Overview
Welcome to HangOn!, a short puzzle-platformer where you control a ball-like creature that can swing around and assume different forms with their own special abilities, enabling you to move and do things like in no other platformer! Getting started
Insert the game CD Windows users: o Open the Windows directory o Run HangOn.exe Mac users: o Open the Mac directory o Run HangOn.app Browser-based users: o Open the BrowserBased directory o Run HangOn.php Play!

Story
In a far away world, there exists a race of tree-dwelling, ballshaped creatures called Blobs. You play Coop, one such Blob who falls into the sea and gets washed onto a mysterious, deserted island. Recognising the place from an ancient legend, you stumble upon what you recognize as the mysterious Cavern of Lightstones. The glowing crystals in the cavern have strange effects on you that let you change into different forms and perform amazing feats. Determined to discover the innermost secrets of the Lightstones, you follow the trail left by the last explorer.

Forms
Normal Form Blobs are simple, round, tree-dwelling creatures that use their elastic, antennae-like grabbers to swing from branch-to-branch. Baloon Form You take on a balloon-like shape and can fly, by inhaling air and blowing it back out with great force! [NI] Hardball Form You become a rock-hard boulder that lets you smash through stuff! [NI] Goo Form You turn into a gooey mass that can slip through small gaps and absorb enemies whole.

Important Game Mechanics


Normal Form o Grabbing Objects: You can use your antennae to grab certain objects. If an object can be grabbed, the mouse pointer changes to a hand sign when it hovers over that object. By holding down the grab button, you can stay latched onto an object. When the grab button is released, you let go of the object. Grabbing certain objects can have some interesting effects, feel free to experiment! Cant grab object Can grab object o Swinging: By moving right or left while suspended, you can swing. By pressing up or down, you can stretch or contract your antenna, lowering yourself from or pulling yourself to the grabbed object.

Balloon Form o Flying: You can fly in Balloon Form by holding down the Fly Up button. When you are out of breath, you can no longer fly. o Breath: The amount of breath you have is indicated by the yellow bar on your status display, as well as your size in Balloon Form (the less breath you have, the smaller you become). Your inhale air over time to replenish your breath. o Breaking your fall: If you are falling and wish to avoid taking damage, you can swap to Ballon Form just before landing to break your fall.

Final Year Project 09 | Manual 5 General Mechanics o Hazardous Objects: Certain objects in the world, like lava, spikes, etc can hurt you. Do your best to avoid these. o Health Pickups: Scattered around the world are jewels that can be grabbed to restore health.

Checkpoints: As you progress through the levels, your progress automatically gets saved at certain points, and you respawn there if you die.

Pausing: You can pause and resume the game, and save your progress if you wish. Fall Damage: If you fall from more than a certain height (roughly a bit more your grab range), you take damage depending on the distance you fell. Note that you do not take fall damage in Balloon Form.
