An Innovative Solution for Unified Collaboration,
Communication, Task and Project Management
Qtask is an innovative and completely secure Software as a Service (SaaS) that lets a team or an entire
organization communicate, collaborate, share information and knowledge, and remain focused on
results - whether it be across the street or around the world.

Qtask encompasses many of the capabilities that one expects from a Portfolio and Project
Management solution (PPM), and also incorporates innovative global and project views of all Qtask
Services, including Discussions, Tasks, Calendars, Wikis, Forms, and Compliance.

Transparent Collaboration

Qtask’s foundation for personal and team accountability removes confusion over who is/was
responsible for undertaking and completing a task or assignment. Because of its transparent nature,
Qtask fosters a higher level of commitment, ownership, and trust among co-workers.

Track and Organize All Events and Information

Qtask allows accurate and organized tracking of all tasks and events over the course of a project,
enabling continuous and instant updates to all team members. Information can never be altered or
permanently deleted, so nothing is ever lost. New team members leverage full access to discussions
and task history to quickly get up to speed. Files are also automatically version controlled and all
versions are always available with no storage limits imposed. Qtask logs all information changes,
instantly notifies the project team and enables compliance process and procedures of all types.

Increased Productivity and Bottom Line Results

By removing the stumbling blocks that come from inefficient communication and organization of
information, Qtask allows team members to remain focused on and committed to completing the tasks
that make up a successful, on-time and on-budget project.

About the Event Host

Background
The RTP Product Development Guild is an exciting new organization whose three-fold purpose is

- Improve the regional economy by helping the next generation of entrepreneurs grow successful businesses
- Provide a mechanism for entrepreneurs, early-stage startups and corporate spin-offs to obtain professional
assistance in getting their products to market
- Make the best use of the wealth of technical consultants in this area by giving them a structured and
financially safe way to participate in the entrepreneurial process

Who Are We
The RTP Product Design Guild is made up of
members from various professional
disciplines including engineering, consulting,
industrial design, product development,
marketing, sales, manufacturing, financial,
and legal. Guild members pay an initiation fee
and quarterly dues.

What We Do
The Guild accepts applications from
entrepreneurs, early-stage startups and
corporate spin-offs. These applications allow
our submission board to select promising
products and services for our development
process.

Once a project is accepted, the submitter is assigned a team of guild members. The team consists of six Guild
members from various disciplines such as design, engineering, marketing, sales, manufacturing, and financial. The
seventh member of the team is the product champion. The team spends the next six months on what is called the
“fuzzy front end”. This is the first part of the product development process where product defined is brainstormed,
defined, and developed into a strong product, or service, concept. The team meets at the Guild offices.

Page 22
At the end of the six-month period, the team makes a presentation to a gathering
of Guild members and financiers (angel investors and venture capitalists). This
gives the entrepreneur an opportunity to present their product to the broader
business community and to individuals who could fund the next round of product
development.

We also have a parallel track that allows existing organizations to submit product
needs to the Guild. The Guild then builds a design team around an identified
product champion. Once the product has been designed, the product champion
carries the product through the prototyping and manufacturing process (with
assistance, as needed, from the Guild). The product is then sold through the
requesting organization’s sales channel.

What It Costs
The Guild charges no upfront fees. The product champion’s corporation agrees to assign stock options to the Guild.
These options can only be exercised after a specified trigger event has occurred.

Other Guild Benefits

Guild members provide a valuable, professional service to the product development community. They are excellent
resources for your company. The Guild provides a free referral service and a service provider directory.

Guild members benefit from the use of Guild facilities for meetings and conferences. This is especially important for
consultants providing high quality and reliable service, but work out of their home and need a professional
environment place to meet with clients.

Time to dust off your dreams
Have you ever had the perfect idea for a project, and not been
able to do anything about it because the tools are too expensive,
you don't have the room, or you just don't know where to start?
Everyone has. Now: there's TechShop.
TechShop is a 25,000 square-foot membership-based workshop
opening in Durham this winter that provides members with
access to tools and equipment, instruction, and a creative and
supportive community of like-minded people so you can build
the things you have always wanted to make— like a health club:
but with vertical mills instead of treadmills.
TechShop is designed for everyone, regardless of their skill level.
TechShop is perfect for inventors, "makers", hackers, tinkerers,
artists, roboteers, families, entrepreneurs, youth groups, FIRST
robotic teams, arts and crafts enthusiasts, and anyone else who
ever wanted to do something, but couldn't.

TechShop Includes:
● Machine Shop ● Blacksmithing
● Welding Shop ● Vehicle Bay
● Electronics Shop ● Sheet Metal Shop
● Finishing Room ● Tool Room
● Grinding Room ● CNC Shop
● Plastics Lab ● Laser Lab
● Wood Shop (Incl. Epilog Laser Cutter)
● Glass Works (Blowing & Neon) ● Textiles
● Silk Screening ● Rapid Prototyping

● Software Training ● Conference Room

● Retail Store ● Members' Storage
● The Hub (Socializing Break Area) ● Private Rental Space

TouchStone 3D Services
Product Development and Prototyping

TouchStone 3D Services offers a unique approach to product

development. We prefer the personalized approach, working
closely with our clients to understand their product concepts
and ideas. We then help them implement those ideas into
working products in the most economical way we can.

Unlike many product design firms, we can not only design, but also fabricate your product
in house using our own equipment and resources. This enables us to control costs, improve
turn around times, and maintain your confidentiality. If you want to handle the design, then
we are more than happy to just make it for you.

No project is too small or too large. We can support our clients at all levels from full
service, “turn-key” design projects, to simple prototyping of a single part or assembly. We
work with large companies, small companies, entrepreneurs, inventors, educators, and even
hobbyists to help them turn their ideas into products. There is never a charge for an initial
consultation.
