Micro SSS – Shop Security System

Better Safe than Sorry

An age old adage “Better safe than sorry” seems to be having a lot of merit to it. With the passage of time a lot of advancement has
taken place however, this has not been able to assure reduction in the level of crimes. On the contrary Murphy’s Laws too seem to be
acquainting us with the inevitable “If Anything Can Go Wrong It Will”. But Murphy also goes on to say that “Left to themselves, things
tend to go from bad to worse”.

The valuable asset of the shop coupled with the tremendous increase in the level of crimes makes the retailers look for more enhanced
shop security system. Anticipating the problems and plugging the loopholes has become an essential element of operation for every
retailer. The competition has risen to a level wherein the retailers are not only expected to speed up their operations and service
deliverables but also offer multiplicity and range to the extent of providing ONE STOP shopping experience to the ever demanding
customer. Obviously, increase in the assets on the premises results in making the shops more prone to thefts even when closed and
especially during the nights.

The current security systems available to the retailers are fundamentally a Burglar siren system. These security systems functions are
basically dependent on land line dialing system. Thus in case the lines are in use at the time of intrusion, the alerts can not be triggered
and hence remain undelivered at critical moment. This inadequacy of the alarm system warrants that the shop security concern needs
to be addressed more profoundly.

As per a criminal investigation department theft, burglary & robbery are major property crimes. In India homes, offices, government
establishments and industries related property crimes constitute 40% of all crimes. Mumbai is a close second to Delhi on the crime map
in India with 31432 cases registered by Mumbai police as against 51010 by Delhi police. Crime statistics also revel that the majority of
thefts & robbery takes place during night times after cutting/disabling the power supply & telephone lines.

Hard pressed for security cover, the retailer’s reliance on technology as an add-on to the enormous assortment of private security
measure is quite natural. The elementary requirement would essentially comprise a sophisticated, effective and reliable security
system. With a whole shop security system in place the retailers or shop owners should feel more secure being away from their shops.

Micro Technologies (I) Ltd. an ISO 9001:2000 public limited aims to give “Complete Integrated Information Technology System” to the
clients. Their focus areas include Super security, Messaging and GIS. Into secure systems for vehicle, homes, office they have recently
launched a shop security system namely Micro SSS for the retailers.

What is Micro SSS?

Micro SSS i.e., Micro Shop Security System is primarily a security system deployed to enhance the security level for the shop. It
facilitates,

- Complete Global control to protect and save your valuables, investment & life of your staff, even when you are not at Shop, town or in
the country.
- Unique system, where you get an SMS alerts on your mobile using GSM technology as some emergency / calamity such as an
intrusion, man made or otherwise, transpire.

Operations of Micro SSS

The door as well as the shutter sensor is strategically located at the premises of the retailer. Detection of any unwanted, undesired,
forced access or intrusion to the retailer’s premises by the sensors and the monitoring devices triggers an SMS alert which is
immediately sent to the registered user and the add-on users. The Registered User is warned about this intrusion through an Alert
Message. Since this security system works on the GSM technology, a GSM network infrastructure is essentially required for the
functioning of the system.
The system provides the Registered User with various controls through Messaging Service. The registered user has the option of creating
up to a maximum of three add-on users for the system. After creating the add-on users he then proceeds to grant them access control
over all or selective sensors. Henceforth, these add-on users will also receive an Intrusion Message alert on their mobile devices but only
for the assigned sensors. The registered as well as add-on users can control the complete system manually with the help of a remote
control, which in an enabled state has the capability to control the electrical devices.

Also, using prescribed Messaging Commands the registered user can obtain status of all the sensors, status of all doors & electric
devices, names of respective doors and devices, mobile numbers of the add-on users along with their status of assigned sensors and
specific information of the add-on user as regards to the assigned devices and sensors. The add-on user can obtain using the respective
commands the status of all the sensors, devices and doors, names of the doors and devices. However, the add-on user has the capability
of enabling or disabling only those sensors which are assigned to him by the registered user.

Quite evidently, it appears to be an effective and unique solution in which Registered User and the Add-On Users are intimated of any
anomaly at their premises through Messages simultaneously. Apart from Messaging as a mode of intimation during any inconsistency
such as intrusion, smoke detection or Gas Leakage the system is also incorporated with audio effects through Siren, which is an
additional facility to the system.

Features of Micro SSS

The Micro SSS has a standard kit comprising of a wireless door sensor, wireless shutter sensor, wireless panic switch, siren, remote key
chain and a battery backup. If the retailer so desires he also has the option to go in for an additional shutter sensor, wireless P1 motion
detector, wireless Fire/smoke sensor, wireless GAS sensor, 2 door sensors, 2 wireless panic switch, 2 vibrator sensors for Glass break or
grill cut and an Remote Access system. The standard kit provides the retailer with an option to configure five controlling zones. Depending
on the retailers requirement these could be extended to a maximum of 15 zones.

The Global control command of the Shop security system through ones mobile lies with the registered user. The registered user or the
main user has complete command over the configuration and control of the entire security system. He furthermore has the option to be
able to configure three additional user usually referred to as Add-On users. Some of the key deliverables are
