Men seek success in their undertakings" They want the happy consummation of their various enterprises. The means of achieving success is the worship of God. We should worship Him with faith and with devotion. The devotee may be a yogi or a house holder or a person who hos renunciated everything. Any type of devotee has to adore God in his heart. The adoration that issues from a pure heart is bound to get its due reward. Therefore we have to address ourselves to the worship of God. Let us worship Him in all the different ways' known to custom and usage. [.,et us glorify Him in all the numerous ways mentioned ir the scriprures. There is none greater than He. There is nothing whieh we cannot achieve by His grace. -Swamiji.

to describe them adequately. God has myriadsof forms and 'myriads of names. Yet God is one. And bhakti is tbe only easy way of realizing Him. A life of bhaldi brings supreme' happiness. But to live such a life it needs, of course, much persistent effort, that is Sadhana, he added. Bhajan, bhakti, yoga are ways of winning Him. It is likely that men folget God, caught as they are in life's tr<rubles anel turmoils. They Lre also likely to forget Hirn in their happiness. Festivals and jayantis remind man of the need to turn to him and seek his avour. Worship and prayer, chanting and singing, dance and poetry are means in thi direction. 'Your observing this aane ottams every 3'ear', Sri Swamiji said, 'has a gieat significance. To the wild, self-willed elephrnt, the hook is applied, which works by sending' hirn"running along the road to the ternple. Similarly, man inqhis egoism is like the wild beast. Leaving aside his self-pride. he should ledrn to rush toward God. God is fuil of kindness. He is forgiving. He has an infinitude of names and forms. Men realise him in one form or in another. Such celebrations as the present one have been in vogue from times imiremorial. They help men to turn to God. Today .we inauguratg the festival with the kindling of this lamp. The lamp is God's chaitanya (soul) form. Physical disturb4nces, mental distresses, hard ships of life and spiritual anxieties are cleared by Him. Guruvayurappan has settled Him: self in this place for that very purpose.
