INTRODUCTION OF THE COMPANY: VARUN BREVERAGES

In1965 pepsi co. Inc. Was founded by Donald M. Kendall, president and chief executive officer of pepsi cola and Herman W. Lay, president and chief executive officer of frito lay.

Varun breverages ltd, a bottling company, engages in bottling and distribution of pepsi. The co. Was incorporated in 1995 and is based in gurgaon,India. The pepsico announced to split its two units into three units: one for US foods, second for US drinks, and third for food and drinks abroad. CEO of pepsico is Indira Nooyi. In 2007 co. Introduced its first vitamin enhanced water called aquafina alive. In 2006 Pepsi launched a coffee flavoured cola, named pepsi max cino, in UK. It also acquired various sparkling juice cos. And naked juice cos. Further because of child obesity co. Decided to sell only water, unsweetened juice and low fat milk in US. The co. Has invested heavily in india for making it one of the multinational investors. There are 43 bottling plants in india out of which 15 are company owned and 28 are franchisee owned Its diverse portfolio of brand includes: Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, 7up,Miranda, Mountain Dew, Slice fruit drink. Pepsico is one of the largest MNC exporters in india and its export business consists of three categories: agri business, commodities, and pepsi system sales.

Processing of bottling Plant

Ready Syrup is prepared according to the required flavour At filler point ready syrup is mixed with corbon-dioxide through carbon-dioxide tanks Then bottle filling and capping is done at 3-4 degree temperature Then it is passed through warmer tanks to bring it to room temperature. Then bottle codding is done Inspection is done by passing the bottles through light. Then labbelling of bottles. Then packaging of bottle. The pack-size is: for 2ltrs 9 bottles in a carton and 500ml- 24 bottles in a carton. In case of non carbonated drinks the process is almost same but the difference : it is filled at 70-80 degree temperature and the brought to room temperature by passing through chiller. Further the process is same. The packed cartons are kept in warehouse and dispatched by loading in trucks.

Some importantant facts:

The manufacturing is done according to the market demand. During promotional offers special labeling is done. The whole process is fully automatic , so only few workforce was present.

I hearby conclude that we had a practical exposure to the industry. We learned about the assembly line in bottling plant.
