated with monetary valuation. All goods movements for the project stock lead to corresponding postings to G/L accounts in Accounting. As per SAP note 533207 we can find the advantages and disadvantages of Project stock as below Advantages: Immediate display of all goods movements in Accounting From the viewpoint of Accounting, the value flow corresponds to the value flow for anonymous make-to-stock production. The system automatically activates costs of the finished products and semifinished products that are relevant to stock during the goods receipt postings.Goods issue postings lead to corresponding reductions in stock. If price differences occur during the goods receipt or in the invoice verification, they are reported for the WBS element provided that the respective general ledger account of financial accounting has been actually created as a G/L account. Complete actual costs on all manufacturing levels Since goods withdrawals from the project stock lead to actual costs on the order, the complete actual costs are issued on each order. A deviation recording as for anonymous make-to-stock production is possible. Separate valuation of the material Materials that are managed in the project stock are valuated separately. Cross-company-code withdrawals and cross-line withdrawals for orders of other projects are possible. Simple physical inventory management and stock revaluation, for example, for balance sheet reasons. Separate determination of work in process on production orders The production orders for the valuated sales order stock are processed in the same way as the production orders of the normal make-to-stock production that is, they are not taken into account during the results analysis on the project. For the activation of the costs qualifying for stock of the production order, you may have to trigger a separate WIP determination. This may not be required, for example, if all costs on production orders are issued as goods in process in the reconciliation ledger and can be posted to Accounting. Display of the funds tied in the project stock on the WBS element as static actual costs (if desired - for this purpose, the G/L account must be created as a cost element (cost element category 90)). Planned costs for material components managed as project stock on production orders and planned networks. Disadvantages: Quantities and values cannot be separated As of Release 3.0 of the SAP R/3 System, you can use the sales order stock in combination with the project (standard account assignment category D in the sales order item). The quantities are managed in the non-valuated sales order stock here and the costs on WBS elements. This scenario cannot be supported for valuated sales order stock. No complete actual costs from external procurement on the project. In the case of valuated project stock and in-house production, high price differences occur in CO with unprecise price methods. The value-based stock is issued under a static cost element in CO. Configuration steps: Prerequisite: Project must have the project stock attribute as- Valuated stock (PROJ - KZBWS = M or A) It applies to all the WBS elements under this peoject Account assignement category should have the special stock indcator - Q If the WBS element used in sales order and PR generated from Sales order then requirement class used for that Sales order must have the value M or A in the valution field (T149K - KZBWS) 1. Project profile can be configured as valuated stock if the company always use valuated project stock .This value will be defaulted at the header level control tab while creating project . Before saving it can be changed to valuated or non-valuated .Once it is saved, it can't changed.
