KALIEDOSCOPE Script
Scene 1: Hospital 30 secs

Establishing shot of a tranquil natural-looking landscape with green fields, mountains, a lake and hut. Fade-in: The sounds of a maternity ward in the background. - Slow zoom out revealing that it is in fact a painting, and you can now see a hospital corridor with a typical hospital environment but all made out of shiny plastic. - The camera goes out through the corridor window showing a quick view of the outside world (which is made of shiny plastic) and then moving back into an adjacent delivery room. Traffic noise and when the camera gets closer to the second window, a woman in labour approaching climax. - Delivery room: The camera continues along a circular axis as it enters the room. The view of the delivery bed is obstructed by a partition. Sound of a newly born baby crying just as the camera comes around the partition. - Zoom in to the babys eyes that have a kaleidoscope effect. Transition: Graphic match Scene 2: School - Playground secs 25

The scene opens with a side view close-up of the protagonist and another boy, both roughly six years old, sitting on an old, rusted swing in a playground. - Front view, medium close-up. They look at each other for a moment and then the boy smiles and waves at her. The girl blushes and waves back, smiling, but then notices that the boys hand is plastic. This fascinates her and she slowly raises her arm to touch his hand. Just as she is about to, a plastic, adult arm grabs the boy and hoists him out of the swing. - Top back view. The boys mother, annoyed at him for playing in the old, decrepit part of the park, is hastily pulling the boy away. The camera tilts up and you see the horizon with them walking towards it. The park and sprawling cityscape behind it are all shiny plastic. Transition: Whiteout Scene 3: School - Corridor 20 secs

The girl, now age 15 and slowly walking down the school corridor, with a neutral expression, carrying books in her arm. The corridor is busy and a group of students bump into her making her fall down,

dropping some drawings that were in her book. The drawings show her confused state of mind. The group scarcely pay attention to her and the world starts moving in fast-motion, while she is collecting her drawings in slow motion. - Close up of her collecting the drawings which are in the middle of the frame and in focus. A shoe steps on one of them. - And the whole scene goes into slow motion as the girl looks up at the person and realises its the oriental boy (almost fully plastic now). He looks at her and then looks away casually and walks off. Close-up of the girl hanging her head in sadness. Transition: Whiteout Scene 4: Street secs 20

Top view of the girl, now age 19 walking down the street at midafternoon. A car is heard approaching in the background. - As the car passes by at high speed, it almost hits her and makes her look in that direction (across the road). There is a lot of smoke in the air from the car, and as the smoke clears, a McDonalds becomes visible, with Ronald standing outside with his happy fake face. - Theres a kaleidoscope flash showing the dark side of Ronald, with the McDonalds building transformed into an evil-looking factory. The remaining smoke of the car creates an atmosphere of strangeness and devilish colours. - Back to the top view, and the girl is agitated and starts walking quickly. Transition: Whiteout Scene 5: Rooftop 30 secs

Close-up of the girls feet running over a building terrace. The only sounds are her heavy breathing and her bare feet on the floor. - Quick fade to black into a long shot of the back of the girl running towards the edge of a building. - Quick fade into black to a side view long shot of the girl running towards the terrace edge. Behind her, the sun is setting and the sunrays silhouette her, hitting then lens of the camera creating a flare. - Slow fade to black into a long shot kaleidoscope flash of the girl pleasantly arriving at the edge of a beautiful field, where she enjoys the freedom of a natural environment - the same landscape as the painting at the start of the story. - Slow fade to black into a top view of the girl falling in a very angelic way, facing upwards, with a smile on her face.

Characters
Girl

She is simple and innocent, but her kaleidoscope eyes make her the only one with the potential to notice the plastic effect of the world. She is unaffected by society and doesnt change into plastic like everyone else. As she grows up, she starts seeing the truth of the sick society in which she has been born, but theres a good thing about her gift it lets her escape reality and imagine her own world where she finds peace and happiness. She had a normal childhood trying to fit in, but as it becomes apparent that she is different from everyone else, she starts getting treated as an outcast.

Oriental Boy - He is a good-looking boy and the object of the protagonists affection. - His character shows the moral degradation of the human beings influenced by society. This is seen in his slow transformation from an almost fully normal boy who also has feelings for the protagonist to a plastic teen who is now indifferent to her.

Setting
The Plastic World - Set in the present day. - The plasticity of the world is a reflection of the twisted nature of the people who have shaped it. It is derived from the fake smiles and gestures that are commonly described as plastic. - The plastic world seems bright, cheerful and so colourful that it hurts the eyes. - In contrast, the kaleidoscope vision of the protagonist has earthy tones, making it look modest and pure. - Children are born as normal into the world but get infected by their environment and gradually turn into plastic people. - Buildings like banks, restaurants, etc. have a pleasant and shiny plastic exterior, but when viewed through the girls true vision, are exposed to be soulless, decayed structures serving another vile function for society. Hospital o Painting: describes a natural environment, and its an element that shows the opposite concept of the plastic world around the main character. School - Classroom o Blackboard: important element that starts the trigger of the society brainwashing children. o Drawings: element that shows the state of mind of the main character, the dislikes about her world and her point of view. Street

o Late afternoon.

Busy centre of a big metropolis. People are rushing around like zombies, most of them returning from work. There is a lot of ambient noise.

Pitch Gone in 30 seconds


- This story is about the hypocrisy and unethical practices that is a staple of modern society. - This is symbolized by a world where everything and everyone is made of plastic. However, people are born normal, slowly changing into plastic as they get corrupted by society. - The protagonist is a girl who has the potential to see the world for what it really is through her unique kaleidoscope eyes. - The movie shows her growing up, getting confused, disillusioned and then finally escaping into a fantasy world to deal with the harsh realities of life.
